Lambert was currently using his long sword with a great display of skill. He was currently locked in a battle against the heavy cavalry troops of Moscow in the fortress of a large stone fortress. Lambert had long since entered the Teutonic Order, and because of the favoritism that the Grand Master had shown him, he quickly rose in rank. Currently, he led an army of men to break through the walls of the Rus fortress, which was laid on their way to Moscow. These past six months, the Teutonic Order has thrown everything at Moscow and is not far from seizing Moscow.
Just when Lambert thought he had defeated his opponent, the man slashed his heavy cavalry sword towards Lambert's large basket; unfortunately for Moscow, the, Lambert was covered from head to toe on the steel plate and was completely unaffected by the attack. Instead, he managed to catch Moscow off guard, and by shifting his grip to the sword, Lambert was able to land the killing blow on his opponent's helmet effectively. After the hilt of his sword was connected to the Moscow man's iron helmet, the man collapsed to the ground, where Lambert could be on top of it and aim his sword through the Moscow man's iron sheath; stabbing the man's throat sent him into the afterlife.
After killing the man, Lambert looked around to see his men had cleared the enemy's position; at this point, the only area left with the enemy army was the fortress. Once they forced their way into the area and cleared all the survivors, the fortress would fall into the hands of the Teutonic State. Therefore, Lambert rushed to the front of the commotion and ordered his troops forward.
"Take the stash!"
Leading the way with a sword in hand, Lambert charged towards the guard gate, which was forbidden from the inside. It didn't take long for the battering ram to arrive, where Lambert and his troops broke down the door revealing a group of heavily armored elites, dressed from head to toe in typical Rus mail and plate armor. After the Keep door is broken into, a frenzy of chaos breaks out as Teutonic knights and Moscow elites fight to determine who will be the winner. Despite fighting until the last man, the Muscovites soon found themselves slaughtered like ordinary pigs, leaving the besieged fortress at the hands of the Teutonic Order.
The days passed while Lambert and his men cleared the fort of signs of battle and strengthened its defenses. Lambert and his army of 2,500 men were left to defend the region. However, before long, the defenders of the fortress that had just been snatched saw the allied banners fluttering in the wind. The distinctive white field decorated with black crosses can be seen in the incredible numbers carried by the many iron-clad men below them. The Grand Master and his army finally arrived.
Upon seeing that the battle was over, the Grand Master was impressed by Lambert's abilities; he was truly a great commander, and the older man patted his own back for recognizing such a talent. The Grand Master quickly passed through the gate of the fortress, where he got off his horse and greeted Lambert.
"Brother Lambert, I see you managed to capture this fortress despite being outnumbered!"
Lambert smiled at the praise from the old man who had helped him a lot during his time with the Teutonic Order. However, he quickly noticed the letter that was in the man's hands and asked.
The Grand Master handed the letter to Lambert and briefly summarized the contents as the boy read it.
"The King of Germany is dead, and with his death opens the opportunity to get rid of the heresy of Berengar. While the rulers of the German kingdom fought among themselves for the throne, which is nothing more than an honorary title, the Pope has ordered me to send an army to clean up your brother's mess. Given that we will soon end this war, I have decided to send 10,000 men with you on orders to bring down your brother's heretic."
Upon hearing those words, Lambert's eyes gleamed with excitement, and an evil smile formed on his face, it had been almost 8 months since he had been exiled, and he spent most of that time honing his skills in battle. He never forgave his family for what they had done, especially Berengar and Linde. He would never forget the humiliation he had suffered at their hands; therefore, he was eager to accept the mission. Therefore, he knelt down in front of the Grand Master and spoke with the face of the knight.
"It would be an honor!"
Although the Grand Master knew this matter was very personal to the boy, he did not care. At least, Lambert was acting pious, and in the end, that was all that mattered. Therefore, he gestured for Lambert to rise as the Grand Master led him to the troops Lambert was about to lead. Not only were 2,500 people already under his command among their ranks, but he was also given a large number of veterans to take with him. It took several months for the troops to march from the Moscow border to Kufstein; during this time, Lambert would be looking forward to avenging his brother as he had planned for so long.
After all, if the Pope supported him in his efforts to end his brother's rule, then obviously God must be on his side, or so he thought. Unfortunately for him, Berengar had rapidly expanded his army over the past 6 months. Although he might have been outnumbered when the Teutonic Order finally arrived with their first invasion, he would definitely not have been outgunned. So the army marched back to the homeland with the intention of killing a heretic and slaughtering people from its land; from there, from there, they will spread throughout the warring German states and destroy as many heretics as possible, like the divine will!
