“Boo...” I turned to hear Bayu's voice when we were both on the front page of Dad's house, in front of Bayu's jeep but I was still staring at the porch of the house.
There was still our father, grandfather, Wildan and the old housekeeper staring at us, between us. The last chat with grandfather before Bayu and I went home, he agreed with my request to hand over the inheritance to my mother.
Also, about dad saying that this is my home. From his words are very deep in my heart. I never thought I would hear someone I just met today waiting for me to come home, not from my mother or Daniel whom I knew as my family.
As I was about to open the car door, I once again turned to look at those people on the porch of the house. Dad waved that automatically made a small smile rise on my face. I waved back and immediately got into the car.
Then the car that was driven by Bayu slowly drove towards the gate of this large house. My heart feels mixed now. On the one hand I longed for the warmth of a family, but on the other hand I was determined and decided not to interfere with the family life of the father, just want to live a normal life, away
of all danger.
My gaze stared out the car window, watching another vehicle speed past our car. Since then there was no sound from me or Bayu, there was only the sound of the car engine and the sound of a horn from a distance.
I realized that I was daydreaming now, resting my head on the car window. Occasionally closed because the movement of all objects on the side of the road moving quickly made my head a little dizzy.
Until the car driven by Bayu stopped after ten minutes on the trip. I had no intention of moving in my position when I heard the sound of the car door opening.
Bayu got out of the car leaving me with the engine still on, feeling a void on my right side that somehow made me uncomfortable, then I immediately got up and noticed our stopping place.
The car was stuck in a large parking lot right in front of a large supermarket. Many people passed by and out of that door, carrying their groceries.
I don't remember Bayu being mentioned about him having to stop shopping first. I decided to wait, considering the car engine was still on sign the man would not be long.
Five minutes later, from the glass door that opened automatically in front, Bayu's body figure came out from there carrying a crackle. The way he walked that looked gallant made me secretly smile small.
My eyes looked at him who was directly into the car. He smiled slightly and gave his grocery crackle to my lap.
“What is this?”
“Something that might make me better.” He answered while putting his seat belt on.
I immediately opened the contents of the crackle in which there are three Sunkist oranges, three chocolate almonds, and two ice cream cups.
“Chocolate and ice cream are still good, but why is there a sunkist all of a sudden?” I'm confused.
“That's your favorite orange.” The answer is short and immediately step on the gas pedal to join other vehicles on the highway.
I couldn't hide my big smile, this man didn't say anything and bought all of this to make me feel better. He didn't even ask about my conversation with dad. This guy understands me, he'll be waiting for me to tell him himself.
Bayu knows that I don't like a chatty man to know all my personal affairs. Maybe this is one of our matches because Bayu has never been chatty or demanding a lot of explanation about my problem, he will wait for me to be ready to share with him.
“Thank you. Just by you buying all this, I've been so much better.” This time I looked at him for attention. Bayu smiled back at me as his hand lifted to rub the top of my head.
“Before we get to your house, I want to buy you some food first. What foods do you like?”
“I'm not sure what you like lately, but—“ Bayu fell silent, thinking hard.
As this man thought about it, I began to open one of the Sunkist oranges whose scent immediately smelled fresh in the car.
“Alright, it looks like I know a suitable place.”
.
..
…
“It seems like a long time ago I did not come here.” I said right after Bayu turned off the car engine in front of the garage door that was still closed.
When I was in High School, I did occasionally play at Bayu's house, the last time I remember the color of Bayu's house paint was still white, now the paint changed to orange. The fence and the location of the plants in the front yard are also updated to be more neat and dense.
“At home there is only Mother, and it looks like there is arisan.” Bayu answered looking at the door of the house that opened half of it. There was noise and laughter from inside.
“Where's Alisya?” I asked to suddenly remember that Bayu had a sister who was three years different from him.
“She was busy putting together her final college assignment. So it's rare at home.”
“Come through back door.” Bayu continued to invite me to come down immediately.
I immediately brought the food that Bayu had bought and the special one I bought for the mother before getting out of the car. Then this man took my hand, pulled her to come into the back door of the house.
“Oh? Boy Bayu, already home!” Suddenly a short, mature woman with an aura to her mother passed us by the kitchen door.
“Iya bi, mommy is busy again huh?” Bayu asked without any intention of letting go of his hand to me.
For a moment, this woman glanced at our interlocking hands, then rose to look at my face and smiled broadly. “Yes, madam again ngadain arisan. Want auntie to call?”
“Engga efforts! Let alone.” Answer Bayu quickly. I glanced at my watch, now it still shows ten o'clock in the morning. Today is another long morning.
“Then, auntie excuse me.” The fly stepped past us.
I had time to look at his back that was getting away, stepping out of the yard until the pull of Bayu diverted me.
He raised both of his eyebrows when my gaze had already been completely sidetracked to him. “Why?”
I shook my head to answer the question, actually I only remember when I first met the house maid Bayu, the woman looked very young with a thin body.
This man took me upstairs. Permit me to sit on the sofa in the living room, there are TV and PS also shelves next to the TV screen containing various types of books that are partly shabby. Just a glimpse of the color I can tell it's a children's book.
Bayu took a moment to get into his room which was a bit at the end, he was told that the mother deliberately moved Bayu's room there because considering he was rarely at home since working in the military.
As I was looking through picture books with folktales on the shelf near the TV, Bayu suddenly appeared beside me and pulled my hand.
“I allow you to see my room.” He said as we walked to his room.
