Behind The Lies

Behind The Lies
Fevers

“Why do you have to get into my life,” Edgar told Marissa.

Marissa's heart is beating. “What Brother mean?”

“Listen, I can solve my problem. My life experience is so much more than yours. You should not be here,” stressed Edgar.

Marissa wet her throat. His chest hurt like a dagger. He finally realized that Edgar didn't want to see him here. So that's probably why Edgar left that night, too.

“Icha come here nemenin Kak Iyash, kok,” said the woman as she turned inside and she saw Iyash standing there, apparently Iyash heard all their talk. “So I can't see his right hand with a gunshot wound, it's all because he wants to protect Icha.”

Edgar turned the other way. She doesn't want Marissa to know that she's actually jealous of Marissa and Iyash's affection.

Marissa quickly bowed. “Icha is indeed just one reader of thousands of loyal readers Kak Edgar. Icha know Icha limitation here, so–”

Instantly Edgar grabbed Marissa's body and held it warm. Marissa gasped until she could not speak.

“Thank you.”

From a distance Iyash felt goiter because he had to watch how Edgar grabbed the tiny body of Marissa into his arms.

Slowly Edgar broke down the hug, then clasped both of Marissa's cheeks. “Nothing happens to be in this world, but I wish Iyash was just a person who happens to be present in your life just like any other.”

Marissa's heart was broken, and so was Iyash. The man immediately turned around and accidentally broke into a relationship with Grandma Alma. However, Iyash chose to go and hide his feelings.

Alma's grandmother realized something was making Iyash look sad. He quickly caught up with Marissa to see what happened. However, Grandma Alma was stuck in front of the door. He was surprised to see Edgar about to kiss Marissa. Maybe that's what makes Iyash go away in a sad state. Thought Grandma Alma.

“Cha,” call Granny Alma fast. Before Edgar actually landed his lips on Marissa. However, Marissa herself did not feel that Edgar would kiss her. Although Marissa harbored a love for Edgar, but she was not sure Edgar had the same feelings.

Marissa immediately turned to Grandma Alma.

“Help Grandma open Iyash's hand brace. Said he wanted to change clothes.”

“Oh. Yes.” Marissa was gone and she forgot to say goodbye to Edgar. So Edgar felt that Iyash was more important than him.

“Kak Iyashnya where, Nek?” ask Marissa.

“In his room maybe.”

Marissa nodded and quickly went after Iyash. While Grandma Alma approached Edgar.

“We do not know what your relationship with Icha is. But, son, grandma hope you can keep up the attitude. Not good to hug and even want to kiss women, especially in the open like this.”

“Grandmother misunderstood.” Edgar smiled. “Who wants to kiss Icha?

“Oh, maybe Grandma did misunderstand.” Alma's grandmother was silent for a few seconds while Edgar was instead made uncomfortable with Grandma Alma's accusations. He was gonna whisper something to Marissa. But it becomes like this.

“If you want to go home, not now. You can travel tomorrow morning.”

Edgar nodded. He finally relented. But it was all for Marissa.

Marissa herself had arrived in front of Iyash's room. He saw that Iyash was having trouble removing the hand brace. The woman suddenly grabbed the sling arm strap and helped Iyash release it.

“Why is it here?” ask Iyash.

“Please, don't ask that, earlier Brother Edgar also asked like that and I hurt,” Marissa murmured. Slowly Marissa took off the buttons on Iyash's shirt. He then took off part of his right hand until it accidentally touched the man's skin. “Kak Iyash fever?”

“I'm okay.” Iyash forgot to mention me to him.

“Do not care,” snort Iyash while walking to the closet.

Marissa clucking. “If you don't want anyone else to care about Iyash, why did Iyash care about me at the time? And you can let Marlo shoot me? Then, ‘kan, I do not need to bother caring for Big Brother, I just care about myself.”

“Now there is no need. You can care about yourself and your own interests, besides you are here for him, ‘kan? So, no need to bother taking care of me.”

It seems that Marissa doesn't care what Iyash says, even if Iyash takes away the formality.

“Where is the cure?” ask the woman to worry. However, Iyash ignored her and instead went near the cupboard, then picked up a sea blue t-shirt. Marissa follows the man and snatches the shirt from Iyash's hand, then helps him change clothes.

“Semenyusthennya Brother Iyash, I will not forget what Brother Iyash did. Because I should have felt that pain. I should be the one in Sister Iyash's current position.”

Iyash. However, he did not dare to look at Marissa's face any longer. Suddenly he was ashamed of what he had done to the woman.

“Don't move much, Kak Iyash's hands are swollen. What if this is a symptom of infection?” marissa's nagging after helping Iyash change clothes. He again asked for the cure, but, again Iyash did not answer. This time Iyash was stunned to look at the worried face of the woman.

“Where is the cure?” ask Marissa again. He was upset that Iyash had not told him again, so Marissa had to ransack the young man's backpack. Suddenly he was stunned to see a pink satin ribbon inside Iyash's backpack. He then pulled the ribbon that contained patches of blood that had dried. “This?”

Iyash turned his head and immediately snatched the ribbon from Marissa's hand. “I forgot to bring the medicine.”

Marissa was stunned staring at the ribbon Iyash was holding.

Iyash himself immediately laid his body on the bed. He then pulled the blanket over his neck.

“Turn off the lights and close the door, I want to break.” Iyash is back to being formal, even though he was almost caught by Marissa.

Marissa let out a sigh and obeyed Iyash's orders. However, he actually could not bear to let Iyash alone in his pain. “Kak, if you need anything, say yes.”

Iyash did not say. While Marissa quickly closed the door to Iyash's room, without leaving it. He sat on a chair by the door. Iyash doesn't realize that because he asked Marissa to turn the lights off.

While in front of the door of the room Edgar looked so restless because Marissa did not come out of Iyash's room. His mind was not lost. What are Marissa and Iyash doing in a dark room?

Iyash moaned feeling pain all over his body. He also shivered in the cold.

Marissa is panicking. He got up and left the chair. “Kak?” Then get closer to Iyash. Iyash's body temperature is getting higher. Sweat also pours out on his forehead. “Icha will ask Grandma to call Doctor.” The woman walked quickly and opened the door, but she stared at Edgar, who was standing at the door.

“Cha?”

Marissa passed by and ignored the man. He was just thinking about Iyash, what if something worse happened than this?

“Nek, Cake,” call Marissa panic.

“Why?” ask Grandma Alma worried.

“Kak Iyash fever.”

“What?”

Marissa nodded.

“Begging Sugeng to call Doctor Seto,” says Juragan Hartanto.

Grandma Alma nodded. Then go to the back. Sugeng and his wife live in a house that is right behind the house. Sugeng served as a trusted person to take care of all livestock owned by the boss. While his wife, Lastri became a cook for the family. As well as being paid to clean the house and wash clothes.

Marissa and Juragan Hartanto return to Iyash's room. While Edgar can only stand at the door since then, he did not even take advantage of the opportunity to check on the condition of his sister. Because he thinks this is not the time. Iyash may have lost a few percent of his consciousness, so maybe Edgar couldn't talk to him.
