I screamed in shock as the sound of an explosion that seemed to come from beside this building shook the ground and the building.
“What explosion is it?” Bayu who reflexively hugged me shouted behind him.
But before there was a response, a further explosion was heard again.
BUUMM…
This time it sounded very close, as if the explosion was beside this room.
I screamed as the ground and buildings shook as if they were about to collapse. Bayu who hugged me immediately let go and switched to grasping my hand very tightly.
He forced me to move, followed him out of the building. While running to align my steps with him and looking down, I did not have time to look around this house, but for sure this house is quite spacious.
The people wearing the same uniform as Bayu were also busy dragging out some of the prisoners still inside.
The cold and fresh air immediately hit my face as soon as we had already dashed out. The sky was still dark, I did not see the lights of the residents' houses, even though the houses were clearly all around this building. There was only a flashlight that directed people.
But, from the corner of my eye, there was an orange light that was slowly but surely getting bigger.
I gasped in shock as I looked back, finding a huge fire devouring something behind the building. While people were busy with fire and prisoners wanting to escape, Bayu continued to drag me away until we reached the dark square behind the houses. There are lots of parked cars.
There was someone there guarding the front of the car, the man wearing clothes like Bayu was staring at us, as if he knew what to do, the man was guiding Bayu to one of the cars.
The passenger door opened and glanced at me, waiting for me to enter.
“You wait here.” Sayu said after seeing me get in the car.
I have a lot of things to say to her, but I know it's not the right time. Then I just bite my lips and nod.
“This person will take care of you here. I have to go back.”
“Please be careful.” I let out a small sigh.
Although the light of fire in the distance seemed to faintly shine on us, but I could clearly see the look in Bayu's eyes that were reluctant to leave me alone.
He rubbed the top of my head for a while before nodding, then he immediately retreated to close the door of his car. After that Bayu turned to the man who opened the car door, patted the man on the shoulder and started running towards the storm.
I stared at his back which was getting further away, took a small breath and tried to remain calm while leaning back. My eyes glanced at the man, he returned to where he was standing earlier without saying anything.
Now, waiting is what I do.
.
..
…
This is very unusual. In unsafe situations like this, my eyes felt very heavy and several times I had to yawn wide from drowsiness until the corner of my eyes shed tears.
I don't know how many hours I waited, but in the midst of this sleepiness, I could clearly see the discoloration of the originally dark sky, slowly turning dark blue, signaling the sun was about to rise.
As my eyes were slowly closing, the man who had been silently guarding me outside the car suddenly turned to look at me. Checking my circumstances periodically as she talks in front of her walkie talkie.
The huge fire that seemed to be burning down the house slowly began to shrink in the distance, meaning they managed to extinguish the fire.
This comfortable feeling of relief further made my eyes heavy.
DORR!
DORR!
The sound of the second gun made me reflexively touch the door, wanting to get out of the car but the man on guard raised his hand so I wouldn't get out of the car. He looked alert, ready with a gun in his hand.
Is things getting worse??
However, my confusion grew when from a distance I could see two people wearing all-black uniforms like Bayu walking over.
I know one of them, from the way he walked it was Bayu.
Not long after waiting, two people who half ran when approaching the car had exchanged words with the man who was guarding.
Then Bayu, he approached the car door to open it and looked at me.
I frowned when I saw Bayu who did not speak directly, but he looked at me first with a long breath. From the look on his face, something was not right.
“What's up?” I ventured to ask while shifting to get closer.
“I don't want to involve you, but things are getting messy because of the explosion.” He grumbled slowly. The wrinkles on my forehead are getting deeper.
“Why?”
Before replying, Bayu glanced at the man who had come with him and the man gave Bayu a bulletproof vest. I don't know where that guy got it.
“Dia... lady named Cilia.”.
“Hm?”
“Threatens to detonate bombs in three adjacent houses if I don't take you there to chat with him.”
“Hah? Me?” Bayu nodded while helping me put on the bulletproof vest.
“We have no choice because the area of land here that has happened before landslides is more fragile if it has to be detonated by a bomb. If it all happens, most likely the landslide will occur from the top of the mountain there.” The explanation sounded soft in my ears.
My eyes looked for the mountain that Bayu meant, and I had to murmur softly because I realized there was a small mountain in front of us that looked dark and creepy. The sleepiness I felt didn't focus me.
“So, you want to help us, ‘kan?” asked Bayu after putting the vest on me.
I don't need to think long when answering, “iya. If you want to chat, I will do it, but—”
My eyes that look at him may look doubtful when Bayu answers, “ada that bothers your mind? Just say.”
My hands clenched at the thought that Wendy and the Asura lab doing these things were one of my mother's families. I don't want to embarrass Bayu in front of his co-workers.
“No.” I could only hold it on the tip of my tongue. I'd better focus on the one in front now.
“You don't have to be afraid because I'll be next to you. Snipers are also ready in their respective places and some people are looking for the bomb to tame.”
“and it's my job to buy time until you find the bomb.” Bayu's eyes curved, he smiled behind his mask, nodding and rubbing my head.
Then Bayu's hand grabbed my hand, asking me to get out of the car.
I could feel her cold, sweaty hands, but looking at her calm before me, really amazed me. Because she hid her nervousness, my steps became lighter as I followed her.
