Behind The Lies

Behind The Lies
Duka

“If father's time is up, death will still come, even though father's affairs in the world are not finished.” The sentence was said by Gusman a few days before his departure and now continues to ring in Aruna's ears. He couldn't control it until he kept himself locked up in his room.

The mourners slowly came, then went to change others. Although the body had been buried this afternoon, but who said condolences still came.

The grief in Miranti's heart did not subside, she remembered her quarrel with her father last night about Hasa. If only Hasa hadn't come her family wouldn't have been this mess.

“You lied to Papa,” said Ganjar in a stifled tone last night. His chest rumbled and he tried hard to control himself to stay strong to talk to Miranti.

“Honestly no use, Pa.”

“At least Papa knows what happened.”

“For what? Papa himself has lied a lot to us.”

“Don't bring Papa, it's about you.”

“Not, it's about our family, Pa. I wouldn't believe it if Papa didn't start it.”

“Beginning what do you mean?”

“Soal blessing Papa to Dewi and Gusman. I know it's not a matter of treasure, but–”

“Quite, Mir, this is Papa's business with the Goddess and her family, you do not need to interfere, if you want to accept the Goddess, please, forever Papa will not accept her in this family.”

Miranti stared silently at her father for a few seconds. “Why should I be born from this family?” sorry Miranti is upset.

That sentence is what makes Ganjar's condition worse. Miranti herself regretted saying it. He forgot that as a child he could not choose which family he was born in. Likewise with parents who cannot choose what kind of child they want to give birth to. This is just a test for each of them.

“Drink first, Bund,” said Angkasa while giving a glass of warm tea.

Miranti. “Please forgive Opa if you have ever been hurt by his words.”

Angkasa sat down and placed the glass in front of Miranti. “All that Opa did and Opa said it was the best he thought. We can't blame Opa, after all, everything has happened. I've forgiven her, Bund.”

Ashilla stopped wiping her wet eyes. He looked down at Asa who was sleeping on her lap while her legs extended over the carpet. Just like the others, Ashilla has her own problems with Ganjar. He was very sure that Ganjar never forgot Daniel's face.

That night when Daniel comes home to take responsibility, Ganjar refuses and instead evicts him. He also locked Ashilla in the room.

Ashilla can hear what Ganjar said to Daniel and she still remembers him today.

“You do not need to be responsible for anything because Ashilla will abort the baby.”

Ashilla decides to go to New York and live with Miranti. While Miranti and Gusman know that Ganjar sent Ashilla there because of shame because Ashilla was pregnant out of wedlock.

At that time only once Ganjar saw Daniel, it was natural that he had forgotten, especially Ganjar's memory function had decreased with age. Ashilla is only too sure that Ganjar still remembers her.

Space stared at Asa who was sleeping on Ashilla's lap. “Let me move Asa to her room.”

Ashilla looked up at her husband. “As we sleep together, Brother Edgar does not exist, pity he sleeps alone.”

Space nodded. He quickly held Asa and put her to sleep in the room.

Exactly at ten o'clock Faran to go to the room approached Aruna who had been locked away since, even after performing the funeral prayer Aruna did not come out again and also did not come to the tomb.

Ben and his family are also allowed to go home. While Marissa was still sitting next to Miranti, she hoped to meet Edgar tonight and offer her condolences to the man.

“Cha, want to go home now?” ask Mila.

“After Aunt,” replied Marissa. He didn't know Edgar wasn't coming home.

“Ya we have gone home first, be careful you yes, do not go home too late,” said Mila.

Before long, Iyash came and said his condolences to Ashilla and Angkasa. “Sorry can only come, suddenly there is a business that cannot be left behind. People home already on here, ‘kan?”

“Iya, already, thanks,” said Ashilla.

Iyash. He circulated his gaze and looked at Miranti. “I met your Mother first.”

“Iya.”

Iyash approached Miranti and sat down in front of the woman. “Tante,” call Iyash slowly. Miranti raised her face and looked at him. “I am sorry, may the deceased be accepted by his charity and his grave laid.”

“Aamiin,” replied Miranti slowly. “Still.”

Iyash. Meanwhile, Marissa had been staring at him and Iyash had not realized that. Until the moment he got up and accidentally looked at Marissa, the woman deliberately turned her face away. However, Iyash did not care, he pretended not to know and did not see him, although he himself wondered why the woman was there.

Iyash walks out, but he keeps his eyes out, hoping he sees Aruna that night. However, no, he instead saw the father who had just entered and did not see himself.

Iyash was curious about his father's presence that night, so he abandoned his intention to go home and instead went back inside the house. He looked at Hasa who was directly approaching at Miranti.

“Mir, I'm so sorry,” said Hasa concerned.

Miranti raised her face and looked at the man who had been the cause of her father's departure. “This is all because of you.”

Hasa cringing. “You mean I don't understand.”

“Cha,” call Miranti on the woman next to her.

“Iya, Bund.”

“Help Mommy to room.” Slowly Miranti got up aided by Marissa. His body felt lethargic because since morning he had not eaten.

“Mir, if this is my fault, I'm sorry,” said Hasa as he rose.

Miranti did not turn her head, but Marissa looked at Hasa.

“Miranti,” call Hasa while walking following Miranti.

From afar, Iyash was curious because his father had come for the woman his mother had told him about.

“Om, please Om don't be noisy,” said Angkasa who a few seconds ago was already next to Hasa. While Ashilla was just sculpting and even she did not help Miranti into the room.

Only Marissa helped Miranti to lay down her body in bed. He didn't say much and did what he was supposed to do, that is, pull the blanket and cover Miranti in a twinkle.

“Still, Cha,” said the pale-faced woman.

Marissa nodded. “Then, Icha back home yes, Bund.” However, Miranti instead held her hand.

“The man was his father Edgar,” Miranti said. She doesn't know that Marissa is Hasa's adopted daughter. The girl that Hasa went to school until graduation.

Marissa flabbergasted. “Kok can, Bund?” Instantly he thought that Miranti was Hasa's mistress.

“The story is long. Because of this Edgar left the house and Mother does not know where he is. You can, ‘kan, help Mommy find out where Edgar is.”

Marissa nodded while wetting her throat. He did not expect that Edgar was born to a legitimate family.

“Still, please keep this a secret,” ask Miranti.

Marissa nodded. He leaves and leaves Miranti's room. His mind was open, and when his curiosity was answered, this was the reason Edgar never offered a book to his father.
