Steel Empire
An Extraordinary Victory

The thunder of a thousand guns fired in unison reverberated around the battlefield as the militias stood in their marching formation only twenty feet away from the enemy infantry. The front row knelt down and aimed their rifles, while the second row stood above them with the shotgun raised. Instantly a large amount of lead flying down annihilated the enemy forces. At best, enemy infantry were equipped with brigandine chest protectors. However, such obsolete equipment could not protect the people wearing them from the devastating effects of weapons.

As the Militia began to recharge quickly, the Pikemen standing nearby rushed forward and defended them as they quickly refilled their weapons. For the twenty seconds it took to reload, a sturdy spear wall was erected in front of the enemy, who desperately tried to break through and attack the people behind him. After witnessing the defeat of their cavalry, they had no choice but to go all out. Thus, a frenzied attack began when people threw themselves against the spear wall in an attempt to break through.

A single man dressed in a mixture of brigandine and plates managed to storm through the spear wall with a sword in hand as the surrounding people were trapped like pigs by an extremely long spear. He quickly slashed at one of the militias who were reloading their weapons. However, before he could finish his attack, he, the militiamen stopped his activity and lifted his rifle into the air with a bayonet thrust directly into the open basket of soldiers who dared to attack him directly through the man's eyes and ended his life.

This kind of scene appeared on the spear wall; given the importance of the militia and their hand cannons, the enemy infantry did everything they could to prevent another shot from being fired; after all, the enemy infantry did everything they could to prevent another shot from being fired; after all, they doubted this fellow could quickly recharge their weapons. Unfortunately for them, this is a miscalculation as most of the channels have been fully charged and are ready to fire again in seconds.

Before long, their weapons were once again directed towards their enemies, many of whom had yet to recover from the shock of their frontline being torn apart. The shooters quickly fell behind the line of fire and waited for the second shot to explode. Within seconds, the command to fire was given, and with Eckhard's command, another barrage of thunderous fire filled the enemy's defensive lines. Now, most of the enemy troops no longer dared to fight back and began to attack.

The Marshal's enemy looked horrified as he watched his Lord's glorious army being shot dead before his eyes. He had never witnessed such an overwhelming defeat. Although his forces were roughly equivalent to Berengar in terms of numbers, they were quickly overwhelmed by the mysterious weapons at the hands of his enemy's trained soldiers. His knights were dead, his infantry ranks were destroyed, and the little left of his archers had already begun to move.

Therefore, he quickly gave the order to retreat, while shouting to any troops who could still hear him.

"Retreat! Fall back to the castle! Back off!"

Unfortunately, his efforts were in vain as soon as the Marshal gave his command, Berengar's edict echoed in the air as he arrived with the Cavalry, which directly crashed into the routing forces, cutting them in the process. However, considering he was riding a horse, the Marshal managed to escape from the battleground where he quickly escaped back to the Castle to inform his subordinates about the disastrous outcome of this battle.

"Don't give me a quarter!"

The horrifying look of the chaotic battlefield was enough to make one's stomach churn. The enemy troops were quickly surrounded and stabbed at the weak points in their armor with bayonets and spears. Berengar slashed from the back of a horse with his sword decapitating a soldier who tried to attack him, he could not help but feel like this was the place he should be, leading his army to attack his shattered enemies. This was a truly humiliating loss for Barony Kitzbuhel, whose surviving army was quickly cut into ribbons.

After defeating the enemy army, his troops cheered and rejoiced. The enemy army had been annihilated, with only a pile of corpses left from their ranks. Since the archers were destroyed at the beginning of the battle, and the heavy cavalry were ejected early, the most serious injuries were some minor injuries caused by brave souls lucky enough to pass through the spear wall. If this was the larger army he was forced to fight, Berengar was unsure if he would get the same result. However, against an army of the same size, Berengar's weapons and tactics were too sophisticated to be fought by his enemies.

People within the ranks of the professional army were stunned beyond belief how effective the rifle was; this was definitely not an ordinary hand cannon. If not for the fact that they were veteran soldiers with a lot of experience, they might have failed in their duty to protect the militia members as they reloaded in shock.

Berengar, on the other hand, was impressed by his appearance. Again, the win was incredible. Who in this feudal era could compete with the power of steel and fire? While his troops cheered, he refilled his gun while Eckhard approached him.

"Congratulations on another great victory, my lord!"

Berengar smiled and accepted the gesture before looking at Eckhard, who was standing under his mighty horse.

"We may have won the battle, but the war is still going on. Bring the marching troops; I want the siege camp built outside the walls of their Castle before dusk!"

With his orders given, the army quickly began marching to the nearby city, where they would begin a long siege process against the rest of the enemy troops hiding behind the castle walls.
