Someone Who is Waiting

"So, hit-and-run victim huh?" kataku concluded.

"I don't think so. I recognized the car that hit him. That's the guy's car I met in the alley with him." Jho.

"So the murder victim under the pretext of hit-and-run. Do you remember the license plate of the car?" Ask again. Jho nodded.

"If so. You just have to report it so that the case is fully investigated." My speech. But Jho seems to disagree. His expression looked worried and confused.

"Why Jho?" My toot.

"I can't report it." Answer Jho.

Yeah, I know. If he could indeed report it since yesterday, this ghost would definitely not stick to him.

"Is there a reason?" my many.

"The man I was telling you about, the son of one of the high officials. I could've gotten into trouble if they knew I was an eyewitness. Even my life could be threatened." Jho explained.

I-i understand. The low level of witness protection and weak law against powerful people make doubtful people the key witnesses to a crime.

Especially if it involves people who have a position. It could be that his condition could turn around to endanger himself. I can't blame Jho's decision entirely. That's humane.

"I don't understand why that woman is haunting me. I didn't commit a crime to him." His complaint.

"Jho, have you ever heard the term 'silent means to do'. You're correct. You did not commit any crime for which you should be punished. But not for the victim. Because you saw and saw it. But you ignored him and didn't help him. If you're in that woman's position, how do you feel?"

"In the eyes of the victim, your silence is as cruel as the crime itself."

"If so, why didn't he buy the man? Why me and not that guy?" Jho Protests.

"I don't know either. Wanna ask?"

"No need! Just imagining him on my back gives me goosebumps." Jho refused.

"Whoa!" Jho jumped in shock from the chair, "what is it? I hear a moaning?" Ask panicked.

" Silent Jho! He's just answering your question. He said he came to the man. But the man was not affected at all. He said the man was not human. Have no feelings. The rest is just a snub for the man. Would I translate all?" Jel explained.

"No need."

"You're more human. She likes you. That's why he's sticking to you." Saying continues.

"I didn't expect to be liked by ghosts. So now how should I?" Ask again.

"I have an acquaintance of a police official who happens to be on duty here. I'll try asking for his help. If I succeed, I'll call you." I said. Jho nodded in agreement.

The next night I called Pak Bima. I know him from Angga. Angga had helped Pak Bima solve his case, so since then Angga and Pak Bima have been on good terms. He was an honest cop. That's how Angga argues.

After contacting her, I told her the problem. It just so happened that Pak Bima knew the police who were investigating this case.

Pak Bima is willing to help. Bima sir and I accompanied Jho to testify the event. Police are also willing to keep Jho's identity a secret as a witness and ensure his safety.

"I hope the culprit gets his reward soon." My speech.

"Do you think that person will be arrested?" Ask Jho to me.

"Fixing a crime is not enough with witnesses. Police also need evidence of the crime to arrest the perpetrator. And it's gonna be the job of the police who's running the case." Said Mr. Bima in my place to answer.

"You've done great things, son of Jonathan. It takes a lot of courage to tell the truth. You've helped the police in investigating this case." Bima sir said to Jho. He made himself feel proud to have done something great.

"We need young people like you who are brave and honest to build justice in the future. Justice cannot be established by one party. But together"

I agree with what was said by Mr. Bima. Justice is not the duty of one party only but is built by many people including the community in it.

Pak Bima offered us a ride to take us home. But we refused it. We are planning to visit the grave of the victim. We thanked him for his help and left.

Jho expression relieved. It was as if a heavy burden had escaped him. In fact, the ghost of the woman is still attached and hanging on her back. I let it go because I knew in a minute that it would disappear on its own.

At the tomb, we cross paths with a young man who had just visited the tomb.

I elbowed Jho and whispered, "Is he the man who hit him?" I was suspicious because the woman was emitting a strange emotion when we passed the man earlier.

It is not unusual for the perpetrator to pretend to visit the victim's grave to allay suspicion.

"No. That's his fiancee." Jho's answer left me dumbfounded.

"Actually I've heard some gossip lately. The perpetrator seemed to fall for the victim and forced her to be together. But the victim refused because she had a fiancee and was getting married. So I think, because I don't accept the victim's refusal, the perpetrator decided to kill the victim." That's what Jho told me.

"Well, I've heard the term love at the shaman's refusal to act. But it's different again. Love denied lives lost." My word.

I feel sorry for that woman. Being a beautiful woman and being coveted by men's feet doesn't always give you happiness. This woman had a tragic end to her life.

When she expects happiness with her future child and future husband to live soon, she must die in the hands of those who love her unilaterally.

The woman had now slipped off Jho's shoulders and stared at the flower that the man had placed on his grave. I did not see her face clearly, however, I was sure she left with a smile.

"So she's the one you're waiting for." I told the woman who disappeared with the wind.

"What?" Ask Jho who does not understand my words.

"It's nothing. Let's go home." Take me.

Sometimes fate is hard to translate. Like that woman who had experienced a beautiful breakup with the person she was waiting for, the wheels of my destiny moved again.

I was waiting for the bus at the stop. The wind is blowing hard. A piece of paper flew towards me and stuck to my feet. I picked it up and accidentally saw it. A poster for the search for missing persons. I was surprised to see the photo on the poster. The face of the boy I met a few days ago at the station. But the name on the poster is different. Raphael.

"Ello?" I'm shocked.

I'm figuring out where the paper's flying from. Not far from me, near the zebra cross a young man was spreading leaflets. He's not older than me, maybe even younger.

What was striking from him was that the man was still using the campus alma mater. And I recognized him. That was my college alma mater.
