Fighting Two cats 2

While the Bavarians were stopped at the Tyrolean border, the same could not be said for the rest of the Duchy of Austria, at the time when the forces of the Duke of Bavaria were besieging Salzburg, the Counts of the region were lost in action, no one knows if he lived to die after the battle at Passau, and his eldest son currently lives in Graz with his wife and three children. The Salzburg County Defense was left to the Count's second son, who was slightly smarter than Wolfgang but not at all a genius, let alone a military strategist. Thus, the region was in trouble when facing the Bavarian forces.

Wolfgang's younger brother, Adelbrand, chose to give orders to his troops to stay inside their castle, and the fortresses challenged the Bavarians to fight them where they had the advantage. On paper, this may seem like a good idea; however, in fact, it leaves towns and villages that provide food for Castles, Cities, and Fortresses completely helpless, this resulted in the robbery, rape, and arson of the Salzburg general population by invasive Bavarians. Of course, Wolfgang had no idea what was happening in his family's territory, nor did he care. After Otto arrived with his troops and secured Steiermark, the frightened man chose to stay with his in-laws, leaving the land that should have been under his protection burned in the flames of war.

This, of course, infuriated Ava because she was back at odds with her younger sister. Since their last quarrel, Adela has increasingly won the small battles she has fought with Ava to the point that Ava would rather stay at the Castle in Salzburg than continue to be humiliated in this way. However, once again, Ava decided to provoke an argument with Adela now that she had nowhere else to go back. Right now, the two women standing in the Great Hall were scrambling, to be honest, nothing mattered.

"I'm just saying, where is Berengar when we need him most? He should have an army capable of annihilating 30,000 people of the Teutonic Order, yet he hid in his mountainous region like a coward! a man like you claim, he should lead the charge against the Bavarians, but Salzburg bleeds as he sits down and does nothing!"

Adela frowned after hearing her eldest brother slander Berengar once again and quickly replied to his words.

"Heard was the Count of Tyrol, and therefore he is currently protecting his land from the invasion of the Bavarians; according to our father, he is currently protecting his land, he had completely stopped the enemy advance to Tyrol and was currently defending his field troops in case the Bavarians broke through his fortress! He did far more for his family's land and the people in it than your cowardly husband!"

Now that Adela knows her sister's weakness, she makes every comment her bet on the heart, which severely hurts Ava's self-esteem, and in fact, she's right. Rather than dealing with his own enemies, Wolfgang hid in Graz under the protection of Otto's army while his lands were burned and his people massacred by the Bavarians. Of course, even if he appeared to fight the enemy, there was not much a fool like Wolfgang could do about this situation. Even so, Ava was very dissatisfied with her husband's behavior, and of course Adela took advantage of it.

Ava scowled at Adela's comments, but she quickly gave an answer; after all, like Adela, she was privy to Otto's intelligence about the situation in Austria. However, Berengar had taken paranoid limits to rid spies and scouts of other powers from his territory; with his vast intelligent network, part of it was dedicated only to counterintelligence, and thus, to counterintelligence, getting information about the events in Tyrol is quite difficult. Most of them had to go with the intercepted messages they had taken from the Bavarians.

"According to the father's report, Berengar was sitting in Kufstein enjoying himself with his lover and illegitimate son while his army was defending its borders, how exactly did the Great Man as you stated?"

Ava is right, Berengar is currently not at the forefront as he used to be in the past, but the reason is simple. His army was a well-oiled machine, and garrisons were explicitly trained to defend their star fortress in the most effective way possible; their commanding officer was a formidable war veteran of the Berengar campaign in Tyrol and knew very well how to besiege a fortress and how to defend it.

If Berengar would enjoy the luxury while his soldiers were defending the border, then he would definitely make sure his troops maintained a level of luxury as well. So cakes, biscuits, tea, and other luxury goods were sent to his troops at the border to be enjoyed when they were not at war. No army in the world apart from Berengar could enjoy the siege in such a manner. Of course, because of the constant letters, Berengar had written to Adela, he was actually informed of such things, and therefore, of that, he was well prepared for such an attack by Ava.

“Hmmph, you really lack in intelligence. Berengar may have been in Kufstein, but his army was well supplied and even had luxuries such as a well-built tenement house for living quarters, cakes, biscuits, tea, tea, as well as meat and eggs for food. The only reason Berengar himself was not present at the forefront of defense was because it would be useless. His troops were fully able to defend his borders without him, and he made sure they enjoyed the same level of luxury as him when they did so!"

Defeated completely in the current war of words, Ava once again showed an ugly expression; she could neither confirm nor deny whether Adela was telling the truth or not, and therefore, did not, he's quite bothered by this. How exactly does Adela know more about the situation in Tyrol than she does? Honestly Ava did not believe that Berengar cared so much for Adela that she would constantly write him letters to tell him about her progress and daily life. I mean, after all the men took lovers to enjoy her time together while Adela was stuck in Graz, how much could she care about that girl? Nevertheless, Ava recovered from her bad demeanor and once again began to swing the mud towards Berengar.

"If he has an easy time defending his borders, then why doesn't he send his field troops to Salzburg to liberate the region and end the suffering of the people?"

Ava had a satisfied smile on her face when she asked this question, believing that she had caught Adela in the corner. Nevertheless, she did not expect Adela to respond in the way she did. The young teenage girl smiled with a look of pity on her face for Ava. Obviously, the woman had nothing but breasts for brains; the answer to this question was very clear Adela was embarrassed to show it to her older sister. Nevertheless, Adela expertly executed her reply by looking at Ava as if she was a fool before stating the reason.

"Because Salzburg is not Berengar's responsibility; it's your husband's..."

The moment Ava heard those words, she felt as if her mind had exploded. Although a moment ago believed that she had cornered her little sister in the small quarrel they had put up, Adela very expertly avoided her vicious attacks and dealt her own deadly verbal punch. Realizing that she has been defeated, Ava has trouble controlling her emotions; with every fiber of her being, she wants to claw at Adela's cute doll-like face. However, she resisted the temptation to do so and instead snorted before walking away from her younger sister. Ava completely refused to engage in this little debate any further.

Adela, on the other hand, was completely satisfied with the outcome of this completely meaningless debate, she once again defeated her eldest sister in a war of words, and although this may seem futile to logical and rational individuals like men, young women like her, it is a great moral triumph.
