The Absham Forest Guard

Hundreds of years have passed. I am also used to living in this forest carrying out the duties given to me as well as accompanying the ruler of this forest, Absham.

Absham's name is actually a name for the tree he lived in all this time. In addition to being tall and large, this tree has a unique fragrant aroma that no other tree has.

This tree is quite old, I'm sure it's thousands of years old. Trees that grow from two soils and grow in two different realms, store great life energy. Our ruler decided to hide this tree into our world. And become the boundary between our world and the human world.

After hundreds of years human settlement is getting more advanced and extensive while the forest land is getting narrower.

From the top of the old tree I watched the human settlement adjacent to the forest.

"Hey, old man! What would happen to us if these forests were evicted by humans?" my many.

"That's impossible, humans need forests to protect their settlements. And stop calling me old man! I'm only 200 years old with you!" abugn.

"About 100-200 years is quite a lot in the human world. Don't you know?" sahutku.

"But not in our world. It was the same as a few years. I'm not old." protested. I smiled at his attitude.

Sham always looks grumpy and stiff. He is very obedient to the rules that have been made by the ruler of the highest region, my uncle. He also does not like humans.

However, he allowed humans to enter the forest for a certain amount of time and on the condition that they did not destroy the forest.

"All!" I'm yawning. Getting tired of just looking at everything from the top of the tree. I jumped down.

"Where are you going?" absham asked from the tree.

"I'll patrol as usual. I'll be right back." I replied.

One more thing I like about Absham is that he doesn't forbid me from entering the human world. By reason of patrols to keep the forest safe and also the village I was allowed as long as not involved human affairs too deep.

From a distance a young man was surrounded by two hungry beasts. I put pressure on the ground I stepped on. The savage beasts who noticed my appearance immediately fled.

I approached the young man who was leaning against the tree trunk. He gave me a confused and astonished look.

"Who are you? Are you a ghost, a fairy, an angel, or an angel?" ask the young man.

"not everything. I'm just a woman who lives in this forest. You look sick. Let me check on you." My answer. The man's face looked pale. He's very ill.

"Where is your family? Why are you here? Shall I take you home?" ask again. He shook his head.

"My family brought me here. They want to be my offering to this forest guardian. They said my illness brought harm to my family, so they threw me here." Even though she tried to smile, I knew how sad her heart was right now.

The humans are doing this useless thing again. It's only right that Absham doesn't like humans. Absham did not need human offerings, but the humans treated as if Absham had eaten human flesh.

Instead of offering sacred offerings to the forest waiters, they actually throw their sick and troublesome families into this forest to reduce the cost of living.

Cruel. Only one word that I can say to a creature that could throw his family away. It makes me angry and angry.

The young man grabbed my hand and shook his head as if he knew what I was going to do to his family.

"Don't! Please no! I'm not mad at them nor do I want to hate them. So please let them. I'll be dead soon anyway. I know you're no ordinary girl. Thank you for helping me out of that beast. You can ignore me."

Although he spoke so I knew in his eyes still implied the desire to live.I salute his sincerity.

"Wait here! Don't go anywhere! I'll be right back." I asked him.

I went to pick up some elixir plants that I managed to grow in this forest. With my strength and my knowledge of plants I managed to grow rare plants that were useful for medicine.

"Chew this a few times and swallow." I said to him while I was giving the plants I picked. He complies. I gave you a drink with a bamboo container.

"Rest. No beast will come near because I have marked your place. Tomorrow I'll bring the plant back. After eating it a few times you'll be healthy again and strong enough to work alone without relying on your family." I kept my promise to come help him several times. Sometimes I bring him food and drinks.

Absham probably won't like me doing this. But I also don't want to if we are to blame for the death of this young man. They would probably say that these forest waiters have taken human casualties again. And we never did that.

After some time he was well enough to leave this forest and find work in a nearby village. The young man thanked me and left.

"Make sure you don't get lost in this forest anymore and make it hard for me." I reminded him before he left. He smiled back at my words. After that I never saw him again.

A few days later many people came to this forest for various reasons. The issue of a sick young man who recovered after entering the forest became several versions of the story.

Some say the young man had met with a supernatural creature like a forest fairy or Goddess or could be a female demon. They come to find out his certainty, hoping to find the mysterious figure of the forest guard. However, after some time of searching they gave up. Their search ended in vain without finding a single clue. They concluded that the story was untrue and was mere gossip.

Some also came to this forest to find the elixir that had healed the young man. Some are looking to heal their sick families, but there are also greedy cunning humans. They exploit rare plants and sell them at high prices.

For people like them I played them. I let them take the plants as much as possible but I will make them get lost. I locked them up until they wanted to throw away the plants they were harvesting.

Sometimes I let them take it out, but I turned all those rare plants into another plant or a sack of stone. Seeing their shocked and frightened expressions greatly comforted me dispelling my boredom.

After giving them a lesson to the greedy people, the residents finally understood that the plants they picked had their owners and should not be carelessly picking them.

They used to ask permission before harvesting the plant. Their intention of taking the plant should be good and clean, otherwise they will get punishment from the owner. This habit is believed and passed down by generations to their children and grandchildren.

There are also heretics who worship us like gods or gods. Several times they came and gave offerings and offerings to forest waiters to get fertility and prosperity.

Absham was fed up and moved with the action. This is very serious because this will give birth to heretics who deviate from their supposed beliefs. Therefore Absham and I had to show up in front of them and give them a warning.

"We are not gods so stop your useless actions because it only makes us angry. We are just like you have a god we believe in and a ruler we obey. If you continue this activity of yours then I myself will intervene to punish you with severe punishment and you cannot imagine."

Absham transformed himself back into a giant tree figure, tall and large, with his loud and frightening voice he spoke once again in a threatening tone, "Have you all tried to punish me? I'd be happy to show it."

The humans ran away so scared. They don't show up anymore. Not doing any more offerings. But everyone believed in their hearts that in the forest adjoining them were two high-powered supernatural beings guarding the forest.

If they were to be kind then the guard would also be kind to them. But if they do evil, then punishment will be what they get. And this is what they bequeath and they tell their posterity.
