When Love Should Determine

When Love Should Determine
Chapter 102

Izzah came with her husband to the Larissa residence to carry out the tradition of the weweh manten. But in the middle of their chat he suddenly asked, "What is the secret of mbak in undergoing marriage so that it can last with kak Hamzah until now?,".

Asked like that by her sister-in-law, of course Larissa was confused. He did not feel he had any secrets in the marriage, everything just flowed. Her marriage to Hamzah lasted seven years. Yet referred to as a lasting marriage, it is very far from that word.

"What secret? Ma'am has no secrets" he replied.

"Come on, ma'am, don't lie! Ma'am must have the secret behind the lasting marriage mbak."

"Bak doesn't lie, Izzah, there's no secret."

"Don't be stingy, ma'am, for his knowledge to me. There is no way a marriage could have survived until now if there were no special secrets. Who knows I can follow the secret of my marriage so that my marriage can last as well."

Izzah continued to urge Larissa to tell the secret behind the lasting of her marriage, while Larissa herself never felt she had a special trick, all just flowed.

Larissa took a breath. "Mbak doesn't have any secrets, Izzah. It's just that I've been taught that the basis of a relationship is honesty and trust, and that's what I've been trying to do all this time."

Larissa felt like she was deceiving herself with her words. She did try to do that, but she also lied to her husband a lot, including betraying their marriage by falling in love with another man.

"So that, ma'am. Try it later I do the same thing that.mbak Rissa did, so that my marriage can last too," said Izzah.

"Mother." Larissa smiled wryly. But in his heart he also wanted his marriage to really last.

They continue the conversation. Sometimes there was laughter echoing. Not to forget Hamzah shared his experience during the marriage. Larissa chose to be quieter than to talk. He felt ashamed of himself.

...****************...

The relationship between Larissa and Hamzah is getting more romantic. Where there is Larissa, where Hamzah is, and vice versa. Many people say they are a good couple.

It all feels so perfect. He has a loving husband and love for her. He also has a sweet and funny heart. Until then the storm came back to hit the ark of his household.

That night after reaching the peak of enjoyment together on their love bed, Hamzah invites Larissa to talk seriously.

Initially Larissa thought that it was just a casual conversation and instead asked her to joke, especially they had just combined love. But seeing the tense look on Hamzah's face, Larissa also understood that her husband was really serious at the moment.

"Are you really not kidding, Entik?" asked Larissa.

"Did you see my face joking around right now?" Hamzah asked. His tone began to rise, making Larissa afraid.

"What's the matter, Encus? why are you scaring me like this?" asked Larissa timidly.

Hamzah breathed a heavy sigh, as if his shoulders bore a very heavy burden. "Yesterday my mother said that you insulted her. Is that true, Encus?."

"Yes!, " replied Hamzah briefly. His face turned cold instantly.

Larissa was confused by her husband's answer. He never remembered that he had insulted his mother-in-law. "That's not true, Entik! I never insulted your mother one bit."

"If that's not true, then why did my mother say that?" he cried out in anger.

"I don't know either, Entik. Maybe your mom just misunderstood." Larissa tries to stay calm in the face of her emotional husband.

"So you think my mother is lying?" one eye squinted with a cynical smile on its lips.

"I didn't say that, Entik. Please understand!." Larissa was a little provoked by emotion when she saw the cynical smile on her husband's face. But it didn't last long. He closed his eyes to gather patience. "All right! Now tell me, how did your mother say yesterday?."

"Mom said you said bad things about her when you were serving the buyer, and the buyer told my mom. Even my mother told me that you had said inappropriate words to her. He said you said, 'had known someone else woke up, followed. Mending if there's money, is this it?' that's what he said."

Tests.....

A drop of tear fell on Larissa's smooth cheek. He remembers that speech very much. Someone once told him that the mother-in-law had said that, and he just kept this to himself because he did not want to aggravate the heated atmosphere at that time. But why now he even twisted the facts by saying that he was the one who had insulted the mother-in-law.

Larissa tried to defend herself that she was not what Hamzah accused her of. "Oath to Allah, Entik, I never said that. Even if you want, I can swear in front of the person you said you'd heard me talk like that."

Hamzah's heart believed in Larissa's words. He knew his wife had never sworn a lie. But his mind rejected the truth. And unfortunately he prefers the word mind rather than the word heart. "Don't use the name of God to cover up your mistakes. It will never change the fact that you insulted my mother."

Larissa's heart grew increasingly sad to know Hamzah did not believe his words even though he had sworn. Hamzah knew very well that Larissa never uttered a false oath.

"It's up to you to say aoa about me. But try now you think, if it's true that I once said that while serving the buyer, then the first person to hear it must be you, not your mother. Aren't you always near me when I'm serving buyers?."

Hamzah again faltered with the argument expressed by his wife because all that was true. He was always next to Larissa to help her serve the buyers. But her trust in her mother made her ignore her heart.

Seeing Hamzah's silence made Larissa's heart even more disappointed. She could not believe that her husband had lost faith in her.

"I never thought you would lose faith in me" Larissa said. There's a melt of tears on the cheeks. "If you accuse me of that, then fine! I accept the accusation from you. But at least find out the truth before you accuse."

"I know that you believe in your mother a lot, and I never blame that. That's your right as a child."

Larissa kept trying to explain, but Hamzah remained silent and was not even affected by her tears.

"It's sad. We once taught Izzah to be honest and trust each other. But we even deny our own words, "a bitter smile is on Larissa's face. "Don't you want to know what the truth is?."

Hamzah looked up at Larissa. "What?."
