Trapped Between Two Times

At five o'clock after dawn Ashilla helped Marni prepare breakfast. It is not good to go back to sleep in people's homes, while he himself has to prepare the needs of Asa school. While he knew Angkasa back to sleep, earlier even Angkasa had invited him to connect, but Ashilla refused on the grounds of having to prepare breakfast for Asa because Pak Yayan had departed from Ganjar's house to deliver uniforms, but Ashilla refused, bags, books, and other Asa needs.

While that morning Daniel was exercising in the backyard, so the window of the room immediately pointed at the man. Ashilla can hear Daniel jump while skipping, she can also see the man from the kitchen window.

If Ashilla thought too quickly to make a decision, she should be more relaxed to enjoy her marriage. Perhaps he could stay at the hotel for a few days and come to a mature conclusion to stay in the Space house. Or he could stay in Ganjar's house and forgive the old man's mistakes.

Last night when she woke up from her sleep and went to the kitchen to get a drink. There she accidentally meets Daniel.

“Hai,” greet the man between dark.

Ashilla's heart was beating, she was very familiar with that voice, which was clearly not the voice of Space. Ashilla quickly turned around and tried to dodge.

“You never told me about Asa,” Daniel said as Ashilla passed by.

As Ashilla's footsteps came to a halt, she then turned her head and looked at the man. “Don't mention my son's name.”

The light could not hide Daniel's smile that night. “So, right, Asa is my son?”

“I don't need your confession. You better stay away from him.”

“Ngak,” reject Daniel fast. “Asa must know who her father is.”

Ashilla grieves. He then brought the index finger closer to Daniel's chest. “A coward, will forever remain a coward.”

Daniel quickly held Ashilla's hand. “Then I will tell Angkasa that I am Asa's father.”

“Ngak. All this time Asa has been quite happy living with us, so, never disturb him.” Ashilla pulled her hand from Daniel's.

“I will keep telling them Asa is my flesh and blood.”

“Ngak!”

“Why, Non?” ask Marni to panic.

Ashilla gasps. He seemed to be pulled from last night's incident. From the night that she saw Daniel at the door of her hotel room, all the good memories with Daniel were bad for her. He could not forget, so failed to enjoy his night with Angkasa. Now even Daniel managed to destroy his life, even since last night he could not sleep and kept thinking about Daniel's words. He was afraid that Daniel would say everything.

“Sini, Non, let aunty aja.” Marni takes over Ashilla's job. Since the water was allowed to flow from the tap washing all fresh vegetables, Marni thought Ashilla was used to washing vegetables until that long, it turned out that the young master's wife was daydreaming in the middle of her job washing vegetables.

“I want to wake up Space first.” Ashilla immediately brought a cup of hot tea to the room.

Finally the thing he was most afraid of happened, but never the slightest bit he thought that his ex-girlfriend, or rather Asa's biological father was Angkasa's half-brother. Had he known earlier, of course he would not have been stuck between his past and his future the way it is now.

Ashilla quickly opened the room door and placed the tea on the table. “Wake up,” he said on a roll of blankets that he thought was Space. She sat down on the edge of the bed and looked at her husband. Should he have said it all before Daniel told Space? At least Angkasa knows from him not from Daniel, so if there is anything he can help and anticipate everything.

“I want to talk to you,” said Ashilla fretting. He then took a long breath. “Force, you should know, why I don't want to stay at home with Daniel here.”

Space does not understand. Not even moving at all.

“That's all because I didn't want Asa to know that Daniel was her father.”

Space again did not react.

Before long the person she expected her presence to come out of the bathroom. Ashilla was instantly moved and straightened her body. Even with Space, the man was pecking at the door.

“I make tea,” said Ashilla while getting up and pretending not to care.

“Still.” Space walks near the table. Just like Ashilla, Angkasa also acts as if he does not care about his wife.

Ashilla came out of the room and went to Asa's room which happened to be next to her. “Asa,” call him while tapping. “Asa.” He repeated his call because the child did not answer. “Asa.” He began to panic and was afraid that Daniel might take Asa away, but Asa was old enough to reject Daniel's invitation, if that had happened.

Ashilla turned the door knob, she was stunned when she found the room empty. “Asa,” her screams in panic. He went inside and knocked on the bathroom door. There was no word from the inside, he opened the door and Asa was not in the bathroom.

Ashilla exited Asa's room and returned to her room. “Asa no,” cried Ashilla panicked in Space.

Angkasa frowned and placed the glass on the table. It was fortunate that he did not choke on hearing Ashilla's screams.

“As none,” said the wife panicked.

“Udah you looking?”

“In his room no.”

“Asa is not a baby who has to wait for you if you want to get out of the room,” said Angkasa calmly. “You should be happy because Asa can adapt quickly in this house.”

Ashilla shook her head. “I have to phone Mommy.” He then took the phone on the table.

“Find first, do not let Mother think I can not take care of him,” said Angkasa remained calm.

“Indeed you did not take care of him, from earlier you slept.”

“I'm not sleeping. When you go to the kitchen, I go to the bathroom, pee, my stomach is heartburn, Shill. Asa is already big, she does not need you to monitor her even if she wants to go to the kitchen to find something she wants to eat.”

“Ten years old, she's still too small,” staunch Ashilla.

“Jeez, you overdo it.” Space got up and asked Ashilla to sit down, but the woman refused.

“Asa is not your child, but you promised to love him like your own child yes, ‘kan?”

“Iya-iya.” Space takes a breath. “Start again, you doubt me,” muttered Angkasa. However, Ashilla did not hear it, the woman was canceling her call to Miranti and putting her phone back on the table.

“Now we find Asa below, who knows she's with Daniel.”

“No,” reject Ashilla quickly while turning her head and straightening her body. “He can't be with Daniel.”

“Astaghfirullahaladzim.” Space clucked as he rolled his eyes upwards, he then held Ashilla's hand as the woman was about to go outside. “Indeed why was he with Daniel?”

“Because ten years ago Daniel left me and Asa, now he can not go back and tell Asa everything,” said Ashilla consciously.

Both eyes of Space instantly smashed. His chest was like being hit by a heavy object, even he felt like he had been slapped. Finally he understood why last night Ashilla insisted on not wanting to go home with Daniel.
