Ludolf's Reformation

Ludolf has worked hard in his academic rejection of church corruption and abuse of power. So much so that his manifesto had grown larger than Martin Luther from Berengar's previous life. After gathering evidence of the Church's sin and its wrongful attempts to dominate secular affairs, Ludolf compiled them together in a well-written thesis that fully debated the Church and its harmful acts. He has spent nearly a month collecting what he needs in an effort to reform the Church for the better. Now that he had finished writing his paper, the pastor brought it to Berengar's attention for review and possible changes.

Berengar smiled as he read the manifesto, which spoke volumes about his ideals, and unlike Luther, he spent much time focusing on the need for Church and State. From an academic point of view, the work is solid; from a theological point of view, it is brilliant. After reading everything, Berengar put down the paper and looked at Ludolf, who was quietly waiting for Berengar to patiently finish it as he sat in the seat of power in Kufstein. After laying down the manifesto very carefully, he approached Ludolf and patted the man on the shoulder.

"My friend, this is a brilliant work; I was really inspired after reading it. It should be distributed throughout the German-speaking region and Europe as a whole. With my press, it can be mass-produced like the Bible we have. It has distributed and spread into the hands of true believers everywhere!"

Ludolf smiled broadly after hearing the great praise he received; he also agreed that the work needed to be spread; therefore, it was, he did not hesitate to approve Berengar's suggestion to mass-produce and distribute it throughout the German-speaking regions of the world.

"Thank you, Berengar; I must say that I would never walk this path without your guidance. It's an honor to be your friend!"

Berengar grabbed the paper and placed it in Ludolf's hands before praising the man further.

"The fun is mine; now will we head to the press and begin the process?"

Ludolf nodded and agreed to Berengar's request once more, and as such, Berengar and Ludolf marched towards the press, which was now located within his own factory run by his propaganda department. The elite guard Berengar flanked the two men as they did so. Despite being in Kufstein's security, Berengar had made many enemies, and he could never be too careful in terms of his safety.

The average citizen saw the men as they marched to the city under construction and to the industrial estate where they entered the press, where the foreman happily greeted them. As usual, the man was a boot licker and showered Berengar and his guests with praise upon arrival.

"My lord, what a pleasure it is to watch your immaculate face enter the factory! Tell me, how can I help you on this glorious day?"

Berengar could not help but sneer at the man's words; he was not the type of man who wanted to be around a sycophant, let alone that man was good at his job, and therefore, he was not the type of man who wanted to be around a sycophant, much less that the man was good at his job, Berengar held her in place.

"I need a special production line dedicated to the mass production of this work. Can it be done?"

"Of course, my Lord, for your good, I can make everything possible. As you know, we have been expanding operations quite successfully lately, and as such, we can easily dedicate full-time production to this work."

With that said, Berengar gestured for Ludolf to hand him over, after which the priest quickly did so. Berengar looked around the area and noticed that security was lacking for this vital installation. Therefore, he looked to the foreman and told him about his decision.

"I will attach security details around this facility all the time; it looks like the Garrison needs more troops."

With the influx of recruits into his army, Berengar established a significant garrison at Kufstein whose full-time job was to defend the territory and act as internal security. Basically they would become gendarmerie until he could form a dedicated police force.

After saying that, Berengar left while trying to ignore the excessive praise from the foreman who could refrain from saying such flattery. After Berengar and Ludolf returned to the Castle, he took out a pair of trophies before filling them with wine and handing one to Ludolf before a toast.

"For the Reformation, may the Church be cleansed of her corruption!"

The two men clinked the glass before sipping it. Ludolf, of course, could not contain his excitement.

"I really hope something comes from my work; I cannot sit idly by and let the Church be corrupted by immoral bishops and cardinals who turn a blind eye to the teachings of Christ in pursuit of their greed."

Berengar only smiled and sipped from his glass; he knew the chances of the Catholic Church being completely reformed were slim; what was most likely to happen from Ludolf's actions was that the Church split and formed a Protestant movement. Although such an event would inevitably cause chaos within the sphere of European influence, Berengar needed that chaos to transition the German world into a scientific and industrious way of thinking.

As the two men celebrated their achievement, only Berengar knew how it would turn out. The future will be filled with endless blood and destruction due to the actions of these two men. However, it would allow Berengar to build one of the strongest Kingdoms in history. An achievement that would later label him as the Father of the German Nation. Among the many nicknames he made known, this was one he was most proud of.
