Chapter 72 Sacrifice

Leticia was in her room. Crying over all his actions. Had he continued to hold back his feelings meeting Gerald would definitely not have been like this. Had he not fallen in love with Gerald it would not have been like this. Had he not planned a revolt it would not have been like this. In the end, he destroyed himself. Leticia continued to regret and regret. 

He took out a small magic stone for the teleportation. What's he gonna do with this? If he runs, his daughter is hurt. If he remained in the palace without doing anything, he and his daughter would suffer.

Leticia wiped her tears. Then why hasn't Gerald attacked the palace yet? Is it because Leticia herself asked him to wait? Even if Gerald can kill Braun and Charlotte, Judith will still hate Leticia. If Leticia keeps Gerald waiting, then he can't keep his promise. It would be a weakness for Gerald.

Which one did Leticia choose? All those thoughts revolved in his head until night.

He has made a decision. Meet with Gerald one last time and then return to the palace.

Leticia teleported to Faust's residence. He turned his back on the residence. Not wanting to go inside because it prepared his heart.

There was regret in Gerald's heart for not bringing Leticia and Judith to a run when they were caught. He should have immediately chased them and taken them away from the palace. Without caring about Judith's hatred for him. He could take Judith's heart while she was at her residence. But it's all too late. His surprise at that moment made him unable to do anything.

Isabella is still at Faust's residence because she has no news from Leticia. Isabella has contacted Dale, Leticia has not given it up either. Rose who was in the palace was also unable to meet with Leticia. Their communication was cut off.

It was in their minds to immediately launch a rebellion. However, they put her away at the thought of Leticia's feelings trying to convince Judith. 

Isabella looked out the window. There was a blonde woman standing in front of the residence. He alerted Gerald and headed there immediately.

Isabella arrived first and then immediately approached Leticia.

"We're all worried about you, Leti." As soon as I saw Leticia Isabella's face flabbergasted. Really messed up and looking thinner.

"Do you know, it feels like all the happiness I've ever felt was like a dream. It can disappear instantly if you wake up. Can't I be happy?" Leticia's gaze was empty.

"Of course, you can be happy Leti." Isabella held Leticia's shoulder.

"But the source of my happiness now doesn't even want to call me mother. He hates me completely. Now that I feel alone, no one cares about me." Leticia shook her head while holding her face.

Isabella hugged Leticia. "A lot of people care about you, Leti. Me, Dale, Rose, and Master all love you. We'll support you completely."

Leticia was crying in Isabella's arms. "I don't know what to do. Just living is painful. If I die, Judith will be used by Braun, Charlotte and Duke Hilbright. If you kill Braun and Charlotte, Judith will hate me even more." 

Isabella patted Leticia on the back. "You already knew the answer from the beginning, Leti. That's why you ventured to contact your old best friend who hates you. You also want to cooperate with the cruelest people in the Empire. All for your safety and your daughter's sake. Indeed Judith will hate you but it is better than seeing her suffer at their hands. We will always be by your side when we need to. So don't worry, Leti."

Leticia hiccups, groans occasionally. Isabella kept calming her best friend. He was also crying. This was the first time he had seen Leticia cry like this.

After calming down, Isabella took off her embrace. Leticia looked at the person behind Isabella. There was a deep pain in his eyes. 

Isabella soon left them both. 

Gerald reached out to Leticia. "Are you going around, Empress?"

Leticia nodded, receiving Gerald's helping hand.

Throughout the journey they did not speak. They arrived at the park.

"This park is my mother's legacy. I still take care of him now."

"It's so beautiful."

They sat side by side in chairs on the edge of the garden. 

Gerald looked into Leticia's golden eyes. "If you can't choose between me or your daughter. I'll help you choose. Go seclude yourself from the palace with your daughter after I become Emperor."

Leticia clenched her hands. That's not a sentence to throw out, though Gerald's weight will be to release Leticia for Judith's sake. It must be hard for him. Leticia knows about it. He too hopes to be happy without realizing the harsh reality that awaits him.

"It turns out I'm the only one who's been living in a dream. You and Isabella have always lived in reality despite being painful." Leticia caressed Gerald's cheek.

Gerald held Leticia's hand which caressed her cheek. "In addition I will find a wife to give birth to an heir. In the end, I'm no different than the person you hate."

Leticia smiled wryly. "Our relationship is only limited to agreements and cooperation. We can't continue. But I'm really happy when I'm with you."

The two did not want to separate from each other, but they could not be together. Gerald pressed his lips closer to Leticia. He gave a farewell kiss. This will be their last kiss. 

Leticia opened her eyes slowly. A tear dripped down his cheek. Gerald.

The First Empress distanced herself from Grand Duke Faust. He looked at her sharply.

"Attack the palace in a week, Grand Duke. Also tell the Witch Leader of the Tower about this. Then, tell Countess Wollard that I'm on her side. You can face the Emperor. Let me take care of the Second Empress," Leticia ordered.

"Okay, Empress." Gerald nodded.

Leticia stood up, clasping her teleportation stone. He faced Gerald with a smile.

"Goodbye, Grand Duke."

Gerald returned Leticia's smile. "Goodbye, Empress."

Leticia's smile slowly disappeared along with her body. Gerald looked at Leticia's place earlier. His goal of becoming Emperor would be achieved. Then what was after? He was hoping to be with Leticia. Now he has no purpose anymore. 

He's been thinking about it for a few days. However, I did not find the right answer.

Gerald headed for the door of his residence. Isabella was waiting there. 

"Where is the Empress, sir?"

"He's back. We'll attack the palace in a week. Quickly contact Marquis Rainster and Count Landell, I need their help attacking the palace. Then, inform the Tower's Witch Leader and the Empire's Witch Leader about this," Gerald ordered.

"Good, Sir." Isabella.

"Then, you don't need to hold back against Duke Hilbright. The queen says she's on your side."

Isabella widened her eyes. He could take revenge on Duke Hilbright. There was no need to be afraid to hurt Leticia for killing her father. He would not waste the opportunity that Leticia gave him.

Isabella thanks Gerald. Then take the magic stone to contact Dale.

While Gerald was still contemplating his goal after becoming Emperor. It knows. His life is still useful. He'll make Judith hate him for killing Braun. Judith killed him and became the next Emperor. This cycle of revenge will end in Judith, as Gerald has no intention of getting married and having children if not with Leticia. Gerald would wait until Judith grew up, then wait for her death peacefully.
