S2 Chapter 29 Prize

Leonard walked over to look at the earrings on the display. His eyes were fixed on the earrings with yellow gems. He looked at the person who was with him shopping.

"How do you think this is?" ask Leonard.

Flint turned to the earring that Leonard was pointing at. "That's great."

Leonard asked Flint about the other earrings, necklaces and bracelets he pointed at. However, Flint's answer did not change.

"That's great."

Leonard frowned, unable to bear the attitude of Flint who slipped himself.

"Are you going to help me or not?" grouse Leonard.

"I think everything's good."

Leonard took a long breath. It is wrong to ask people for opinions. Women were more able to judge the beauty of those gems than the Duchess Adjutant. 

He should have taken Idris or Ariana. However, Idris will be suspicious if Leonard suddenly buys a jewel. Ariana must have been busy, plus the Duchess did not allow Leonard to go out unattended from her confidants. 

The only friend he knew was Flint. In addition, Flint has a younger sister so the Duchess' aide may be able to assist Leonard in finding a gift for a girl. However, the truth was that Flint couldn't tell which one was good and which one was ugly. For Flint jewelry is the same.

Leonard could have asked for the opinions of the knights in the Hillbright residence, but they were not very close. The time he spent in the Duchess's room made him rarely mingle with other knights.

"Do you think the Duchess will like this or not?" leonard asked, making it clear that he was taking Flint. He hopes Flint can be more serious.

"You know for yourself the Duchess rarely wears jewelry and dresses. She only wears it at parties."

Leonard confirmed in heart. He was confused to choose a gift that the Duchess liked, because the gift that attracted many women was not even glimpsed by the Duchess. 

"Then what gift does the Duchess like?"

"The Duchess always receives gifts of any kind."

Flint's words made Leonard even more confused. That is, the Duchess is neither happy nor upset about receiving any gifts. She wants the Duchess to be happy to receive her prize. 

"Then what about the sword?" ask Leonard.

"The sword of the Duchess is a Landell-made blacksmith who is known to be very powerful. With the Clear stone absorbing aura, the power of his sword was invincible," Flint explained to break Leonard's spirit.

Leonard held his head increasingly dizzy. Finding a gift for a girl is difficult.

"Sheath of the sword, what about the sheath of the sword?" Leonard seemed excited to find the answer he was looking for.

"That's a great idea." 

Leonard and Flint head for the gun. The former mercenary chose a strong and light sword sheath, adjusting the slender body of Duchess Hillbright. Leonard smiled as he hugged the gift he was about to give the Duchess.

Flint shook his head. He hopes that he is not as stupid and shameful when he falls in love.

"You like the Duchess?" flint asked, even though he knew the answer.

"Right, I'll make her like me too" Leonard replied as he pointed at her with his thumb.

"Then fight." Flint got out of that gun shop. He was tired and wanted to go home soon.

Leonard likened his pace to Flint's. "Why don't you mock me? Usually the nobility will demean the commoners who intend to establish relations with their people."

"My father was a commoner, while my mother was a Countess. I have no right to judge you" Flint said.

A glimmer of hope illuminated Leonard's heart. The nobles and commoners could unite. "Are the other nobles not talking about their relationship?"

"Okay, maybe it's my father's position as the tower's witch leader, so they don't mind much."

Leonard. He was just an ordinary bodyguard, not having any outstanding advantages or high positions that could go hand in hand with the Duchess. It was better that he wait to become a noble to deserve to be next to the Duchess.

A few days later.

Ariana went to the capital to take the results of the drug Judith took. Not wanting Ariana to walk in the capital alone unattended, Raymond joined in.

"What is the result of the drug examination I gave you already?

"Here you go, let me find." 

The doctor opened the drawer. Then stir the contents until it finds a paper containing the drug content given by Ariana. The doctor gave the paper to Ariana.

Ariana read the results of the composition of the drug then widened her eyes. 

"Is this true?"

"I've examined it carefully, don't doubt my abilities," the Doctor said slightly irritatedly.

"Sorry and thank you." Ariana bowed and said goodbye.

Saintess and the Holy Knight were out of the doctor's clinic. Ariana was not calm to see the results.

"Do you have any activities after this, Brother Raymond?"

"No, Saintess. Why?"

"I want you to accompany me to the Hillbright residence. I have something to tell my brother."

"Okay, Saintess."

The Hillbright residence.

Judith wondered inwardly because of Arion's sudden visit. Arion's restless face added to Judith's worries.

"Why did you come here, Rion."

"I'll be the crown prince after Brother's birthday."

"Isn't that good?" Judith turned her eyes to Flint seeking support. Flint also agreed.

"The problem is that I also have to find the crown princess after that" Arion said.

"Did Mom and Dad tell you to find the crown princess directly?" ask Judith. 

Her mother and father always refused the engagement of their children to the point that no noble would dare to approach Judith, Ariana and Arion. It's strange that Leticia and Gerald suddenly want Arion to find a partner.

"No, it's just that sooner or later I have to have a partner. Do I have to hold a contest to determine the crown princess?"

Flint kept his face expressionless. He was worried that his sister had no hope of becoming Arion's lover. There was indeed a way to follow the competition, but his sister's never serious attitude made him not sure Sylvie would win. 

"That's one way, there's another way. You can choose the crown princess directly. Mother became the crown princess because she was chosen by the previous Emperor, despite Grandfather's interference as well." Judith recalls her mother's story when she met her real father.

"Is it okay to choose a crown princess based on feelings? What if the person I choose turns out to be unable to run the Empire?" 

Judith clenched her hand. When he is in the position of Arion, he will be confused. "I don't know the right answer, Rion. If we put our feelings forward, we will set the people aside. If we attach more importance to the empire, that feeling will be a victim. You can ask Father and Mother for their opinion on this."

"Okay, thank you, brother."

Their eyes were turned aside on Ariana and Raymond who were approaching. Judith ordered the waiter to add more tea and cups to see more and more guests. Judith invited Ariana to sit down. Raymond stood next to Flint and Leonard.

"Why are you here, Ariana? ask Arion.

"There's something I want to talk to Brother about. Why are you here, Rion?" ariana asked back.

"Just like that."

The waiter has come to serve tea to Ariana. Incidentally, Ariana was thirsty. Walking in the sun made him tired. He sipped his tea, and so did Arion. Arion's throat felt dry from talking at length with her brother.

The sound of the cup breaking broke the silence. Judith widened her eyes. Both of his sisters fell down while holding their chest which was painful.

Judith looked at the waiter who was serving tea earlier trying to escape. Flint immediately bent the waiter. Idris looked up at Judith while grinning.
