After a disaster at Wallachia's main port in the city known as Braila, Honoria shuts herself in her room. After being improperly touched by one of the local Boyars who threatened to take his life for fighting back, the young and innocent girl had a lot to think about. Therefore, he was trapped in his room without the company of anyone but Heraclius, who had hitherto ignored him as punishment for his actions.
The galleys move at a speed of roughly 3 knots during cruising speed, in other words, about 3.5 miles per hour. Thus, it was a long and slow journey to Austria. The distance between Bronila and Kufstein is about 1,008 miles. Assuming the crew paddles for 12 hours a day, they will take about 24 days to arrive in Kufstein.
Honoria had been trapped in the cabin for a total of seven days at this point, and the crew had just begun to leave the Wallachian border and enter Hungary. He was very upset by the boredom he had to suffer in the room. However, he never complained; after all, Agnellus was kind enough to help him, despite knowing his position, which he was grateful for.
Heraclius is usually ejected from the cabin so that he can fly and catch prey. Therefore, he was in a perfect mood. After all, he was flying at a speed of about 50 miles per hour; no matter how long he caught prey, he could easily chase the ship.
While Heraclius enjoyed himself, Honoria honestly did nothing but think about her life and daydream about how it would be when she arrived in Kufstein. After meeting Boyar, he realizes that there are people in this world who are not kind.
As the princess thought about this, she realized that there was a possibility that Berengar was also a bad man. However, he immediately put aside such thoughts because Arethas had convinced him that Berengar was kind and kind to his loved ones, and that gave him hope for the future. Still, there is a troubling suspicion that he will only trade one cage for another once he arrives in Kufstein.
Despite the dire situation, he found himself in a few moments in Braila, the short period he spent running as free as an eagle was enough to astonish him. He did not want to be another caged bird; now that he had spread his wings and learned to fly, he wanted to know more about life. Boyar's actions had prompted something within Honoria, the belief that he should be independent, after all, if not for Heraclius' intervention he could have been in danger in Bronila.
To do such a thing in this world is not easy. Especially for a woman, so the hope when finally arrived in Kufstein. Berengar would give him the safety and security necessary to allow him to grow as a person. He did not want to spend his life in Kufstein as he did during his time in Constantinople, which was confined to the Royal Palace for nothing more than a pretty face.
Thinking of this, Honoria concludes that she can make the most of her time on this ship in a more constructive way. After all, there was a lot he could learn from these sailors. So the princess escapes out of the cabin after putting on her scarf and walks around the ship for a while before heading towards the rudder where Agnellus is currently.
Agnellus was currently piloting the ship and noticed that the princess had arrived. So he put on a friendly smile as he started chatting with her.
"Your Majesty, I'm beginning to wonder when you will finally leave your seclusion. I hope nothing too serious happened there in Braila."
Honoria stared at the night sky above for a few moments in silence before voicing worry in her mind.
"I've been thinking for a long time, and I've decided I don't want to be a bird in a cage anymore. I want to be an eagle in the sky. So there's something I want to know that you might be able to help me?"
Hearing this bold statement, Agnillus was not sure where it was headed; however, since the princess had asked for her help, she could not resist it well. So he reluctantly asked her what she needed to help.
"Whatever you ask of me, if I can fulfill it, I swear to do it."
With this, a beautiful smile formed on Honoria's beautiful pink lips before she nodded her head in delight. After doing so, his expression turned into a pleading gaze as he made his request known.
"Teach me sail!"
This was not the request Agnellus had expected, and therefore it took him a while to record it in his brain. When he finally realized what the princess was asking him, he burst into laughter. This reaction was not what Honoria expected, and thus she started to frown.
Seeing the cute expression on Honoria's face, Agnellus finally stopped laughing and agreed to her terms.
"If it's something very simple, I'll be happy to teach you how to sail. But we have less than 20 days to go over everything, so the most I can give you is a crash course."
To Honoria, this was pretty good, and thus a charming smile formed on her lips as she thanked the jeweler.
"Thank you!"
With that said, Agnellus spent the rest of the night on the Danube teaching the daughter of the Byzantine Empire how to sail on a ship. The galley was not like a sailing ship; it was more like a large rowing boat, so there was not much he could teach her about sailing on such a ship.
When he finally opened his eyes, he noticed that Heraculies was sitting next to him, watching him as he slept. Therefore, the princess rubbed her eyes before stroking the sparkling eagle feather.
"Good morning Heraclius!"
the mighty eagle crowed in response to the treatment he received. Shortly after playing with the bird, Honoria heard a knock on the door, and a familiar voice followed.
"Your Majesty, are you inside? You've been asleep for some time. I've got something for you to eat."
When Honoria heard this, she quickly rushed to the door and opened it to see the smiling face of Agnellus. In his hand was a bowl of meat porridge. There was also a wine bag beside him. Honoria happily picked up the food and thanked the man for his kindness.
"Thank you, Agnellus; I will make sure not to waste a single drop!"
Somehow seeing the princess happy made Agnellus happy. He has no way of knowing it, but he begins to bond with the beautiful young princess of the Empire. As for Honoria, she had no feelings left for the man; to her, she was a best friend. After giving Honoria her food, Agnellus thought of something and expressed her thoughts.
"We will soon be anchored in Gyor; why don't I show you how we docked?"
Hearing this, a wide smile appeared on Honoria's face as she questioned reality.
"Thank you?"
Agnellus simply smiled and nodded in silence. Hearing this news, Honoria had an excited expression on her face. He was eager to learn more about the function of the ship and thus he decided to devour its food as quickly as possible so that he could learn the docking procedure.
"I have to eat this while it's still warm... I'm out for a minute, don't dock without me!"
After that, Honoria closed the door behind her, and Agnellus began to laugh at the overzealous nature of the girl. To him, it was just a simple docking; there was not much to be proud of. However, to Honoria, her most mundane actions seemed to have significant meaning, and thus she rejoiced in everything she learned how to do. It's refreshing to have that level of optimism.
Honoria ate beef porridge and drank from grape skins. To his dismay, it was not filled with wine but with water instead. Therefore, he started to frown as he hurriedly ate his food. Heraclius who realized that there was food nearby immediately jumped to the side of Honoria and stole the ripe cut of beef that was in her fork before she swallowed it herself.
Honoria's shocking actions, she looks very angry with the actions of birds who immediately began to scold the eagle pet.
"Heraclius shoo! My food! Take it yourself!"
For this, Heraclius responded by taking a piece of his flesh from Honoria's bowl and quickly devouring it with a satisfied expression on his face. Highlight his eyes asked Honoria a simple question.
"Who will stop me?"
Thus a challenge had been laid, and a contest was held between a princess and an eagle to see who could eat the meat in the bowl filled with porridge most quickly. If anyone else were to witness the sight, they would be either greatly amused or extremely confused. One thing is for sure this bird is brilliant.
