Steel Empire
An Entertaining Lecture

Berengar was currently in a makeshift classroom that was temporarily located in a local tavern in the town square. He is currently writing the alphabet on a chalkboard that he made with a piece of chalk. While observing the sound of each letter and the way it was read and written, he stared at the working class that had gathered to begin the process of primary education.

With 40-hour work sessions a week, there is plenty of healthy free time for many workers in his factory; therefore, there is plenty of time to spare, Berengar offers free drinks and food to anyone willing to come and learn from him and his staff for a few hours every day after work. It spread quite quickly because people could drink a light beer, enjoy a good meal, and educate themselves with short breaks to socialize in between. Workers, supervisors, and foremen all gathered in the town square as if it was a festive event.

Berengar always found that an entertaining educational approach was much easier to learn than a boring monotonous instructor who sucked all the information out of life. Therefore, he makes learning games and gives small prizes like drinks or extra dishes to anyone who can win his contest. It seems to work because ordinary people quickly understand basic language, math, and science. This was a temporary solution; of course, he intended to build an original educational building, and one day even a university. For now, when things are being built and organized, Berengar, Linde, and Adela are teaching the basic knowledge of the general public in their spare time. No matter how busy they are, Adela will teach the children from 10 am - 12 pm, Linde will teach the women from 12 pm - 3 pm, and the women will be taught from 12 pm,

Berengar was still on a quest to find learned people who had the ability to teach others, but it was a difficult task considering the educated population came mainly from nobles, or clergymen, or clergymen, neither of them really liked the idea of teaching.the commoners how to read, write, and basic arithmetic. Moreover, studying the concept of Science where Berengar began to teach, which was essentially heresy in the eyes of the Church.

Berengar was currently teaching basic sentences on the blackboard and seeing which of the men in his class could read them. He wrote down the German character for the phrase "Fair day's wages for a fair day's work" This is one of the many concepts he tried to instill in workers and nobles. He truly believed that people should be paid according to their hard work. After writing down his sentence, he looked towards the crowd and gave them another contest.

"Anyone who can raise their hand first and read a sentence correctly will get one more pint!"

Those people quickly started working through their alphabet sheets and deciphering the sentences. Finally, a skinny youth covered in soot from the furnace raised his hand in front of others, and once called, answered the question correctly.

Berengar called one of the women who worked in the tavern

"Woman bar, get me a beer for this guy!"

Shortly after, an attractive young girl came and poured a glass of beer for the man she happily accepted and immediately drank from his cup. Afterwards, Berengar asked the class a question to see if they understood what the expression meant.

"Now, this sentence is quite important to all of you. I believe that a man should be paid the amount appropriate to his work."

Beregar began strolling around the tavern, picking up a pint of beer, and began drinking it while continuing his lectures on economic philosophy during rudimentary language lessons.

"As a man under my work, you are given payment for your work. I also believe that the harder a man works, and the better the results he gets, the more he has to pay."

After saying that, he pointed at a man among the crowd and asked a question to him in front of everyone.

"You, sir, what's your name, and how many hours a week do you work if you don't mind me asking?"

"I am known as Reingard, and I work fifty hours a week my lord!"

Berengar then quickly pointed to another man and asked the same question.

"And you? What's your name, and how many hours do you work in a week?"

The man cleared his throat before speaking in an embarrassed tone

"I am Bruno, and I work forty, sir ..."

Berengar watched the anxious expression on the man's face and smiled gently as he comforted the man by his choice.

"There is nothing wrong with working forty hours a week. In fact, it gives you plenty of time to spend with your family or follow your passion. Both are important factors for the quality of men's work, and society as a whole."

After saying this, the man began to smile confidently, even after Berengar said the next part of his fiery speech.

"However, since Reingard works ten hours a week more than you, he is paid more than you and will most likely be considered for a raise or promotion in the future. We all make choices in life; we all have our own choices. It's up to you to choose a course that will make you the happiest."

Every man in the room carefully pondered Berengar's words of wisdom as if it was a creed to live by. Finally Berngar closed his lecture with a little humor.

"If you manage to find the perfect balance in life, please let me know how you set it up, because I'm so lacking in balancing my current affairs ..."

With this said, the slightly drunken crowd of workers began to laugh at Berengar's self-deprecating sense of humor. They could not imagine a man like Berengar not having a balanced life; the young man perfectly scheduled every moment of his time and taught them because of this. After the workers did a few good blows, Berengar began to chuckle and ended his class for the day.

"Good friends, get out of here and get back to your family, we all have to get up for work tomorrow morning, and lack of sleep is ruining your health."

After saying this, every man in the class came to thank Berengar for his free lectures, booze, and food. After a while, they all managed to return home, and Berengar had done the same. He still has a lot of work to do tonight before he can sleep. Her funny remark was no joke; now that she held almost absolute authority in Barony, she was flooded with work and could barely manage the time to check on her family, she said, who is currently mourning the crimes and punishment of Lambert. Even though the boy had lived, he would never return as a member of their family. Berengar had no time to worry about such things. Tomorrow the Inquisition will arrive, and he will have to host the church envoy. Hopefully, he can settle this matter peacefully now that Lambert has been dealt with.
