Right now, Berengar was within the realm of his father's studies who completed the blueprint for the City he envisioned as his Capital, Kufstein City. He had been working hard on this project for over a month at this moment, considering it was something he worked on especially in his spare time, he had not finished it; until now, it was.
As Kufstein City became increasingly urbanized due to Berengar's agricultural reforms, Berengar found its people suffering from serious problems. Despite the fact that they were very well paid and were no longer bound by the land owned by the feudal lords. Kufstein's ordinary people are forced to endure terrible slums and squalor. Given that Bernegar was the type of person who hated forcing people into such poverty, he had to come up with a new plan to solve this problem.
Luckily for him, he held almost absolute power in the region and had a substantial treasury built from the lucrative steel and textile trade. Considering he had just finished making plans for Kufstein City, Berengar decided to make it happen and pioneered the construction of a large city that deserves to be called the capital of Kufstein.
As he called it, this grand Infrastructure Initiative was designed to reconstruct the region into a thriving metropolis. The first important component of this initiative is sanitation, where it plans to have sewers and waterways throughout the city where the sewage will go through sewage treatment facilities and eventually flow into local rivers. There will also be reservoirs that can provide clean and fresh water to the homes of every citizen.
The second important component of the initiative is building affordable housing in large apartment complexes; these apartment complexes will be built in the traditional half-timber style. If he were to build a city, it would be an aesthetically pleasing city. Of course, each apartment will be equipped with its own ceramic tub and toilet connected to the city's plumbing system.
The third component of this infrastructure initiative is focused on defense. With a civil war looming on the horizon, Berengar needs a way to properly defend his population. He was more than happy to introduce a complex set of city walls based on a star fortification platform from the renaissance and early modern periods of his previous life. However, unlike the walls made throughout Berengar's past life history, the walls would be made of steel-reinforced concrete, which was, which is a much more formidable method of construction than the traditional stone walls that usually exist.
The Star Fort is basically what it sounds like. It was a fortress designed in the wake of the times to combat the effectiveness and similarity of cannons, which would prove to be a deadly blow to the old medieval castle design. Basically the city will be built of polygons that are split in the middle by the Inn river. On the edge of the wall there will be a series of pointed ramparts called bastions that eliminate blind spots and allow defenders to fire on besiegers from all angles. On top of this bastion will be cavaliers, elevated structures built entirely within the bastion that act as secondary lines of defense, allowing more cannons and musketeers to defend the same section of the wall.
Under the fort there will be a series of water-filled trenches, which is similar to the design of the moat, which makes the city almost impossible to be completely surrounded. His design was based on the years of fort knowledge Berengar had acquired from his time studying at Westpoint to becoming an army engineering officer. In this era, no army had managed to besiege the well-fortified city.
Fourth and final, he needed to build a comprehensive set of roads between all the major inhabited areas in his territory and be selected for the Roman road construction method. It will certainly be an expensive endeavor. However, he was able to afford such luxury, and because of that, Berengar immediately began the process of building his big city.
Right now, Berengar was walking through the city where he was currently leading his way to Ludwig's workshop, which was now his office space within the industrial estate. He noticed the dirtiness and squalor his people lived in and inevitably wanted to speed up time, so they no longer had to endure this condition. Luckily for him, his plan was complete, and he would soon start the project. People only had to endure this condition for a while longer.
Berengar boldly walked through the door to Ludwig's office and began talking to the parents at the steel factory about the production of galvanized steel pipes to build his plumbing system. If the steel is completely submerged in molten zinc, it could create a relatively rust-resistant coating that is important for the construction of its compression system.
Ludwig stared at the details of Berengar's plan and felt a headache growing on the back of his skull. The old man let out a heavy sigh as he looked at Berengar as if he was a madman.
"Is it possible? Of course, however, it would be very expensive to do this."
Berengar hugged Ludwig on his shoulder and smiled before reassuring his old friend.
“Do not worry, I can cover the cost; this is not a venture that will be completed in a matter of months but will be an ongoing effort over the next few years. As long as it's possible, then I don't care. about the cost."
Ludwig could not help but admire the effort and expense Berengar was willing to spend to ensure better housing and sanitation conditions for his people. There has never been a more benevolent God, or so the old man thought. Ludwig could only imagine how hard Bernegar was working on a budget to ensure his vision of a big city would come true.
Ludwig sighed and accepted Berengar's enthusiasm for the project.
"Alright, I'll finish it; after all, we currently have excess steel stored in many warehouses waiting for such a big project. Too bad if it's all in vain."
Berengar smiled as he thanked Ludwig for his help
"Good, excuse me, I have a lot of different people to call to begin construction on my project."
With that, Berengar left Ludwig and contacted the remaining subordinates on his list to begin building a large infrastructure initiative, which would later become the basis of how all German Cities would be designed.
