After Conrad's horrific act, the Castle is fully locked. As Berengar commanded, no one was allowed in or out of the Castle, and the castle garrison was immediately assigned to search for every clue available. While Berengar and his troops were gathering what had happened, Conrad had escaped to his room where he was currently hiding behind his door, panting heavily.
The adrenaline and excitement that filled his veins after committing such a heinous act and getting away with it filled his mind with excitement. Adrenaline and endorphins are pumped through his blood in ways he has never felt before.
He can get used to this. Or so he thought. However, when he appeared in front of the mirror, he saw his clothes and hands covered in blood, and he was still holding a murder weapon. He immediately began to panic and took off his clothes before wrapping them around the murder weapon and throwing them out the window.
Conrad wasn't the most refined of villains; he didn't just leave a huge trail pointing towards him, either, but he threw more important evidence such as his murder weapon and blood-soaked royals out the window, directly into the bushes below. With the way he handled this act of cruelty, it was only a matter of time before Berengar learned he was doing the deed.
Of course, he had no way of knowing this, and therefore he grinned in the mirror; he could not wait to kill something else that Linde loved, she said, but the only things she loves besides the cats are Berengar, Henrietta, and Hans. It would not be easy to injure one of the three people.
Berengar had for some time suspected Conrad might do something to his son, and thus he always locked his nursery; only he, Henrietta, and Linde were allowed into the room. Since becoming a father, he has become paranoid and doesn't even trust his staff to take care of his baby boy.
As for Henrietta, there was no way Conrad could hurt her; the little girl was so nervous and would never get close enough to Conrad to hurt her; even then, guards followed her around the clock to ensure her safety. If Conrad even tried to harm the girl, a wall of bayonets would be placed in front of him, and he would be killed on the spot.
So, for now, she has to wait until Linde finds something she loves, then Conrad will torture her by taking it! He could already feel the excitement of doing such a thing. It was a pity that she could not see Linde's disturbed face, but her shout was enough for her to enjoy; it reoccurred in her mind, thinking of such things bringing an evil grin to her face.
As for Berengar, when his troops led the investigation, he personally buried three cats that were Linde's favorite pets and took her lover to the bathroom, where she rubbed them clean. She was extremely desperate with the savage look that someone made from her pet, and she could not stop crying.
Berengar was in the midst of comforting her in this crisis as he hugged her tightly and stroked her delicate strober blonde hair.
"I swear I'll find whoever did this and end their miserable existence!"
Berengar was not the best at entertaining others; the best he could do was to be there for Linde and promise to avenge the cats. Although Linde sobbed, she managed to make a sentence.
"Why...why would someone do this? What did I do to deserve this?"
Berengar instantly grabbed the girl and wrapped her in his arms as he tried to comfort her once more.
"It's not your fault; if anything, it's mine. I have made too many enemies, somehow they must have attacked someone in the Castle, and this is their way of warning me! When I find out who planned this, I will raise their Castle to the ground and slaughter their families before their eyes!"
Berengar was completely enraged; this action had suppressed three of his reverse scales. First, it challenges its authority and control over its own home. He would not easily sleep at night knowing that his enemy could easily accomplish something like this.
Secondly, this was a threat to him, and his loved ones and Berengar did not tolerate the threat. Doing something like this meant that one was confident enough in their abilities that they believed Berengar could not hurt them even if he knew their identity, and to such a degree of arrogance, he cannot obey it.
Thirdly, and most importantly, the bastard responsible for this barbaric act had crossed the line in the worst possible way, he had made one of his women cry, and for that, it was, the punishment is death. Berengar did not care who was responsible for making Linde scream; they would face the full force of his wrath!
After a while, the couple finally came out of the bathroom, where Berengar sent Linde to their room; he also had Henrietta sleep next to him. The room was guarded constantly by his most elite and loyal units. The ones who had served beside him in many battles, and would risk their lives to protect him and his family, the ones who would never betray him.
After finishing this affair, Berengar sat in his seat of power, where he consumed a large amount of alcohol, he would sit here until the culprit was revealed, and then he would take revenge. The entire night passed before all the evidence was gathered, the head chef, the waiter in the hallway, as well as the blood trail, and the blood-stained clothes wrapped around the murder weapon.
All of these things had been gathered before Berengar as he drank from his skull cup with an icy-cold expression on his face. The captain of his bodyguard approached Berengar after bringing the evidence before him and began to make his accusations.
"Your Majesty, all signs point to Conrad as the culprit; there are traces of blood pointing to his room. We found her tunic covered in blood and wrapped around the weapon used to kill in the bushes under her window. We even have eyewitnesses who report that they saw him enter the courtyard shortly before the crime. The head chef and his entire staff can also testify that Conrad had ordered him to hand over the knife the previous day without explaining the reason."
At this point, Berengar was overwhelmed with anger; however, his rationality told him that he could not kill the rightful Duke for killing some pets in the house. Nevertheless, something needed to be done, and therefore, Berengar asked a question in his mind.
"Where is the boy now?"
The guard captain quickly offered his knowledge in response to his master's request.
"He is currently inside his room; we have guards stationed outside the door to make sure he does not escape. What do you want us to do with the young Duke, Your Majesty?"
Berengar thought about it for a while before making a shocking statement.
"none... I'll talk to the boy myself. As for all of you, swear by death that you will not reveal the contents of this conversation."
Upon seeing the murderous gaze in Berengar's eyes, everyone in the room who had witnessed the conversation vowed not to talk about the matter.
"I swear by the painful death that I will never reveal the content of the conversation that took place here."
After that, Berengar signaled for people to be disbanded. He then sighed heavily before getting up from his chair and walking towards Conrad's residence. When he finally arrived, the guards saluted, and Berengar gave the order.
"Open!"
"Stay outside, and make sure no one gets in."
One of the guards immediately protested the decision
"Your Majesty, I don't think this is a good idea ..."
Yet all he got in return for his warning was a hateful gaze that burned the fury of a thousand suns; upon seeing that, he quickly closed his trap and did as he was told. After that, Berengar walked into the room and closed the door behind him, locking it in place.
As he entered, Berengar saw Conrad looking at him with a nervous expression. He didn't realize how he got caught so quickly. Heard as cold as ice and slowly approached the window where he opened it, letting the cold breeze of summer dawn blow at him.
After a moment of silence, he leaned against the wall next to the window and crossed his arms before breaking the silence.
"Conrad, let me know if you want because I'm very confused ... Are you so arrogant that you believe even after finding out who is responsible for the heinous crimes that I will not punish you? Or are you really the most incredible fool? crime in the history of mankind? Do you really believe that I'm not going to find out that you did it?"
Conrad immediately pretended to be stupid and looked away from Berengar as he did so.
"I don't know what you're talking about ..."
With this, Berengar sighed before raising his tone to an oppressive Tyrant.
"There is a trail of blood that leads straight to your room, your tunic covered in the blood of the victim found wrapped around the murder weapon in the bushes under your window, and there are eyewitnesses who can put you around the scene of the crime.
On top of that, my entire kitchen staff can testify that you showed up and took the murder weapon out of their hands. So stop that action, and answer my question. Why would you do such a thing? Are you dissatisfied with the way I manage the world so you have to threaten me by killing my beloved pet?"
Realizing that he had been caught wet, Conrad started laughing until he finally asked Berengar a question that he did not expect.
"Do you have such a noble self-image that you believe I am doing this to threaten you? This has nothing to do with you, Berengar!"
Berengar was astonished when he heard this; he could not think of any other reason why the boy behaved so vilely, and therefore, Berengar asked about the boy's reason.
"Why then?"
Conrad immediately gritted his teeth and gnashed at him furiously before shouting out all his might.
"To give*******that's a lesson!"
Hearing that Conrad's target was not himself but his lover, Berengar's mind was immediately filled with anger. He could no longer hold back his anger as it quickly exhausted all rational thinking. If there was one thing that could destroy his logic and common sense, it was someone who was after his loved ones.
He was a fair game, but the people he cared about were completely off limits. Despite his devouring anger, he looked at Conrad with a cold and indifferent expression, making people believe that he was completely calm. In doing so, here turned his attention to the light of dawn that was slowly beginning to reveal itself, and therefore, he gestured Conrad to his side.
"Conrad, come. I want to show you something..."
Conrad was puzzled as to why Berengar was so calm, but in his naivety, he did not feel the slightest hint of danger, because Berengar would never kill him so suddenly. After all, if he were to suffer an unexplained sudden death, it would cause the other Austrian rulers to rise up against him. Therefore, he comforted Berengar and walked beside him, standing in front of the open window, staring at the beautiful sunrise.
After arriving next to Berengar, the young Prince of Tyrol started talking to Conrad in a cold tone.
"Conrad... Tell me something. Do you know what the punishment is for hurting someone I love?"
Conrad immediately shifted his gaze from sunrise to Berengar's calm and stoic look before putting on a terrible grin; he was very sure Berengar would not kill him and therefore arrogantly challenged Berengar.
"No, what?"
At that moment, a murderous aura erupted from Berengar and was seen through his eyes; the moment it happened, Berengar revealed the punishment for Conrad's crimes.
"Death!"
before Conrad could even react to this statement, Berengar had pushed him against the windowpanes, and the boy fell headfirst into the stone courtyard below. As his head came into contact with the hard surface, he died on the spot. Conrad died, and with his death, the mighty Habsburg Dynasty came to an end.
As for Berengar, he stared coldly at the scene for a while before leaving Conrad's room with an apathetic expression on his face and a deadly glint in his eyes.
