S2 Chapter 14 Early Plan

Judith waited for Leonard's unmoved reply. Upon seeing Leonard on the first day, he ordered one of his subordinates to investigate Leonard. Suspicious, Marquis Loid came to Leonard's house at night. Judith suspects that the one Marquis paid Leonard to spy and attempt to bring her down. However, there is no direct evidence. All Judith can do is make Leonard confess everything. 

"Who is Marquis Loid?" ask Leonard back.

"Stop pretending, she's been coming to your house all night."

"The one's nobleman apparently. I don't know his name. He only asked for the whereabouts of his slave. Unfortunately his slave was killed in the rebellion. How did you know he was coming? Are you investigating me? I feel like I'm an important person" Leonard said confidently.

An upset Decak came out of Judith's mouth. He approached Leonard with a look of intimidation. "Finding the background of the knight candidate is important. I do not want to be suddenly betrayed, especially by mercenaries who only crave money. Or do I need to pay more than Marquis Loid to buy your loyalty?"

Leonard's eyes showed no excitement or fear. He looked at Judith sharply. "Indeed the former Princess likes to squander her money. You're mistaken, I have nothing to do with Marquis Loid."

Without blinking Judith continued to look for changes from Leonard's expression of the slightest item. Lies cannot be covered forever. But not now, he needs more evidence.

"Your job today is done, you can come back tomorrow" Judith ordered as she turned to her desk.

There was a loud sound of the door slamming. Judith glanced back.

'Keep quibbling, sooner or later you will open your mouth. Actually I don't want to sacrifice you for the sake of capturing Marquis Loid. But you're on the wrong side, Leonard, Judith's inner self.

Leonard took a deep breath in his room. He pressed his still beating heart. This was the first time a girl had scared him. 

'I don't know why the noble was praised by so many. He deserves more to be feared, Leonard.

Almost all his plans were revealed if he did not answer quickly. His head that was used just for fighting, was thinking hard to prepare the right answer. Although the suspicion of his superior has not disappeared, the most important thing is that he survived.

Leonard's eyes caught an unfamiliar letter lying on the table. Before leaving the room, the table was very clean. He circled his gaze across the room hoping to find a clue to the person who sent him the letter.

Not finding any leads, Leonard opened the letter. It was from Marquis Loid. It wasn't just Leonard who broke into the Hillbright residence. A servant who had long worked for the Duchess was the informant of Marquis Loid. The waiter Idris is the one who delivered the letter to Leonard, in the future they will work together to trick the Duchess. 

"Make the Duchess believe you, while I figure out a way to take down the Duchess." Leonard read the end of the letter in annoyance. 

Gaining the Duchess' trust is not easy. Their first meeting was chaotic, Leonard could not stand the Duchess' attitude, plus the Duchess was blatantly suspicious of him. 

Leonard's trust in Marquis Loid began to wear off. There is no mature plan, there is only a hasty action without thinking about Leonard's safety. It is just a piece that can be replaced by anyone. 

'After I deal with the Duchess next is you, Marquis, ' Leonard threatened inwardly.

The sound of feet creaking sounded in the hallway. Leonard woke up bad luck. He did not even get to do morning exercises. Thinking all night with his stupid brain left him tormented.

He arrived at the Duchess's study with a breath of air. Flint's eyes flashed as if he wanted to pounce on her. Delay was not a proper thing for knights, let alone as the Duchess' bodyguard. 

"Am I going to get fired?" ask Leonard without a stale ado.

"It's good there's still some worry in your heart, but apologize in advance for coming in late. Where's your manners? Is that how you talk to the boss?" nagel Flint's.

"I'm sorry for my negligence. My boss is the Duchess, she just doesn't care what I want to call her" replied Leonard who was in her place.

No response from the Duchess. Judith did not bother to scold or look at the former mercenary. Flint held back his nearly exploding rage at the words of the new knight. Everything was for the sake of the master's plan of taking down Marquis Loid. 

Judith finished all her work, then stood up. "Today we go to the orphanage."

"Okay, Duchess." Flint.

Judith's steps came to a halt beside Leonard. Without even looking or glancing at his new bodyguard he said, "I hope you're not so stupid that you need an order to follow me."

Duchess Hillbright walked out of her room followed by her aide. Leonard clenched his hands tightly while tailing behind the two nobles. 

The three of them arrived in front of the gates of the Hillbright residence. There are two horse-drawn carriages. The first will be hosted by Duchess, Flint and Leonard. While the second contains the needs of the orphanage child. Usually the bodyguard and his master would be in a different horse carriage However, given Leonard was still suspected, Judith did not want to take her eyes off her new bodyguard. It could be that Leonard contacted Marquis Loid using a magic stone or a messenger bird. 

The three had arrived in front of the orphanage. Unasked, Leonard immediately dropped off the items, not wanting to hear the Duchess' insults again. Instead of insults, what Leonard got was a sense of surprise. The Duchess took things down. It was not usual for a noble girl to do such hard work. Although, that one noble girl was indeed different from the other noble girls. His strength is greater than men, never wear a dress, even become the leader of the army at a young age.

All the items had lined up neatly beside the entrance of the orphanage. Leonard wiped the sweat with his hands while glancing at the Duchess who wiped her face with a handkerchief. The face of the person beside her was indeed beautiful, but the Duchess' attitude was more like that of a man. Leonard begins to question the Duchess's true gender.

The head of the orphanage who had helped, now continuously lowered his head in gratitude. "I hope to repay all the Duchess' kindness."

"No need, I just want to help people in distress. Where are the kids?" The Duchess looked around.

"They're inside, please." The head of the orphanage reached out into the door. 

Judith followed him with a smile. Flint stepped into the parlour, leaving Leonard stunned.

'It turns out he can smile too. But it must be a fake smile. I don't know how many people he managed to complain about. Unfortunately I was not deceived, ' Inner Leonard.
