Steel Empire

Steel Empire
Revelation

A month had passed, and Berengar woke up once more as dawn broke. Lying next to her was Linde, who was lying under the bedsheets, her smooth strobery blonde hair gleaming in the sun. He was still asleep and had been sleeping through his morning practice lately. She was now roughly two months pregnant at this point, and because of that, Berengar allowed her much-needed rest, because he knew that no one else in the castle would wake up at this hour. However, she quickly got out of bed and started her daily practice. Today was a d*da-oriented day, so he used his bench press. Although he realized that he would never be as physically strong in his previous life in this life. Berengar still tends to exercise four to five days a week.

After spending half an hour lifting various weights, Berengar quietly came out of his room and did his daily run. She likes to run at least ten miles a day during the days of the week she works out. Therefore, he ran around the village in loose clothing in the morning when the farmers started working. Due to the recent industrialization of the territory, many commoners had decent working hours and were still resting at the moment. So the number of people who wake up at this ungodly hour continues to decrease. Berengar would wave and greet the commoners, but his main focus was his running. The only other people who woke up at this hour were the militia members in basic training. When their commander ran, starting his morning run, they all saluted him attentively; he paid respect as he continued running.

The fact that men can see their Master and Commander at the same time, engage in a practice routine like theirs, boosts their morale, as well as their trust in Berengar. He was a man who led by example and refused to sleep longer than his men. Berengar was also never really off from his job. He was so busy maintaining the industrial, agricultural, and military sectors in his territory that he felt like he was doing more work than his father. In fact, his father, the Baron, deliberately pushed his overwork to Berengar, hoping he could escape the stress. Still, Berengar accepted it calmly and exceeded his expectations in every way. This was one of the reasons Sieghard gave him the prestigious title of Regent. Berengar thrives when he is busy; he is not a person who can handle empty time well; when Berengar has free time, he is bored, and he always finds something to do when he is bored. Preferably something productive, therefore, he works harder than anyone he knows.

This is the nature of his previous life, where he had to work hard for everything he had. His family was not very rich growing up. Both of his parents worked full-time overtime. From a young age, he found himself helping around the house to reduce stress on his parents' shoulders. That was one of the reasons he had memorized all of his family's cooking recipes. As a child of German immigrants, his youth was filled with German cuisine, and when he reached a certain age, he handled cooking and cleaning the house while his parents were at work. By the time he was an adult, he had entered Westpoint, and upon graduation, was an officer in the military; therefore, he spent most of his free time looking busy. In his mindset, if you look busy, you may also be productive.

After finishing his run in roughly an hour and a half, Berengar returned to the castle, where he washed the sweat from his body in the private baths the family had built inside their castle. After coming out of his bathroom, over two and a half hours had passed since he woke up, and he was planning to finish some work in his room. He returns to his room to find that Linde is still asleep; now, the servants are awake and active throughout the castle; even his family members are out and about. The fact that the young woman was still in her room meant that there was a huge risk of returning to her room at this point. Berengar walked to the bed and went inside with Linde; he decided to invite the girl and caress her body until she woke up. She immediately felt him reaching out to her heavenly pay*have, and a smile spread across her face as she pretended to be asleep. However, as Berengar whispered in his ear.

"It's past 7:30 in the morning. If you keep sleeping, my family will find you here ..."

Linde immediately got up and got out of bed, shaking her hand from her breast.

"Master, why don't you tell me that it's so late!"

Berengar chuckled when he saw her wearing her nightgown from the previous night, with a wide grin on her face.

"You need sleep, so I decided to let you rest."

After putting on her nightgown, the girl dons her b*beer before escaping from her room in secret, carefully returned to her own room while making sure no one was aware that she had spent the night with Berengar. If Berengar did not wake her, she would definitely sleep long enough to cause a scandal. Thank goodness her boyfriend noticed her.

After Linde left her room, Berengar spent the rest of the morning checking her progress. Currently, the formation of a second artillery battery takes precedence over the ranks of the infantry battalions. Most of the new recruits were placed into the second artillery battery, while the gun factory began dispatching 12-pound cannons. He now had more cannons than cannons, which he thought was a good deal to have. Due to the increase in manpower, it was able to form a second steel production line within half of the first, and is now fully operational. With the increase in mine productivity after von Kufstein seized it from the Ulrich family, the steel-making factory was able to double its production. Any steel that exceeded his production ability was sold at a reasonable price to the contacts he made during his engagement ceremony. The armor he designed had been produced in large numbers for his troops, and a total of 1/4 of this number of his soldiers were now equipped with half-layer ammunition armor.

After investing in importing materials and establishing the use of inventions such as spinning mules, he can now make clothes for farmers and nobles at reasonable prices while largely relying on local production. Only super-luxury fashion cost him a fortune, fortunately he was still able to sell it at a considerable profit, thus expanding the already filled coffers of the Barony of Kufstein.

Today was an important day for Berengar; his two plans would fully bear fruit today. Over the past month, the marshal was slowly poisoned by the young master's spy until he nearly died. A little overdose today would free the world from one of Lambert's most powerful allies. Although doctors had examined the man, in the end, they were unable to find the cause of his illness.

The second scheme is much more important in the long run and will pay off today. Linde will tell the family that she is pregnant with Lambert's child, when in reality, it is Berengar's child. Since the night of Berengar and Adela's engagement ceremony, she had avoided Lambert as much as possible. The boy had approached her several times asking that they sleep together, but she kept rejecting him. Because of this, Berengar arrived on time at the breakfast table, where he waited patiently until Linde delivered the news. After the family enjoyed their meal for some quiet time, the young woman finally dropped a bomb on the family.

The girl's face instantly became confused as she said her words.

"I have an important announcement to make..."

After a slight pause that aroused everyone's interest, Linde looked at Berengar, then Lambert, and then returned to the table where the food was laid out. Finally, he said what he was told to say, without very critical details.

"I'm pregnant..."

Lambert was initially shocked when he heard the news. He should clarify the matter.

"You pregnant?"

Linde nodded in response.

Sieghard, on the other hand, interrupted and asked his own question

"It belongs to my son?"

Linde frowned at the comment and replied honestly

"Who else is going to be a father?"

With that said, a smile appeared on the faces of Lambert and Sieghard. They were happy with the news and could not wait to have a wedding. On the one hand, Lambert was happy because this confirmed Linde as his woman; even if he did not sleep with her, there was no one else either, either, he can therefore be considered as the only man who sleeps with a beautiful young woman who is considered one of the three heavenly beauties of Austria. On the other hand, Sieghard was only happy to have a grandchild, which he expected to see before he died. He also did not have high hopes of surviving the upcoming war. The two were completely unaware that the girl had never directly acknowledged Lambert as her father; after all, Sieghard had another son.

Lambert tried to hug Linde in response to the news, but the girl slapped her face in front of her family and yelled at him.

"Who said I forgive you!?!"

The young man quickly sulked back to his seat in silence. Berengar tried to restrain his evil grin. He has actually grown into a sadistic role over the past few months, at least when it was considered his enemies. Nothing gave him more joy than seeing his nemesis dangle in the hook he had given him. Lambert played Berengar's song perfectly, and the young master was not satisfied with it. She thought she should thank Linde for this exciting scene. By not directly acknowledging Lambert as his father, Linde essentially left the door open for Berengar to claim the child as his own later in life. Something where the young lady insisted on making it happen. So Linde's scheme and not Berengar's were cemented in history today.

Adela, on the other hand, never suspected Berengar as her father. Despite the fact that Linde has publicly declared war on the young girl and is vying for Berengar's affections lately. He had enough confidence in his fiancee that he would not do such a thing behind her. Also, she realizes the bad deeds Lambert was supposed to do, and the timing for Linde's pregnancy is a perfect fit. In a million years, the little girl would never suspect that Berengar had deliberately framed Lambert for the role of the father of his illegitimate son. Thus, a smile spread widely on his face as he felt as if with this news he had won the war against Linde; after all, after all, there was no way Berengar would be interested in a woman who was pregnant with her brother's child.

The conversation around the breakfast table quickly shifted to changing the wedding plan so that it could happen on the date at the earliest. Lambert's sixteenth birthday is later this week and she will finally be the right age to get married. Even though Linde acted as if she could accept those terms, she couldn't wait for the day until her lover obliterated her fiance. He prayed to God that Berengar could take Lambert down before his son was born. That way, the child does not have to worry about who the real father is.

The only person at the table who was dissatisfied with this result was Gisela. With this news, the Baroness realized that she could never escape her future daughter-in-law. A young woman he hated. Worse, Berengar's romance with the prostitute has resulted in him experiencing great confusion about the true descendants of his future grandchildren. Just like Adela, Gisela would never have guessed that this was all a ruse by her eldest son for pinning parents on Lambert. After all, he was unaware of the war his two sons had waged in the shadows.

With this news, families at least pretend to enjoy a nice breakfast. Later that day Berengar would complete his other plan to screw up his younger brother who had already tried to kill him three times. Berengar was a man who did not easily forgive his enemies, and Lambert would soon feel the anger of his older brother.
