My eyes were round in disbelief with Bayu's presence at half-time three in the morning, especially at the vacation spot that Evano's father had planned.
He was wearing a black hat and the grin was getting wider because I did not move to greet him in the doorway.
“Eh, surprise? Did my arrival really upset you?” Ask her.
I blinked several times making sure this real man was in front of me. Without waiting any longer I smiled widely and half ran up to him, jumping into his arms without caring I would make us fall.
Bayu laughed in my arms, he took a step back and held back his footing when I could not hide my happiness due to his presence, to jump around hugging his neck until my feet floated
on the floor.
I inhaled deeply the fragrance of her body, enjoying every breath I took because Bayu was really real in front of me right now. In addition to the perfume, Bayu smells like rain and fresh wind.
“I love you.” Her gentle whisper made me not want to let go of the hug, but I pulled myself back, stomping the floor back to stare more clearly at her face.
Both of my hands cupped his face, paying more attention to the details to see the difference from a week ago.
There were bruises on the corners of her lips, small scratches on her cheeks and chin, her eye bags deeper as if she was staying up a lot of times, the hat that covered part of his face I raised higher so that his face could be seen more clearly.
Although the look in his eyes looked exhausted, but the twinkle was happy because he was looking at me clearly.
“By god—I miss you so much.. but how did you get here?”
“Evenings after returning from the mission, I got your message about being invited to vacation here. It turned out that my flight passed through this place, so I asked permission for a few hours to land here before returning.” I nodded to give me an answer about the small wound on his face that looked still new.
“What time do you have to return to continue your journey?” I took her hand and invited her in.
Bayu glanced at the black watch on his left wrist and replied. “Jam six will be there to pick me up.”
“More or less three hours.” I nodded while helping him take off his jacket before he sat on the edge of the bed.
“I want to borrow P3K box first.” No need to wait for the answer, I half ran towards the door, exited the room and tried to find the villa clerk.
After less than three minutes, I impatiently received the P3K box from one of the villa clerks and ran quickly towards my room. I don't want to waste our time together for just one second.
As soon as I reached the room, there was a tap water sound from the bathroom, I quietly breathed a sigh of relief because it turned out Bayu was here. Not just my imagination.
Out of the bathroom, her face and hands were wet, the fragrance of bath soap came out as she stepped closer to me. In her hands was a small towel before she dried her face.
Now I can see more and more clearly the cuts and bruises on his face. Obviously the injuries are new and have not been treated.
“Sorry to me for coming in this condition.”
I shook my head and pulled her to sit on the side of the bed. “You're fine and come back to me, that's enough. Did the mission succeed?”
Bayu nodded while watching me who took out betadine and cotton. “Before I came here I called Evano's father first, he was very happy because I will see you, even for a while. Looks like he's worried you're gonna be moody on this vacation. He also told me about your working condition.”
“So?”
“Honey, how is it going? Already found the person who spread the gossip?”
I'm shaking. “But.”
“Need me to drop—“
“Don't try!” I threatened her while stressing betadine on the wound on her cheek.
Bayu grimaced softly but he just grinned. “By the way, I came just to take a quick nap.”
“Yes, you need that.”
“Of course! I know it.” We were both trying to hold back a laugh, silly but I so missed a moment like this with her.
Finished dressing the wound with plaster and putting the P3K box on a small table beside the bed, Bayu pulled me until we both rolled over on the mattress.
“Wait first! Your body, is anyone hurt?”
“No.” She hugged me very tightly, wrapped both her hands around my back and my head “but if you want to check it out, I don't mind undressing.”
I laughed and replied “then please open it. I want to check it.”
Our laughter both sounded louder before suddenly the lighting of the room went off and we were in the middle of the darkness.
“What's the time for electrical maintenance?” My toot.
“Let me check.” Bayu immediately got up without difficulty even though I became a burden on his body.
“I'm coming.” I said holding her hand tightly, though dark, but I looked up to see her face, but it was useless not to be seen.
Why is the timing so strange, power out when the villa owner is staying? This is a big villa, they should have a generator. Maybe it'll be on soon.
Bayu clasped my hand back and pulled me towards the door. Just two steps away, my feet were already stumbling against the foot of the bed which instantly made me scream softly.
This time though dark, Bayu just chuckled softly, mocking, his hand reached into his pants pocket and pulled out his phone, activating flashlight mode until now I can see it faintly.
Aye!
Why don't I think I put out the phone?
“Be careful, Boo. Bed feet ‘kan?” My reflexes pinch his hands, even in this state he can still joke.
The grimness and annoyance stopped when a voice outside the room sounded faintly asking for the cause of the lights off. The voice I know belongs to Uncle Kenzo.
Bayu pulled me back towards the door of the room but the thumping sound of falling objects stopped this man. He held my steps with his index finger pressed against his lips.
“That someone's voice fell.” He said while turning off the flashlight mode in his phone.
“Please do not say there are illegal transactions again like the incident of that time.” I was between nervous and angry.
“Wait here, lock the door, I'll check.”
I folded my lips trying not to say I was coming, but in the end I nodded. “Cautious.”
.
..
…
I didn't realize I was secretly counting to three five after Bayu disappeared behind the door, hoping that Bayu would soon emerge from there and say everything was fine.
The flashlight light from my phone illuminated this vaguely occupied room. When I arrived, I did not pay attention to this place. The room you are occupying is almost similar to a luxury hotel room.
One bed to fit two adults with a pair of chairs and a table in front of a TV plate and a private bathroom. The small cupboard and table next to it contained a set of mugs and an electric flask as well as mineral water in the bottle. Then there is a sliding glass door directly towards the balcony which is now covered in curtains.
Again I tried to get rid of the disturbed feeling in the depths of my heart. The danger radar instinctively warned me that this was no ordinary dead light. Hopefully wrong.
