Behind The Lies

Behind The Lies
Uncomfortable

Ashilla's head tonight is full of burdens of thought. He was still thinking of ways to persuade Angkasa to rent a house, apartment or anything before they buy or build a house for them to live in. Ashilla doesn't know where to live. He regretted not planning this before. Now it seems that Angkasa has no plans in the near future because he was just about to start his new job.

“Sayang.” He hugged his wife from behind. “You are still thinking about the incident?” her tanyanya whispered behind Ashilla's head.

Ashilla was silent and did not react.

“I will grant your wish, but not today or tomorrow.”

“When?” ask Ashilla without looking.

“At least give me time. You, you know I'm not earning right now. My savings went out for yesterday's party.”

“Salah itself, why do you not want to receive money from Opa, from Mommy and even from your own Papa.”

Space did bear all the wedding expenses, but it was because he himself had refused all the expenses from others. He wanted to prove that he could, he could afford it and now he can actually afford one small house unit because he still has other savings, however, there's no point in discussing that with Ashilla. He lived in the house because of his father's request.

“My savings are enough to buy a house or at least contract,” Ashilla said as she turned and looked at her husband.

“That means, I hitchhiked in your house.”

Ashilla shook her head. “That's our home.”

“No if the money is from you.”

“Then what's the difference if you buy the house? I hitchhiked like that?”

“It's different, Ashilla. Husband's duty to support and build a house for his wife.”

“I don't care.” Ashilla sat up straight while Space remained lying down. The man raised his face so that he could continue to look at her. “For me everything is the same.”

“But, for me it is different.”

“You are prestigious, you always want to look great,” accuse Ashilla while throwing your face away.

Space takes a breath. “I just want to be the best for you and Asa,” he said softly. “At least all this time I was always honest and never hid anything from you.”

Ashilla's heart slipped and she quickly looked at her husband. “You want to be the best for me and Asa, ‘right? Then I'll get out of this house.”

The space again breathed. Just one day married he was already faced with a problem like this.  “Papa asked us to stay here, Shill. Earlier this morning you said yourself to stay at my parents' house, but why is it like this?”

Ashilla scowled. He went back to sleep, back to Space.

“I told you, we'll have our own house, that's for sure. I will also grant your wish, but not today or tomorrow.”

“Lusa?” ask Ashilla without looking.

“Negot the day after too,” reject Soft Space.

“Ya it's up to you,” spiteful Ashilla pissed.

Ashilla sometimes forgets how to be grateful. If he wants something, all he thinks about is how it can be accomplished.

“From you think of it, how about if we make plans for our honeymoon,” suggested Angkasa Patient.

Ashilla was silent without responding.

“Yang,” persuade Angkasa while tightening the body to Ashilla's back. “You should be happy, don't be angry like gini.”

“You think I'm not happy?” Ashilla moved her shoulders, for Angkasa to let go of her embrace.

“If you're happy, you shouldn't believe gini.”

“Angkasa, please.”

Angkasa sighed while releasing his embrace. He then straightened his body and stared at the ceiling of the room.

“I don't know why suddenly you're like gini.” The man sighed again and put both his hands on his stomach. “I don't think you're going to bother with Daniel here.”

Nearly thirty seconds both of them were silent. Space is busy diving into Ashilla's mind. While Ashilla himself is still trying to find a way without making Angkasa suspicious.

“I'm just not comfortable,” said Ashilla after a long silence.

Space watched. “I swear he won't interfere with your life, Asa and even all this time he never interfered with my life, Ashilla.”

Ashilla rubbed her face rough.

“You're just not used to it.”

“I don't want to get used to.”

“I didn't ask for long. I promise not to be a year.”

Ashilla turned around and looked at Space. “Then we return to New York.”

“Gosh ... what else is this ...” Space patted his own forehead. “I married an Indonesian woman. If I want to go back there why don't I marry someone there.”

Ashilla's forehead frowned, her face crimson. “Then why did you marry me?” tanyanya.

Space is sitting.

“It seems that it should not be discussed again. That's just a parable.”

Ashilla snorts.

Angkasa himself is upset because the edges Ashilla will doubt his love again. Then he would re-expose a thousand words of love to convince Ashilla. Space thought it would be of no use because Ashilla would reconnect him with her desire to leave and not stay there. ‘If you love me you should be able to grant my wish and bla-bla-bla’.

Space ruffled his own hair rough. He thought by getting married he would understand Ashilla even better, however, it turned out to be even more complicated.

Ashilla got up and left the bed.

“Where are you going?” ask Space.

“I want to sleep in Asa's room,” replied Ashilla without turning her head.

“Ngak. You can't go anywhere,” forbid Space.

“Why?” ask Ashilla, turning around. “Don't bother you my husband, you can ban me at will.”

“I'm not forbidding, but what does Papa say with Mama later?”

“What indeed? They will understand, we just say if Asa does not want to sleep alone.”

“Enough.” Space quickly got out of bed and pulled Ashilla's hand. “You too often involve people in your lies.”

“Angkasa!” Ashilla threw her husband's hand. “I think with us getting married we won't fight anymore.”

Ashilla then sat down on the bed. This should be common because even during courtship they often quarrel, fight and even end up breaking up, but eventually they come back and need each other.

“You are first.”

“I just want us to move and not stay here, is it hard? Just because you don't feel good about your Papa, you keep making me stay here?”

Jeez!” Space quickly sat next to his wife. “You yourself told Opa that you would stay here, but why are you changing your mind now?”

“You already know the reason.”

“Just because Daniel is here, and he doesn't bother you. What is it, Shill?”

Ashilla threw herself on the bed, then pulled out a blanket and pretended to be asleep.

Space takes a breath. He only realized that Ashilla was so selfish and childish. All this time, Angkasa has always spoiled and granted Ashilla's wishes whatever the consequences and as difficult as it may be, but now Ashilla must understand that she is just an ordinary human who has many limitations.
