S2 \~ FORGOT

\~ I hugged Kalila tightly, clutching her longingly. I'm sorry I hid Arvin from you Kalila. You deserve to be happy, you deserve to forget. \~

•••

It had been a week that Kalila lay unconscious in a hospital bed. I could only be silent and clasped his hands which were starting to turn pale. I looked at her beautiful face that looked dry due to the coldness of the ICU room.

“Kalila, relax! I'm waiting for you, baby.” I kissed slowly the back of his hand.

I have recited various prayers, I say to the Owner of Life. Until my tears dry and throat raspy, still no answer. Kalila was still lying weak and unconscious.

3 days ago, the doctor came to see me and told me that there was swelling on the side of Kalila's brain that resulted in temporary unconsciousness. Doctors have not yet confirmed when Kalila will wake up. It could be tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, a week, or even a year. Depends on how Kalila's body is.

The doctor suggested that I keep him talking, giving him mild stimuli such as touch, sound, singing, or music.

I sometimes play guitar for him. Repeating all the songs we ever sang together.

Hear the love of my heart crumble

If there's no you

Accompany me 🎶

Hear my love calling your name

Every night

I thought of you 🎶

I'm deserted deserted deserted

If there is no you 🎶

I die dead dead dead dead

If you go 🎶

Listen to my beloved

Don't leave me

Can't afford it without you 🎶

Listen to my beloved

My life died for you

Please keep me |*** 🎶

“Build, La! Wake up!” I wiggled slowly her tiny body that looked even thinner.

My tears are melting unstoppably.

Why do you have to take care of me, Kalila?

Pips...

Pips...

Pips...

The sound of the monitor monitoring Kalila's vitals sounded louder, waking me up from my sleep.

“Kalila?!”

Kalila's eyes seemed to move slowly, her fingers began to respond to my grasp.

“Kalila, can you hear my voice?”

Finally after almost 10 days, Kalila began to respond and opened her eyes.

“Angga...” his voice sounded so soft when calling my name.

“I'm here, bae,” I kissed her wrist again, her tears just drenched my eyes.

“Where is this?”

“Hospital, La. Wait I'll call doctor.”

I rushed to call the doctor, before the doctor came and checked on Kalila. He checked his pulse, pupils, eye movement response, hearing, to the nerves of his hands and feet. Thank goodness Kalila is fine.

“Please slow down, yes. Patients are still too weak.”

“Good, doctor. Thank you, yes.”

“Sama-sama.”

Finally I could breathe a sigh of relief, Kalila was fine, and she was awake.

“How do you feel, La?” my many.

“Good, Ngga.” her smile knot.

“You want to drink?”

“Mau.”

“This, slowly.”

Kalila turned her head back, she glared in various directions before finally asking me.

“Where are Papa and My Mom, Ngga?”

“Hah?” I was shocked to hear the question, Papa and Mamanyakan had already died two years ago.

“Kalila? What do you mean?”

“Why, Ngga?”

“Papa and Mama died two years ago,” I said doubtfully.

“WHAT?? You lied?” accuse Kalila.

“Kalila??? Did you forget everything?”

“Lupa?”

“What was the last time you remembered, La?” I asked in panic.

“Last I remember we went to the park and..., AKH!!! My head hurts!!!! It hurts!!” Kalla held his head with both hands.

“Kalila?!” pekiku panicked.

“Doctor!! Sister!!” I called the medics on guard.

Doctors and nurses came and helped Kalila get back to rest. The doctor finally gave back a sedative injection so that Kalila returned to rest.

“Why did he forget everything, Doc?”

“Maybe the collision caused amnesia, Mr.”

“Amnesia?”

“Yes, temporary memory loss after the trauma, sir. The clash is quite severe, and perhaps the psychic condition of the patient before the accident also affects his memory.”

“So?”

“So indirectly his brain erases the bad memories that happened lately.”

“So...,” I nod my chin a sign of understanding.

Kalila must have been devastated by Arvin's behavior lately. So Kalila indirectly forgot about Arvin.

Well, if you forget about Arvin, it will make Kalila's life better. I'll help him forget about the man.

•••

A month has passed, Kalila is able to go home now. I made her accept her parents' death and told her that we were dating after I left the country.

Kalila runs a cafe with me, Melody, and Caca. The two of them have also agreed to help me erase the memories of Arvin in Kalila's life.

“You want to rest, La?” I dropped the suitcase upon arrival at Kalila's apartment.

“So I stayed here all this time?” Kalila observed her own apartment in astonishment.

“Iya, La.” I hugged him from behind.

“Ah, I didn't expect me to live independently all this time.”

“Yes, you're a great woman.”

“Angga, thank you, yes, it has always been there for me.”

I fell silent, I was not the man who had always been there for Kalila all this time. I was present when he found another man. Even though I knew that man was a jerk, it still felt claustrophobic having to admit my absence in his life.

“I'll make you happy, La.”

I hugged Kalila tightly, clutching her longingly. I'm sorry I hid Arvin from you Kalila. You deserve to be happy, you deserve to forget.

“I love you, bae.” I kissed the lips of ranum Kalila softly and deeply.

“Thank you, Angga, for loving me.”
