Finding a Substitute

With Adela gone, Berengar quickly finds himself thrust into his work once again. He must find an instructor to replace him as a teacher for Kufstein's children in his absence. Unfortunately, implementing his public education system turned out to be slower than originally thought. Therefore, he is currently interviewing a candidate for the position that Adela left behind.

The young man before him was one of the sons of the late Marshal. Despite being responsible for the murder of Marshal Friedhelm von Thiersee, Berengar had managed to shift the blame for the man's death to his younger brother. Thus gaining the von Thiersee family as valuable allies. Currently, the second son of the family was sitting in front of Berengar. At the same time, the young regent conducted in-depth interviews about whether the man could teach the regional children in primary education or not.

The first thing that is important is to determine whether the man understands the basic material or not. Over the past hour or so, Berengar had given the young man a basic arithmetic and language test, which the man had brilliantly passed through. Afterwards, Berengar gave her a booklet containing the learning materials that had been distributed to the students to see if she really understood the contents.

The young man was named Frederick, and he was relatively average-looking in all aspects. He was a studious and quiet man who perfectly exemplified the ideals of a noble scholar. Frederick shared the same dirty blonde hair and emerald eyes as his older brother. The young man looked at Berengar with a passionate smile as he repeated the section of Social Sciences that contained Berengar propaganda.

"German people are a distinct ethnic group among Germans living in the German-speaking regions of Central Europe. It should have been the goal of every German to unite under one cohesive Empire free from foreign influence. Only by uniting with each other can the German people pursue their destiny in Global Hegemony."

To be honest it was a propaganda piece drawn from the teachings of a certain regime from Berengar's previous life, but if he was going to build an Empire, the Fatherland would have to be unified as its core. Berengar had distributed the map for visual reference, which contained the territory he wanted to enter into his future Empire. The map is essentially an exact copy of the Greater German notion of a certain Austrian Art student, with the addition of the Littoral Adriatic and the foothills of the Alps.

After confirming that Frederick could teach the Children, Berengar approached the man with a smile on his face and shook his hand.

"It seems you are more than qualified to teach children; you start tomorrow. I promise you'll be paid a fair wage."

The young man nodded in agreement and revealed his inner thoughts."

"I am glad to serve the kingdom, my lord."

"If you know anyone else who is suitable for the position, let me know. I want to expand public education throughout the Barony and need qualified instructors."

Frederick smiled at Berengar and pulled out the list of names he had prepared for this topic and handed it to the young master. Berengar was confused by this action, but he took a sip from his beer mug while reading the roster. Most of the names inscribed on a piece of paper came from the younger generation of nobles, many of whom she met at her engagement ceremony.

Frederick smiled as he shared his thoughts with Berengar

"Many of the noble children in this world are fully educated and inspired by your actions. They want to support you in any way they can, and since they're staying home and wasting their lives, I think I can do it." convince some of them to take up teaching as a way to stem their boredom and be productive."

Berengar's smile grew wider as he held onto Frederick's shoulder and thanked the man for making such a list.

"You have no idea how important this list is to me; I had a challenging time trying to convince people to take the position of a teacher. With this list and your help, I can greatly speed up the process!"

Frederick grinned as he enjoyed the praise of the young master. Now that Lambert was removed, those who had previously allied with Berengar lived in fear of his retribution or tried to siphon him away. Coming from the family of one of Berengar's supporters, Frederick had received many benefits due to the services of his elder brother. For starters, she is prioritized in the areas she wants to work in. As a studious young man, Frederick was more than willing to teach his knowledge to children and continue his own studies of the materials Berengar provided.

The two men continued drinking and chatting for some time about Berengar's plans for royal education. However, Berengar ignored his imperial aspirations; evident from the maps he drew and propaganda in his social studies curriculum that he wanted to become Emperor. Knowing about all the revolutionary innovations Berengar had discovered and his kind character, Frederick inevitably supported the Young Regent in his quest for power.

Frederick couldn't possibly know it at this moment. Still, one day he would become the Minister of Education for the Great Kingdom of Berengar, and it was at this time that Berengar gained another loyal and competent supporter. Together the two men will achieve great things on the road to power. Berengar spent the rest of his time chatting with Frederick and building a valuable friendship, but soon his duties were called and he was forced to return to work. For a Tyrant, there was never a pause in his busy life.
