It had been almost a week since Honoria and the ship she was aboard first departed from Constantinople; they quickly passed through the Bosphorus and into the black sea. During this time, he lived entirely in the captain's quarters, where he was allocated as his personal space by Agnellus.
The man usually brought him and his pet eagle, Heraclius, food, and water to sustain themselves. Honoria didn't have much to do all this time, so she simply comforted herself by daydreaming about how it would be when she finally arrived at Kufstein and met Berengar in person.
She was like a young girl who had her first crush; although she had never met the man, she could already imagine what he looked like. He imagines Berengar having blond hair and blue eyes because he mistakenly believes that all Germans have them.
However, the image on his head was slightly different from that of the original Berengar. His imagination of Berengar was unharmed from the battle and had no blinders. He also had shoulder-length hair that was mid-split and not as handsome as his real man.
He would be very surprised when he finally met the real Berengar and realized that he was even more handsome than he thought. Nevertheless, in his mind, he imagined all sorts of scenarios. Maybe she would leave her two women and marry him instead. Or maybe he would do something embarrassing like adding it to his harem.
He began to blush as he imagined the thought of a lowly noble guarding an imperial princess like her in his harem; it was too outrageous for his inexperienced mind to handle; therefore, it was too outrageous to be handled by his inexperienced mind; therefore, he quickly shook his head and put it first onto his pillow.
Heraclius just looked at the girl as if she was an idiot and screeched in response. Hearing her voice made Honoria look out from the top of her pillow and glare at the bird. It was clear that he was offended by whatever the bird said.
Whether Honoria understood the words of the eagle or was simply so familiar with the bird that she knew the general intent of its screeches, the fact remained that she was unhappy with what Heraclius had said, and because of that, he punished her.
"I don't! You must think of your words Heraclius!"
However, his pleasure was quickly interrupted by a knock on the door and the voice of Agnellus behind him.
"Can I come in?"
Honoria rushed to the door and slightly opened it while peeking outside. Seeing Agnellus' friendly gaze, he heaved a sigh of relief before asking the question in his mind.
"What's that?"
Agnellus instantly started scratching his chin as he told the princess about the progress of the current journey.
"We will cross the Imperial border in the Black Sea and enter the Danube. When we reach the first major city in Wallachia, we will stop for supplies and trade. If you want, you can stretch your legs and get some fresh air. If you want to take a walk to the city, I suggest you stay close to me. You never know who wants to hurt you."
The older sister Agnellus had reminded her to be careful of Honoria, and as such, she had no intention of letting harm befall the innocent and innocent young girl. If something were to happen to him under his watch, the Byzantine Imperial Family would slaughter his entire family in retaliation if they found out.
Upon hearing this, a sweet smile formed on Honoria's pink lips. He was excited to get out of this cabin and see the world. Therefore, he quickly nodded his head and expressed his desire to get off the ship when they arrived.
"I look forward to it; I promise I won't cause any trouble!"
After hearing this, Agnellus sighed before muttering softly.
"Don't make promises you can't keep..."
Of course, Honoria did not hear what she said, and therefore, Agnellus left without incident. Agnellus was a practical man, and having Honoria on board was already a huge risk, but taking her to a town in Wallachia, she would definitely cause trouble. Nevertheless, he could not continue to lock her up throughout the journey. That's inhuman.
Honoria quickly closed the door after Agnellus left and had a big smile on her face; she could finally see what this world was like! He could barely contain his excitement and immediately began to tell Heraclius about the good news. Of course, as an Eagle, he had excellent hearing and already knew the details of the conversation on the doorstep.
That did not prevent Honoria from repeating it.
"Heraclius! We will finally get to the solid ground! I can't wait to blend in with the local Wallachians; I wonder what they look like?"
Heraclius simply rolled his eyes towards the naive girl; he could already feel the headache of attacking; he would be forced to protect her from the bad guys once again, or so the arrogant eagle thought in his mind.
An hour later, the ship docked in a medium-sized river town along the Danube in Wallachia. The city is called Bronila and is the main port of Wallachia. After docking on the ship, Agnellus knocked on the cabin door, where Honoria quickly opened it with a big smile on her face.
Seeing the young princess so beautiful and innocent, Agnellus threw a set of less luxurious clothes at her that featured a shawl. After doing so, he said with a loud tone.
"Wear this, and cover your face at all times; I don't want any trouble because of your appearance."
Hearing this, Honoria was confused; after all, she was completely unaware of the level of beauty she naturally possessed. If he were to walk around naked, it would definitely attract attention.
Regardless of the question in her heart, she obediently and closed the door, where she quickly changed her fancy clothes and became something much simpler. He quickly covered his head and face with a scarf before revealing himself outside the cabin entrance.
The scarf resembled a catholic veil, and when combined with a veil, covered the girl's natural beauty perfectly, in addition to her glittering mint green eyes. Seeing him properly covered, Agnellus began escorting him down from the ship.
As they entered the city, Heraclius flew into the air, watching Honoria from above like a guardian angel. He had felt claustrophobic inside the cabin ever since they left Constantinople and needed to spread his wings for a while. However, she never let Honoria off her watchful gaze.
As for Agnellus, he made sure the young girl stayed close so that she did not get into trouble. While his crew is out buying the necessary supplies for the trip, and the others pay a visit to the local brothel, Agnellus is stuck babysitting the young princess.
Finally, the young princess saw a shop that caught her interest. It was a local tailor. He was so keen to see the local designs that Wallachian women wore; he was so excited that he ran ahead of Agnellus.
Upon seeing this, the man almost called out to her before realizing that he did not know what to call her, he very well could not call her by her first name, but if she used her honor, he would not be able to call her by her name, it would immediately remind people of her position.
So all he could do was chase after Honoria as she rushed towards the tailor. However, before Honoria could enter the building, she bumped into a well-dressed man and fell onto his butt; as she looked up, she looked up, he saw a young man with jet-black hair and yellow eyes glaring at him with anger in his eyes.
However, when she saw Honoria's perfect mint green eyes under her headdress, her angry gaze disappeared. And an evil smile appeared on his face. This young man was a mighty Wallachian Boyar, a high-ranking noble, and he was a quite handsome individual.
Because of that, she was extremely depraved, and she had enough experience to immediately realize the shape of Honoria's body hidden beneath her clothes. Seeing how she was dressed as a peasant woman, Boyar began to take advantage of the situation and scolded the girl in front of him.
"Do you know who I am? How dare you ruin my expensive coat! I demand payment!"
It was then that Honoria realized that mud from the streets had splashed onto the man's coat, and seeing how she had no money, she did not know how to react to this. Therefore, he lowered his head and apologized.
"I'm sorry, but I don't have the money to pay you for the damage I caused."
Hearing this, Boyar became increasingly convinced that the girl was a poor farmer, and thus he began licking her lips while imagining what kind of beauty this girl had hidden behind her veil. Boyar directly wrapped his arm around the woman's neck and dragged her closer while squeezing her chest before whispering in her ear.
"I know how you repay my bud..."
Sensing the man grabbing his chest, Honoria immediately flinched and slapped the man's face before making a distance between herself and the mighty Boyar. When he did, so he cursed him.
"How dare you touch me!"
After being slapped by the woman he believed to be the farmer, the man felt his inner rage rising, and thus he pulled out his sword on his belt and started yelling at Honoria.
"You dirty farmer whore! You dare put a hand on my perfect face; I will cut off your head!"
As he attacked Honoria, Hercalus swept down from the sky above with a shriek of anger; he had wasted no more than a minute to catch a rabbit nearby, but Honoria has got herself in trouble.
The eagle boldly rushed towards the princess' defense, where its claws pierced into the young man's sword hand, tearing apart flesh and bone, forcing the man to drop his sword. Coincidentally this was also the hand that the man used to attack Honoria.
The young man screamed in pain as he tried to expel Heraclius, but the more he did, the more damage he did to his hands. In this day and age, the damage done to the muscles in the hand is enough to ensure that Boyar never again uses the sword.
Thus, blood quickly flowed to the ground before Heraclius let go of the man's hand, where he flew back to Honoria's shoulder and shrieked in fear at the wounded Boyar. The anger in Heraclius' gaze was enough to intimidate the fool who started to dirty his pants. If Heraclius wanted to, he could have taken the young man's life.
The gathered crowd stood in shock as they watched a member of the local nobility being thoroughly defeated by the eagle. Even Agnellus was amazed at how far the bird would protect the girl.
Although he soon regained his senses from his shock, he quickly arrived before dragging Honoria and the bird away. After such an incident with a member of the local nobility, it was best to get out of dodging as quickly as possible. So, Honoria was taken back to the ship while Agnellus scolded her along the way.
"Damn it! I told you to stay close to you! This is the kind of crap I'm trying to prevent!"
On the other hand, Honoria frowned; she was shocked and disappointed at the sexual assault the local nobility had made on her out of nowhere and instantly became bitter over it. If he were still within the borders of the Byzantine Empire, he would reveal his identity in order for the man to be executed for such a heinous act.
He made this mental note and vowed to never suffer such humiliation again in the future. After returning to the ship, Honoria lay on her bed with a depressed expression on her face. He thought deeply about what had happened and immediately asked Heraclius a question.
"Count Berengar wouldn't be such a shameful individual, would he?"
The proud eagle just stared at Honoria with a frustrated expression, this girl inevitably got into trouble, and once again, she had risked her life to help her. Therefore, he simply rambled at Honoria before turning his head as if he were ignoring her, causing the young girl to further sink into depression.
As for Agnellus, he made sure no one saw them enter the ship and tried to gather his men as quickly as possible. Because of this incident, they had to finish their supplies in the next town. So before Boyar could retaliate, the ship had gone and traveled further to the Danube. Hopefully, they don't have to deal with the consequences of the scene that just happened.
Sorry the update is late.
