Steel Empire
The Right Name

Berengar was currently sitting in the dining room; the only two people present for breakfast this morning were Berengar and Linde; as usual, his family was still fractured after Lambert's conviction. Berengar had not seen the face of his father or sister for a long time. Although Sieghard was officially declared a Viscount, and his territory had doubled, he was officially isolated for penance. The good news about this is that Berengar can openly flirt with Linde without getting the attention of his fellow family members. As Berengar was snacking on the breakfast sandwich, he noticed the blue eyes of his dearest sister peeking out from the corner of the entrance.

Clearly, the little girl spied on him and Linde; although Berengar wanted to go and greet her, he was afraid she would fly back to his room once he realized she looked, like a frightened little rabbit. Because of this, he continued to have civil conversations with Linde about managing royal affairs.

"Did your father guarantee safe passage for my trade route in the County of Tyrol?"

Linde gracefully ate an omelet while she nodded her head; she only started talking after she swallowed her bite.

"Of course, my father would do whatever I told him to do; he loved his daughter too much."

Berengar smiled and decided to shift the conversation to something more personal. After a moment of silence, he finally asked awkwardly.

"So... What shall we name the child?"

This line of questions instantly tickled Henrietta's not-so-subtle curiosity of listening to the conversation. On the other hand, Linde wiped her mouth with a napkin before putting a gentle smile on her doll-like face.

"If it's a boy, I'm thinking of naming him after his father..."

Berengar smiled sadistically as he responded to his idea as he drank from his water glass. He couldn't help but tease his lover when they were both alone; even if Henrietta was watching, he wouldn't mind humiliating the poor girl.

"Oh, so you're planning on naming it, Lambert?"

Linde almost vomited her drink upon hearing those words; she struggled to hold back the liquid as she swallowed it. After doing so, his face turned into an angry look as he scolded Berengar for his behavior.

"Don't joke like that! You know I meant to name her by your name!"

This news shocked Henrietta as she listened to Linde admit that her son was Berengar's son; this sparked Henrietta's inner anger because she had blamed Linde for Lambert's exile. Given that she was very young, Henrietta was not told that Lambert had attempted to kill Berengar. Instead, she was told that she voluntarily chose to join the Teutonic Order after changing her heart about her marriage to Linde. He might be young, but Henrietta was not a fool, he suspected that something had happened between Berengar and Linde for some time, and now that it was confirmed, he was furious at the two of them.

However, despite the little loli's inner rage, she continued to listen to the conversation between the embarrassing couple. Berengar, of course, did not like any of his children to be named after him. He did not want Berengar II to destroy the Inheritance he had imagined he would build in this world. He wanted people in the future to know and respect Berengar's name and immediately associate it with himself, as they did with Alexander's name which was owned by the world's greatest conqueror.

Because of this, he finds an alternative, which he cares deeply about as a man who has lived two lives. It was his father's name from his past life; therefore, Berengar looked at Linde with a gentle expression and grabbed his hand as he tried to convince him to name the child with his father from his past life.

Although Linde had no idea who Berengart meant, from the look on his face, it was a bitter memory at best, and because of that, he did not seek information. He did not like the name, and therefore, quickly agreed.

"The name matches! But what if it's a girl?"

Berengar did not even need to think about it; he would have named it after his mother from his previous life if it was female.

"Then we'll name him Helga."

these two names were acceptable to Linde, and as such, she smiled and nodded her head as she accepted her terms.

"Sounds good to me."

After hearing these things, Henrietta finally revealed herself with a sullen expression; she did not like Linde getting all the attention from Berengar and quickly jumped onto her lap while looking at Linde with an angry look. Berengar was surprised by this action because Henrietta had not done such a thing for many years. So she felt a little uncomfortable as she looked at him with a pitiful expression.

"Sister, you haven't visited me in a long time!"

Berengar did not know how to react to this; indeed, he did not visit her as he hid in his room and chose to give the little girl some space. However, he had been very busy over the past few weeks managing the entire region, and as such, had no means to do so. She felt that she had no choice but to caress her head and show her affection, which she did when she punished the girl for her behavior.

"You know Adela's gone, right? She was quite sad because you didn't say goodbye!"

A look of despair surfaced on Henrietta's face as she realized she was too depressed to say goodbye to her friend and began to punch her little fist into Berengar's chest as she made a childish gesture.

"Why didn't you tell me!"

Berengar chuckled slightly before restraining the girl,

"Don't worry, his birthday is coming up, and we'll visit him!"

Henrietta finally calmed down when she heard those words and started smiling for the first time in a long time. Just like that, Berengar spent the rest of his breakfast pampering his younger sister, angering Linde who sat still and ate his meal.
