Honesty Or Lies, Illusions Or Real

POV Melya

I was surprised Riri called me that afternoon. He's acting weird today. He asked me to go to his house. At first I refused, as the sun was about to set, mother would definitely not let me out.

However, Riri sounded very scared on the phone. I grabbed my jacket and didn't forget to bring a flashlight.

"Mel, where are you going?" ask mom, looking through the kitchen.

"I'm going to a friend's house, ma. Borrow a notebook" I replied.

"Can't, ma. Tomorrow the task must be gathered. I promise it won't be long. The house is also close to here."

"Yes, already. Careful yeah!"

"Yes, ma."

Riri once told me his home address. The distance is not far only about ten minutes if I run.

I had already reached the large street, where rows of two-story mansions lined up facing each other.

"I've arrived in front of your house. But I didn't see the girl. Where's she?" I asked Riri through my phone.

"So I've just seen it still there" replied the voice from across the street.

I rushed towards Riri's house. I saw his mother on the porch. He greeted me kindly.

"I'm a classmate of Riri's. Riri's there, Auntie?" ask pleasantries. My phone is still connected to him.

"Oh he's in the room. Coming, boy!"

"Amaha!!" the sound of screaming surprised us both. Her voice came from across my phone, coming from Riri's room.

"He's in front of my window! help me!" riri shouted in fear on the phone. We immediately ran towards Riri's room. Followed by his father who came later.

Riri looks fucked. He roared unapologetically. He was clearly very scared. His father checked the window of his room which was locked tightly. He opened it and checked the window. Nothing was found.

Riri pulled me into her room. He asked me to check his room. He was afraid that the creature had already infiltrated inside. I did not feel any subtle creatures or evil spirits. I also saw no trace. So what made Riri up to such fear?

"Relie! Be calm! There's nothing here. Maybe you're just having a bad dream" I said persuading.

"I'm not dreaming! I really saw it! Please believe me!" Riri insisted. For a while Riri was difficult to calm down. Until he finally got tired and slept on his own. After that I went home.

Before leaving the house, I checked around. To convince myself that there was nothing I missed. I checked for any traces that might have been left behind. Unfortunately I found nothing.

The next day, Riri entered the classroom in a hurry. He told me that someone was following him. The girl he saw back then was now watching him. Day by day his behavior gets weird.

I went around checking on the school, but I didn't find the girl Riri meant.

Oddly enough, the key was also missing from me. I don't know if the key's back at Riri's or not. After school I discussed this with Laila without Riri's knowledge. Coincidentally, there was our homeroom teacher, Arya.

"Father also felt concerned about Riri's current state. You asked him to rest at home to calm down, but he refused."

"I'm sorry, there's actually something I want to tell you about the key" said Nia, class secretary and Laila's friend. The three of us noticed what Nia had delivered.

"I accidentally saw him take the locker key from inside Melya's bag. I also saw him do the same to Laila.

"What?" We were all shocked.

"So you're saying he's been lying all this time?" ask Laila not to believe it.

"I'm not sure. I don't think he's lying" I argue.

"Is it possible that he did it unconsciously?" Nia's opinion made us think and look at each other.

"If that is true, he must be dealt with immediately by his experts before the situation gets worse," said Laila again.

"Keep this a secret from the other children. You will talk to him tomorrow" said Mr. Arya. We came home with an unanswered puzzle. Did Riri really lie?

Until one night Riri knocked on my door in a panic. Fortunately my mother was not home at the time. I'm going to Aunt Yusi's house.

When I opened the door I was surprised to see his figure standing in front of me. Hair disheveled. His face and clothes look dirty. His eyes were red and swollen like he had been crying for a long time. Some wounds on his arms and knees seemed to have fallen somewhere.

"To-help me! He's after me again and he wants to catch me! I didn't dare go home because he kept waiting in front of my house. Help me!" His wife's to me.

He pulled me out of the house and took me to where the female ghost was waiting for him. But again I didn't see it.

"So it's here! He almost caught me until he fell. I got away but he kept chasing me. I keep running away from him."

"I screamed for help but no one wanted to help me. They all couldn't see what was chasing me. But you're different. You can see the ghost. That's why I ran to your place. Only you can help me. Please help me get away from that ghost!"

"Relie! Enough's enough! There's nothing there! There are no ghosts! It's only in your mind!"

I was confused what else to say to her. I am tired of all his behavior. I don't know if he's telling the truth or lying. Is he serious or is playing a show.

I actually didn't see anything. I didn't find anything. There is no evidence that he was honest.

"You mean I lied?" he said with a questioning tone. It was as if I had made an accusation that hurt his heart.

"It's not. Riri's! Everything you've been through isn't real. It's all in your mind!"

Riri looked shocked at my words. "I kind of wish that you were different from the others. I wish you could trust me that's why I'm coming for you."

"Riri, it's not that I don't want to help you," Riri moved away as I tried to approach her.

"Sorry, it's bothering you!" That was the last word he said to me. He ran away in the darkness.

The next day he showed up in class with a situation that made me anxious. Dreary aura. His eyes are empty. He barely spoke a word to me. I thought he was still mad at me for what happened that night.

I tried to get him to talk but he didn't respond. He went to the toilet while I was talking to him. I could have ignored it, actually. Unfortunately, my heart refused. I can't let him be in this state. If left unchecked his mind and mentality will fall even more.

She ran to class in panic. "Please! Riri-he passed out in the toilet!"
