Behind The Lies

Behind The Lies
The Last Book of Aruna Diary

Shortly after the departure of Space. Iqbal came and apologized for returning home from Sukabumi so that he could not accompany Iyash in that difficult time.

“Yash, thank goodness. I'm sorry, the KKN just finished. Want to go home responsibility.”

“Yes, Mas, it's okay.”

Iqbal sighed with a smile. He has received a call from Ira regarding Aruna's death and he is asked not to offer condolences in front of Iyash.

“Mas,” call Iyash slowly.

“Iya?” Iqbal slightly bent over.

“Can, ‘can go home to Surabaya?”

“For?” Immediately Iqbal frowned and straightened the body.

“Fetch Aruna. Bring him here I want to see.”

Iqbal looked over and looked at Ira.

“Mas?” persuade Iyash.

Iqbal breathed. “I just got home from Sukabumi.”

“No need to be now, Mom. I know Mas Iqbal is tired.”

“Hhhh .. thank God, I have not rested yet, Yash. From the terminal directly to here.” Iqbal looked at the items he had placed near the door. “You see, it's not souvenirs, but dirty clothes all.”

Ira smiled and felt relieved that Iqbal had managed to divert Iyash's wishes.

“Mas usually when?” ask Iyash again.

“Not yet, Yash, I can't think if it hasn't rest.”

“Then, I help her phone, I really want to talk to her.”

“Aruna, ‘kan don't have HP.”

“Call Grandma. Later let Grandma connect,” pinta Iyash again.

Iyash will continue to ask before his wish is granted.

“Later, Yash. Mas Iqbal is tired, you also need to rest,” said Ira.

“Iya, Iqbal also has not taken a shower, not comfortable, sticky,” complained Iqbal while pulling the tip of the shirt.

“You've eaten?” Ira asked her husband's sister's son.

“Numbered, Aunt.”

“Eat first. There is a rice box on the table from friends Iyash, you take one.”

Iqbal looked at the table. “Who knows if it's laper.” He then walked a few steps, then sat down on the sofa and opened a rice box containing chicken, tofu and tempe bacem, as well as sambal and lalapan.

“Mas, but Aruna knows, ‘right? I'm in the hospital?” ask Iyash to make sure.

“Actually Mas do not know too, ‘kan have not seen for a long time. But, I'm sure, he'll know, Dek. Grandma, ‘times story,” replied Iqbal while getting up and washing hands in the sink.

“Why doesn't he care? Why didn't he come look at me?”

“You, ‘kan know, Yash, Aruna is not used to go alone.”

“Why isn't her father looking at me?”

Iyash sighed and was forced to remain silent, though he still wanted to persuade Iqbal to call Aruna. Since yesterday he had asked his mother, but, Ira always said it was not good to be afraid to bother Grandma Alma.

“Ma, I want to chat together Mas Iqbal can?” ask Iyash.

“So?” ask Ira.

“Mama out first,” pinta Iyash.

“Indeed why if Mama knows?”

“I'm ashamed, Ma.”

“Too.” Ira breezed out.

“Mas,” call Iyash after his mother leaves.

“Hm?”

“I don't remember a few things, my head is like a hole,” lamented Iyash.

“Means?” Iqbal stared at him while still eating.

Iyash did not remember that he helped Aruna to get a scholarship in Jakarta. All she remembers is when Aruna said she couldn't dream too high for fear of being disappointed. That sentence Aruna said when in ****** school, at that time they were convicted of truancy. The rest Iyash forgets to remember some of the events, but he remembers expressing his feelings for Aruna under a tree on the side of the road, but Iyash does not remember whether Aruna received it at that time or not.

“I'm with Aruna dating, ‘kan?”

Iqbal.

“I forgot, but I remember that I was close to him. I also remember that I once said my feelings, but I can't remember whether he accepted me or rejected me like he rejected Mas Iqbal.”

“Why didn't you forget the last part?” snoring Iqbal. Yeah, why didn't Iyash forget that Aruna rejected Iqbal?

“Mas?”

“I don't know, Dek, you're on.”

“Totally?”

Of course Iqbal lied. He was asked to do it by Ira.

Iyash took a breath. “If I ask this, will he be angry?”

“You why the hell, think he continues, right said Aunt Ira, mending you rest so quickly healed and can go home soon. Do you stay here?”

Iyash.

***

For the past month Iyash has been doing walking therapy, consulting with psychologists and doing relaxation for peace of mind. True said his mother he had to recover because maybe Aruna did not want to see him weak like this. Now Iyash was able to walk back, though still staggered. However, his memory was still not recovered, so he still could not remember himself well.

Today Iyash had to leave for Spain because his test results were declared to be passed and he was accepted to study there. Iyash left for the family to the airport, he did not bring a camera like when he went to Surabaya because he forgot to save his camera, so he could only capture the moment with his cellphone camera.

On board Iyash opened a white box. Last night when he was looking for his camera he found the box in the barn and managed to open it by destroying the padlock of the box because he did not know the code.

Iyash was stunned to see a book in the box. He did not know who the book belonged to and he also did not know the writing in it. There was nothing special, even though he had read up to half of the book. In the diary, not a single person's name is mentioned including his name, which is written only the words “aku and dia” that show no one to whom. There are only pieces of the story that cannot be assembled.

“Weird book,” spiteful Iyash while continuing to open each sheet without reading it. However, for a moment his fingers stopped and he found a sentence at the end of the book.

“I'm sorry for the worst night we've been through. If you feel lost, that's best. Make your dreams come true, make your parents happy. I will do my best for my life too. Don't worry about me, my life would probably be much better without you, as well as your life.”

Iyash. However, still he did not feel that the word “Dia” or “Kamu” contained in the book was for him, while “aku” was Aruna the author of the book. Iyash lost his memory for a few moments, let alone understand the contents of the book, just remember him he could not.
