Steel Empire

Steel Empire
New Plot

Several days had passed without any major incident. Berengar found himself very bored as his work schedule seemed to be at a standstill. Because of the trustworthy and competent people he placed in implementing his innovation, he had recently gained a tremendous amount of free time. If Adela was still within the boundaries of her family's territory, then she would currently enjoy being with him. Unfortunately, he won't be returning to Kufstein for several weeks. Because of this, Berengar recently found himself practicing sword arts with his personal retainer Eckhard. The two men were currently arguing with a pair of armed wooden swords. Where Eckhard actually defeated the young master who had never taken a sword until a few days ago.

Sword science is an art that takes years to master, and unlike flintlock rifles that require a lot of physical strength, stamina, and finesse to become adequate. Although his age was about to end, Berengar still felt the need to learn how to use the sword properly. After all, as an officer leading the army he created, it was only appropriate for him to use a sword and a gun. Although the more he practiced the sword, the more he realized that he would probably break the traditions of his old world and only use a rifle.

At this moment Berengar found himself fending off the approaching wooden sword currently held by Eckhard before unleashing his own counterattack. However, just as he was about to land his attack, Eckhard dodged just in time and continued with his own thrust that pointed his sword straight at Berengar's neck. Seeing that everything was gone, Berengar gave up completely to his instructor

"I give up."

With that said The middle-aged man drew his sword with a smile on his face and put it back together with the others.

"You learn fast, and you also have the potential to become a competent swordsman. Too bad the era's gonna be over soon."

Berengar placed his sword beside Eckhard's sword as he sighed heavily in response to Knight's words.

"What's really embarrassing is that I wasn't able to train with a sword until now."

The middle-aged knight nodded in agreement with Berengar's statement; he was aware of the difficulties Berengar had faced over the years, especially about his health. It was a miracle that he overcame such a disease and became the man he is today. This transformation of body and mind is just another part of Berengar's character, which inspires Eckhard to do his best every day.

After laying down the swords and releasing the training equipment they were currently wearing, the two men walked together back to the field, which was used as a training ground for the militia. The men belonging to the militia ranks had come a long way in a short period of time, but their training was still incomplete. In total it took nearly 90 days for the militia to be competent enough to act as a proper force; after all these men learned how to use firearms for the first time in their lives.

Currently, the unit is split into four infantry companies with 80 people each. There was also an Artillery battery that trained alongside the infantry, although it was not a full-size battery. At this point, the battery had three 12-pound cannons and about 40 personnel. That's roughly 1/3 the size of a proper artillery battery. Nevertheless, the number of militiamen was growing daily, and a fourth weapon was on its way. What he wanted at least was a small infantry battalion of 400 soldiers and a full-sized artillery battery. So at least, 520 men in the militia and 8 cannons. This was something that was actually quite decent with his current progress. After all, these were not professional soldiers who had to give up their daily work.

The quota Berengar had set himself for the boneless battalion would soon be met, the most difficult part being the manufacture of cannons; it would take time. Still, it wasn't as if a war was about to break out overnight. Although the King was in poor health, he was not in a critical condition at the moment. Despite the fact that he could potentially make a hoarse voice at any moment, the chances of the old man dying before Berengar reached his militia goal were minuscule.

After overseeing militia training with Eckhard for the afternoon, Berengar returns to the Castle where unbeknownst to him, he finds himself stalked in the shadows. As he passed through the winding corridors of the castle, his pursuers finally revealed themselves from the darkness. None other than Linde who had a worried expression on her face as she hugged Berengar from behind.

Not expecting such a thing to happen, Berengar instinctively struggled out of grasp before realizing who had attacked him. After which, he became calm and received his close embrace. Linde whispered in her ear so low that only they could hear her words.

"Your brother will soon try again in his life."

Soon Berengar's expression sank; it was a good thing he had trained this girl properly; here he walked recklessly wishing himself safe from Lambert's plans, but the boy had planned his death. He was immediately interested in the information he gave her.

"How does he plan to do it?"

Linde reveals Lambert's secret without the slightest hesitation; she has long since turned her back on her son and father.

"He was tired of my attempts to stop him and impatiently contacted my father for help. Apparently, your father was planning a hunting trip; lambert and my father had arranged for the assassins to wait for you in the mountains.appearing as robbers, but they would secretly become soldiers under my father's command."

"You don't have to worry too much; I'm stronger than I look."

Linde's cheeks immediately turned red after Berengar boldly kissed her in the middle of the hallway. Sure there is no one around, but what if someone nearby happens to meet them during their little affair. It was a reckless move on his part, but he couldn't help but feel excited. The sensation of potentially being discovered was something that made his heart flutter. However, he realized now was not the time to engage in his desires with his master. Instead, he bowed respectfully to Berengar, who had noticed the complicated expression on the girl's face.

His brain instantly connected the dots as he realized the girl might develop a new f*tish. An evil smile appeared on the young master's face as he pushed the beautiful young lady against the wall and began to eat her d*ging. Luckily for him, no one came near him when the couple engaged in scandalous behavior openly in the middle of the Castle corridor. By the time they were done, the sun had already begun to set, and they realized their absence would soon be known; therefore, they separated until they were able to meet again at dinner.

This time the atmosphere at the dining table was quite tense, as Lambert looked at Berengar like a hungry wolf, and Berengar sneered inwardly at the boy like an owl seeing everything. Lambert had no way of knowing that his plans had been disclosed to his most hated brother, who was already devising a plan to deal with the plan against him. Only after their father spoke up did the silence break.

"Listen, my son, now that you're healthy and fit, I think it's time your father took you hunting; what do you think?"

Berengar had an innocent smile on his face, like a child in a candy store as he expressed his interest in joining his father as they explored the mountains that restricted their family territory and hunted game beasts.

"Of course, Dad, that sounds good! Now that I've eaten meat, I can't wait to feel what it's like to eat meat from my own murder."

Apart from its plain facade, Berengar inwardly sneered at his brother Lambert who had bought the display and wished his plan to function perfectly. On the other hand, Sieghard had no way of knowing the battle of intrigue that was going on right now between his two sons; instead, he was pleased to know that Berengar was very welcoming of the idea. After all, until recently, Berengar was a vegetarian who had a weakness for animals. Seeing the boy so eagerly hunting actually brought excitement in the Baron's heart. He may be getting older, and his son may be an adult by now, but the two still have the potential to grow closer.

Lambert was delighted; his brother fell right into the trap he had set up. After all, he could no longer sit idly by and let Linde constantly fail to seduce his brother. Berengar is either impotent, gay, or lolicon. That was the conclusion Lambert had drawn; if he had known that his beautiful fiancee whom he was so proud of had been publicly vandalized in the hallway by his brother just an hour earlier, it would have been, the boy would probably attempt to snatch Berengar's life on the spot.

The young master couldn't possibly know that Berengar had planned to bring a rifle to a sword fight. That's right, the shotgun; in his spare time over the past few days, he had drawn designs for the dull bench and presented them to Ludwig. This discovery will be a tool for the effectiveness of his army.

Currently, Ludwig was in the process of making a long rifle-style rifle that was used effectively by American militias during the revolutionary war in Berengar's previous life. For now, the Berengar militia would be equipped with a fine drill; after all, he really could not reveal the effectiveness of the rifle without raising suspicions about such a design. However, if he was alone and separated from his father in the mountains, he could easily kill the assassins from a distance of 200-300 yards with a long shotgun. He might be useless in a sword, but in his past life as Julian, he had earned the marksman expert badge during his tenure in the army.

By the time the hunting trip begins, Berengar will be well equipped to deal with the assassins, provided he sees them first. If they approached him for any reason, he had specifically designed this rifle to be able to use a bayonet, something with which he also had a lot of training experience. For now, he just had to act as if he had no idea what Lambert was doing. was plotting behind his back and following his tactics. The two brothers chatted with their father about the finer details of hunting and all Berengar had to know.

Only after dinner did Berengar return to his room to finish some work. Right now, he was crafting a design or tracking a ledger, an administrative operation he used to do at night since his father gave him jurisdiction over the fledgling industry sector. When he did not sign documents relating to the industry, he oversaw reports of military spending and training. Everything is currently within his budget, and the squad seems to be developing well. So there were no immediate concerns he had to deal with there.

It was only at midnight that she heard a knock on the door that she had been used to doing for the past few weeks; this girl was greedy; even after having fun in the middle of the day, she was so used to doing it, he still comes more at night. Well, he should have taken a break from the report and removed a little stress. Because of this, she spent part of the night training her toys before the couple fell asleep in each other's arms. It was not until dawn broke that they woke up from their slumber.
