Advances in Medical Science

In Kufstein's Chemistry department, lead chemist Aldo von Passau has just made a significant discovery. Something Berengar had previously hinted at but not explained in detail. After discovering such a thing, the man began to question how Berengar could come to know this reality. He began to believe that God sent Berengar to lead humanity into a new golden age.

This important discovery is the basis of the Germ Theory. As part of Berengar's chemistry department, where the young Duke had spent a fortune building it, a microscope was put into the facility's equipment. In Berengar's past life, he was an engineer, not a biologist, or a chemist.

However, in order to graduate from university, he must have a basic knowledge of these subjects. Because of this, he has been teaching people in his chemistry department current basic level knowledge related to chemistry.

However, these people, especially Aldo, were very intelligent and eager to learn; therefore, Aldo was, they quickly adapted to Berengar's teachings and tested them to see for themselves what Berengar taught them was pure truth. Of course, Berengar also taught them the basics of science, such as the scientific method.

Berengar insisted on creating certain chemicals for medical production such as disinfectant alcohol and certain antibiotics used in antibiotic creams sold over-the-counter in his previous life, he didn't explain how these things work. Instead, he said with a wry smile on his face.

"You're a chemist; find out!"

The arrogant expression on the young Duke's face was as if he knew more about the subject than a man who had spent a lifetime studying the mysteries of the world like Aldo so as to really anger the chemist so he tried to prove Berengar wrong by using his methods against him. .

In the end, Aldo made a special discovery using a microscope on blood samples from infected cattle, and that was the presence of bacteria and how some bacteria could cause disease. This discovery caused a lot of shock in Aldo's mind, and he soon wanted to replicate this infection in some of the field mice he had collected.

Therefore, Aldo will spend the next few weeks cultivating harmful bacteria and infected field mice, where she would use antibacterial cream on one group while not using it on the other group to see if she had discovered the function of the so-called "antibacterial cream" of Berengar. ."

Meanwhile, Aldo would begin compiling reports on his findings, where he would hand them over to Berengar personally and see the reaction on the man's face. So Aldo spent hours writing his conclusions into a rather scientific thesis. After finishing it and letting it dry, it was late at night, and therefore, Aldo waited until morning to report his findings.

...

While Aldo advanced his knowledge of chemistry, and the basic theory of germs, Ewald, who was Berengar's court physician, was permitted by Berengar to study basic anatomy. Because of this, he had been given the ability to conduct research on the corpses of some enemy soldiers who had been brought back by Berengar from the battlefield.

Every time Ewald cut a corpse, and examined not only the anatomy of a human but also the cause of death of the enemy soldier of that man, he was shocked to find

found invention.

Not only was anatomy allowed to be practiced by physicians; he also experimented with microscopes on human blood, both life and death, and animal blood. Berengar happily pointed the man in the direction he needed most.

Because of this, the man began to make progress in the field of surgery and blood transfusions. Through the continued experimentation of the life and blood of a deceased human, and with the proper direction of Berengar and his knowledge of his past life, the, Ewald had also made a breakthrough in one of the areas he had studied.

The breakthrough was the presence of different blood types. He has determined that there are a total of three blood types, A, B, and C, as he labels them. However, he could not rule out the possibility of a fourth. Therefore, he would continue his research efforts in the future, but for now, he wanted to report his findings to Berengar as quickly as possible.

If the young Duke was impressed with his appearance, he might get more funding and staff to continue his research. Therefore, after clearing his laboratory, he headed to Berengar's office in a very hasty manner. Interestingly enough, he would arrive at Berengar's study room along with Aldo.

...

When Court Physician Berengar and his Kimia department head broke down his door unannounced, he knew something important had happened. When he saw the two men climbing up among each other to report their findings first, Berengar raised his hand, gesturing for them to calm down before speaking.

"Aldo, you go first."

With this, the man grinned complacently at Ewald before reporting his findings.

"Your Majesty, I'm sure you'll be happy to know that I finally answered the question I asked you a long time ago?"

Berengar smiled after hearing this, as he was well aware of what Aldo had learned for quite some time and thus gestured for the man to continue, as he placed his report on Berengar's desk relating to his understanding of basic germ theory, and as Berengar read it, his smile grew wider. While Berengar read his report, Aldo began to talk loudly about the results of his experiments.

"Your Majesty, I don't know how you know this, but it became clear to me that you know far more than you let. The more I experimented with the blood of infected creatures, the more I found evidence of so-called bacteria and their ability to cause disease in humans and animals.

I'm currently experimenting on some field mice on the effectiveness of the antibacterial cream you've ordered me to make, and I promise we'll see results soon. However, I feel you already know how it turned out. So I decided to report my findings before the study was complete."

"You're a real genius, Aldo; I was so impressed with your results in such a short time. Continue your good work, and I may soon be able to give you some new chemical compounds for you to work on! I'll also reward you for your findings. Mention what you want, and as long as it's within my capabilities, I'll give it to you."

Aldo bowed respectfully to Berengar before making his request

"If it's not too much trouble, I want you to send me a new group of young and learned so that I can help mold them into future Chemists!"

Berengar thought about it for a while before answering.

"Once I have a group of potential candidates, I'll send them towards you; you hold my word."

With this, Aldo smiled before thanking Berengar

"Thank you, Your Majesty!"

With that, Berengar turned his attention to Ewald, where he began to ask the man what was on his mind.

"Do you have anything to report to me too, Ewald?"

The doctor smiled before announcing the results.

"I have also made significant discoveries! By experimenting with human blood, I have discovered several different blood types; they are determined by the presence or absence of specific antigens in the blood. Currently I have seen three of these types.called blood types, A, B, and C!

A has A antigen in red blood cells and B antibodies in plasma! B has B antigens in red blood cells and A antibodies in plasma! C does not have A or B antigens in blood cells, but A and B antibodies in plasma!"

After hearing this, Berengar immediately understood C to blood type O from his previous life, and thus he decided to declare it as such.

"Should C be called O because there are no antigens in blood cells?"

The man thought about it for a while before nodding his head in agreement.

"That makes sense."

As with Aldo, all the scientific terms this man used were presented by Berengar when he helped them in their studies; without it, they would not know what to look for. Under Berengar's guidance, these two people had made significant breakthroughs in medicine, and Berengar was extremely proud. Therefore, Berengar's smile looked as big as possible as he praised Ewald.

"Good, Ewald, I will also reward you for your efforts; tell me what you want?"

The man nodded his head happily after hearing this and made his requirements known.

"Like Aldo, I also want more staff, but I will also ask for more funding as well."

Berengar nodded in agreement when he heard this and accepted the request.

"Done, I will approve more funding for the scientific field and divide it between your two departments; for additional staff requests, I will make the same appointment I made with Aldo. As soon as the right candidates appear, I will send them right away!"

With this, the two men were extremely grateful to Berengar and lowered their heads respectfully before leaving. After they had long gone from before Bernegar, the young Duke took out a glass and poured some distilled spirit he had made into it where he took a sip before sighing heavily, pouring out a heavy sigh, when Berengar did so he expressed the thoughts in his mind aloud. .

"Everything went well."

This scientific breakthrough was only the beginning; he could not wait until the day his people received proper medical care that did not depend on a backward medieval understanding. This is a significant first step towards building an era of scientific thinking, especially in the field of medicine!
