Defeating the Rebels

Weeks have passed since the meeting in Innsbruck and the founding of the rebellion against Berengear county. Letters have been made and sent around the world alleging Conrad's death and Berengar's attempt to wrest the Duke's position from the demanding Liutbert.

As Berengar had pointed out, his allies soon began to back up his claim; as for Upper and Lower Austria, it was technically the crown land ruled by Conrad, who was the land of Conrad, the dead were thus under Berengar's control. The others were led by a Count who was smart enough not to get involved in this conflict; his territory was already too bloody in the Bavarian vassal population.

Thus Austria was officially once again; however, despite rebel forces advancing on Kufstein, Berengar did not withdraw his troops from rebel territory. Instead, he used the troops there to establish control over the region and take over the successors of the rebellious nobles.

When the Rebel Army finally made it into Kufstein, Berengar met him in the field with his own troops. The mercenaries used to fight Berengar were roughly 5,000 men and were a considerable contest for Liutbert; most were from the Swiss Confederacy and were formidable fighters in battle. They were not afraid of the fairytale power of the Tyrolean Army, mainly because of their ignorance of the weapons and tactics used by Berengar's forces.

As for Berengar, he carried the strength of his own 5,000 men. As far as the enemy could see, there was no cavalry in sight. Instead, it consisted of various infantry and artillery units. Artillery is a mix of the 1417 12 lb Cannons and Schmidt Guns. Quite a number of new weapons have been created since their invention so that Berengar can install the entire battery with such a weapon.

This will be the first major battle to demonstrate the effectiveness of Schmidt's weapons and the fast-charging tubes his troops now equip. As the rebel army entered the battlefield, Berengar ordered artillery to fire several light barrages and his infantry waited to fire their rifles until the enemy was within range of a yard.

The reason for this was simple, wanting an overwhelming victory, and the best way to achieve it was to let his six puckle guns shoot bullets at the enemy and quickly sweep the floor with the soldiers, he said, for that they need to do it within 75 yards in order to be the most effective.

As such, his cannons fired bullets into the enemy mix, but they had high determination and discipline. Thus, they looked through the artillery fire and towards Berengar's troops, who had maintained positions near the puckle gun stationed between their ranks.

Although the bullets destroyed the enemy ranks, a little. So the payment to the Swiss Liutbert had paid to pray God over as they looked to the approaching fire.

When the archers finally reached the engagement distance, they started firing one arrow shot towards the Tyrolean army, but even so, the Tyroleans stood firm, their superior armors deflecting many of the incoming blows, there were no deadly wounds that befell them as they simply stood still with determination .

Meanwhile, the Swiss soldier, the old Prince of Kustenland and twirling his beard between his fingers while laughing at the terrain scenery.

"It seems that the effectiveness of the Berengar weapon is greatly exaggerated! I feel confident that Innsbruck's army will be fully capable of defeating Tyrant Berengar's army."

Hearing this, some of the nearby nobles agreed with the Count's comments. As for Liutbert, he only smiled bitterly while thinking to himself.

'these bodo people don't know what they've done...'

Shortly after the Count's statement, the Swiss mercenaries advanced to the engagement distance, and here the Berengar army showed their full strength. As the Rebel line moved beyond the 100-yard mark, Tyrolean infantry formed a line and began firing volleys into the Swiss army's formation.

As they did so, the mini-ball flew out and pierced through the mighty brigandine and swiss-paid plate armor and tore their flesh beneath it. Blood splattered into the field, and limbs scattered over the meeting. A blood-curdling scream immediately filled the air, and the Swiss began to fear the outcome of this strange rumbling weapon.

However, before they could even think of retreating, a second shot had been fired by the Tyrolean infantrymen, who quickly filled their rifles with a quick charge. However it was not the worst; the first round shots fired from the six Schmidt guns directly penetrated the Swiss Army's armor and armor and into their bodies and limbs, which increased the increase.

A total of 96 musket balls were fired from the first shot of Schmidt's weapon along with a mine ball fired from the musket. However that was not the end of it, as the Musket was quickly recharged, and Schmidt's weapon quickly fired the speed of the next shot into the enemy line.

More than 20,000 bullets have been fired down in a matter of minutes. This was the result of a combination of the use of rifles, quick tubes, and Schmidt— weapons in total exceeding the ranks of the mercenaries and archers behind them. No one survived the Tyrolean onslaught. Before the enemy could even reach close range, they had been completed thoroughly by Berengar's forces.

As for the Rebel king, they leaked out what was done to their troops in such a short time with great fear. Just like this, their army had been completely! They could not imagine what would happen in their army if they could unite with the forces on their land!

Count who dropped his mount before instantly shouting in fear, "Reverse! We can't let Berengar's army catch us!"

However, before any of the Lords could do so, they saw Cavalry emerge from within the rows of trees surrounding the battlefield; Berengar had placed a group of cuirassiers close by to immediately besiege the revolting Lords as the battle favoured Berengar. Because of this, the enemy God soon found themselves besieged.

Count the fat one immediately tried to negotiate with the Cavalry

"We sure-"

However, before he could finish his words, the cuirassiers raised their pistols and fired them into the besieged Lords formation, tearing apart every last rebel in action. Their bodies quickly fell from their horses, turning into the same screen as the mercenary soldiers in the fields below. As for Liutbert, he quietly stepped aside and joined the Cuirassier Line without being noticed by the other rulers. Thus he was spared from their fate.

Shortly after, Berengar's forces began to clear the battlefield, and Liutbert was taken to Berengar; as the initial leader of this rebellion, he had to surrender, and therefore, Liutbert was brought to Berengar; as the initial leader of this rebellion, he had to surrender, he quickly found a sifter in front of Berengar, who was staring with a degree of arrogance in his sapphire eyes. Liutbert immediately threw away the words he expected he would encounter.

"I am Viscount Liutbert von Habsburg, hereby declaring my unconditional surrender to Count Berengar von Kufstein, in doing so I renounce my claim to the title of Duke of Austria for the Grace of his Berengar von Kufstein, may he reign!"

With this said, Berengar smiled before patting Liutbert on the shoulder; in doing so, he voiced his first command as the official Duke of Austria.

"Rise..."

With this, Liutbert got up, where Berengar quickly reprimanded him.

"Viscount Liutbert von Habsburg, as Chancellor of my Kingdom, you have instigated a rebellion against me, and for that, there is a strict punishment. With this I release you from your position as Rector and order you to return to Innsbruck, where you will continue to rule that area as Viscount."

From the beginning of this plot, Liutbert was aware that he would lose his position as Chancellor, but to be honest, he was quite relieved. The work was entirely made up of him who delegated a large amount of work from Berengar; it began to pile up to an unreasonable level.

Now that Berengar was the Duke of Austria, he could not imagine the sheer number of documents he had to do. So retiring to Innsbruck and living out the rest of his days as a pampered noble was a much better choice for him. Therefore, he responded with a warm smile on his face.

"Yes, Your Majesty."

With this, the most rebellious Austrian Rulers were defeated in one battle; their deaths allowed their successors to take over, the, the Berengar army would be heavily armed to occupy their lands to obey his rule. Berengar was now the undisputed Duke of Austria, and with it, had gained much power and prestige. But for an ambitious man like Berengar, this was not enough.

As for his immediate concerns, his goal was to consolidate his power and work through diplomacy to elevate Austria's status from Duchy to Kingdom, allowing Berengar to declare himself King. This would take quite a long time to accomplish, and Berengar was in no hurry. So after defeating the rebel Lords in battle, Berengar returned to Kufstein to stabilize Austria and, by extension, his power.
