“You've brought me shopping. There's home! Bye!”
“Eh Uh!! Ko pamitnya very ordinary?” I stopped moving my hand that was about to open the gate, turned to look at him not understanding.
Bayu snorted in annoyance, his lips curled downwards and both of his eyebrows furrowed. His position still sitting on his trial bike did not make me intend to approach him. We both stayed in our own places.
“Engga in bargain enter first?”
“You what?”
“You don't think about things ‘kan?” Bayu looked at me as his eyes narrowed suspiciously. I chuckled, then stepped closer to him and stood beside him.
“Home. Hehe. Wait here, I want to save this first and we go out again.”
Bayu smiled happily while nodding. I quickly entered the house and placed the groceries on the kitchen table. Then I took a quick step towards the exit, before I actually came out, I turned on the light of the room I was passing by.
But my steps came to a halt when I heard the sound of items falling from the study used to be used by Aunt Rose. The room I rarely used, out of curiosity I stepped quickly towards the door.
I quickly opened the door knob that felt cold in my palm and as usual, the room was dark, nobody.
While looking for the light switch, I stepped in to make sure the window was still locked because there were thieves who entered through the window.
A BRUUKK!!
My body felt pushed hard from behind by someone until I felt my right shoulder feel numb from being hit by something hard. The still dark room couldn't make me see who was pushing me.
“Who are you?!” That's a male voice. I could only see his shadow standing in front of me.
I was not able to answer yet, I was still grimacing in pain with my head suddenly feeling dizzy. The push is hard.
“What are you doing in my house?!” I beat him up pissed.
“Icha?” Suddenly his tone of voice turned even smoother. Like he knew me. Although it still felt throbbing pain, I jumped quickly to my feet and immediately turned on the light switch that was not far from my reach.
As soon as this room was bright, I could clearly see a middle-aged man in his tidy clothes had stood not far in front of me. His partially colored hair turned white, his eyes looking amazed at me.
For a moment I didn't recognize him but seeing the look on his face I started to remember him.
“Dad??” My shocked and disbelieving tone of voice looked at this man. I haven't seen him in nearly twenty years.
I never knew how his face changed. And surprisingly Dad stood in front of me like this.
“What are you doing here?”
“Yes my daughter father is mature and beautiful.” Dad walked over to me while stretching out his arms to hug me.
I was still in shock and could not believe just silently staring in place, momentarily feeling the warm temperature of my father's body. The perfume felt foreign to me.
“Dad misses you so much. Didn't think you were an adult, last I saw you you were still this tall.” Dad played his hand gesture to measure how tall I used to be.
Whether I had to react like what, I was happy to meet with dad but I also felt a regret that suddenly hit hard, remembering how I last saw dad. Highlight angry, disappointed it is still clearly reflected in my memory.
The father who let go of my hand to leave the house, who called out a disappointed tone was fixed on me, when I was only a five-year-old child. Even I'm not sure if it's true that he's the father I've been missing for almost twenty years?
Not yet father replied, suddenly Bayu was already standing in the doorway with a worried expression. As soon as he saw me and dad, that expression changed more calmly.
“Who is he? Your boyfriend?”
“If I answered he was my husband, would you be surprised?” I answered quickly before Bayu answered.
Suddenly the emotions of disappointment could no longer hold me. I'm an adult, my mind will revolve around thinking about all sorts of reasons you're going to tell me.
When he came back after almost twenty years of never seeing me, when I almost forgot his face, when I was not expecting his presence, let alone when he came to my house without telling me.
I don't know why I've guessed what you're going to say. Perhaps the same reason that my mother hated me was that my father stood before me again.
Errata! I was found in my house.
“Suy? You're married? When's? Why didn't you invite dad?” Dad turned protective, I could feel his tone and his gaze looked fake.
Suddenly the father walked over to Bayu and pulled the man's arm towards the living room sofa. I who saw him could only sigh deeply, actually I still did not want to meet him. Should I feel this feeling?
“You're Icha's husband? Whatis yourname? Where do you work? What did you promise my daughter when you got married?”
“Oh Hello Om, sorry to introduce yourself. I'm Bayu. I bu—“
“Tell dad what?” I asked him directly, looking at Father who was already sitting on the sofa with Bayu. While displaying an expressionless face looking at him sharply.
“What are you saying? Should a father not visit his daughter? Looks like you're alone living here, what if you come with me back home?”
“Home? Since when did you offer me a home?”
“Nak, father's daughter! Don't you miss dad? We haven't seen each other in a long time.” Dad was already standing up to me but I stepped back reluctantly close to him.
I want to cry now, my feeling is that everything feels fake right now. What have I longed for, father's attention, his affection?
Suddenly the phone that had been in my pants pocket vibrated a sign of a call coming in, when I saw the name on the screen, I exhaled slowly before answering.
“Halo, what's up bu?”
“Where are you? Did you meet your father?”
“Hmm.. She came to home.”
“Icha, mom will be coming there soon. Take it easy you don't be afraid.”
I smiled a little, mother's panicked voice over there was warm. After I muttered softly, the connection was cut off.
Imagining mom frantically running around looking for a public vehicle to get here makes me happy. It's been a long time since mom has been so quiet and caring like this.
“Your mother will come?” I nodded in response to Dad's question, seeing how his change of expression quickly became more serious.
I can't lie if I miss you so much, but this feeling seems to have been neglected for a long time.
“How can father get into this house?”
“Your mother told me.”
