Tania POV
I was going to Lili's house. But hearing Nino's crying voice my sister Lili changed her mind. I got a bad feeling. So, I rushed to where the crying sound came from.
Justright. I saw Lili dragged to the bottom of the river while Nino was crying by the river, calling out to her brother.
Without thinking I jumped into the river. I watched how the crocodile bit his leg and dragged him. Even if I get Lili's body, if I pull it forcibly then her legs will break. Therefore there was no other way but to hit the crocodile.
I clenched my hands and gathered strength then punched him in the head. The crocodile thrashed in pain with my sudden fist, so he let go of Lili's leg. I quickly brought Lili's body to the surface and left the crocodile in pain in the water.
"Feel that! How dare you make Lili your lunch! You're the one I'm gonna make dinner for."
I managed to get him ashore and a little away from the riverbank. Unfortunately, Lili was unconscious. I don't know how to wake her. While waiting he realized I was treating the wound on his leg. The wound is pretty bad.
Meanwhile, the crocodile stealth crept out of the river.
"You're really looking to die, boy!" The crocodile looked very angry. Look at his sharp teeth, which are ready to tear flesh. "It looks like I'll get a delicious snack before dinner."
"Who do you call snacks, tadpole boy. You're the one I'm gonna chop up first." Angry reply. I advanced against him so as not to approach Nino and Lili.
"Oh, I thought it was just a normal human being. Turns out there's a tree mouse playing all the way here. Are you lost?" The crocodile scoffed.
"It's none of your business!"
"Of course it's my business. You attacked me suddenly. It is the same as declaring war on our nation. Just look! I'll report this to my boss."
"Hey! I only hit you once. Do not overdo it until you have to report everything. It's both of our business anyway, don't get the group involved!"
The crocodile laughed with its wide open mouth. "Why? Are you afraid of your tribe losing? It seems true said people. You're just a cowardly tribe. After being betrayed by humans, you choose to hide on a mountain like a mole."
"Stop insulting my tribe! You don't know anything about us!" I knew the crocodile was provoking me. But I couldn't help but feel the emotion of hearing his words.
"Different from you. We will not let go of the humans who have hunted us. We have to repay them. One of our dead comrades' lives will be paid for with dozens of human lives. That's just fair. They have to realize that we are stronger than them."
"What is fair? Your brain mostly drinks water to the point of not being able to think, huh? It doesn't matter if you kill the hunter, you unfortunately involve innocent people in your revenge blindly. I can't let it."
"So you're not going away?" The crocodile turned around me while watching me.
"Lili is my friend. There's no way I'm gonna let you eat it."
The crocodile bulldozed me with its tail. My body fell into the river. I'm breathless.
I swam up to the edge and watched the crocodile open its mouth wide beside Lili's body.
I moved the tree tendrils around to tie the crocodile up and hold it.
I climbed to the surface and shook off the remaining water in my body.
"Just for free! My magic isn't that easy to break. In the water you are great, but on land we are far superior." I told the crocodile.
"You really intend a war with us? Just to defend that human child? Just look as soon as I get back I'll report this to our queen. See how we'll repay you." Threatened him.
"It's also if you can get out of here. Unfortunately I have no intention of letting you go." Threatened back. I stared coldly at the slithering animal that was currently trapped in my strength.
"You want what you? You can't possibly dare to kill me here!"
"I'm not gonna kill you." I said to him with a smile. I took a deep breath.
"Please! There's crocodiles! Help me!" Shouts as loud as possible. I soon heard footsteps approaching.
Some of the young men who had been on guard not far from the river heard my screams and came over. They were preparing with a pointed bamboo in their hands.
"Help me! The crocodile wants to eat me and my friend." I said while pretending to cry when one of them came to question me.
The young men, who were dozens of, managed to surround the crocodile and kill it.
"This is a worthy reward for you for killing innocent people." I spoke to the crocodile through my mind. I didn't get a reply. The crocodile is dead.
Lili's parents took Lili to the village medicine hall for treatment. After making sure he was taken care of, I went home. I hope Lili's condition will improve when I visit her again.
A few days later, I went back to visit Lili. I saw him sitting on the porch. He looked troubled and pale as usual who was cheerful.
"Lilly!" Sapaku while touching the back of his hand. But he's not flinching. Empty views.
'What happened to him?' my question is in my heart.
"He's been like that since he woke up." Said his mother as if answering my astonishment to Lili.
"She doesn't talk much and stays in the room more often. Sometimes he runs scared when there's nothing? The speech is also unclear. We have taken him for treatment several times but his condition has not recovered. We don't know what happened to our son." Her mother said a song while crying.
I tried to calm him down. I understand her mother's feelings. The mother was very affectionate and proud of her daughter. Although Lili is only 12 years old, Lili has helped her family make a living and take care of her younger siblings. He's a kid his parents can rely on.
Something's wrong with Lili. Condition's weird. I think I saved him that day. But why did it become like this? Did the crocodile secretly bash Lili? Or something happens when I'm not around. I feel this has something to do with the ruler of that river.
I walked along the river's headwaters, looking for the exact position of their palace entrance. I have to talk to the queen about this.
Suddenly someone pulled my arm. I looked over and found a figure I knew.
