Early in the morning the palace meeting room was already filled with nobles and palace officials. A nonstop smile flung across Viscount August's lips. Viscount August was confident that this morning he would get some very good news.
The members of the meeting started to get restless as it had been more than an hour they waited, but Queen Roseline had not yet come to enter the room and the King's throne still remained empty. Duke Sullivan remained calm even though his heart was deeply worried about his daughter's circumstances.
Baroness Yolanda, curious about Queen Roseline's condition, orders one of her servants to sneak inside the queen's palace and find out what has happened there. However, the servant returned empty-handed. The Queen's Palace remained calm and Queen Roseline was still in good health. Baroness Yolanda was extremely upset and vented her frustration to her servant by beating him mercilessly.
"It looks like Her Majesty the Queen cannot attend today. It's been over an hour since we waited, the Queen hasn't come yet." The Viscount August.
"Has something happened to the Queen?" The other nobles.
The nobles and palace officials began to gossip and stir in the meeting room.
"Her Majesty the Queen and Her Majesty the Queen Mother entered the room."
The meeting room instantly became silent upon hearing the cries of the guards. Viscount August widened his eyes in disbelief as he saw Queen Roseline and Empress Dowager Helene entering the room in unison. They all bowed to pay their respects.
"Dam. Turns out the hit man failed. I hope he drinks poison and doesn't open his mouth." Viscount August hardened his jaw while clenching his hand tightly.
"I'm sorry to have arrived late at today's meeting, because I had to pick up Her Majesty the Queen Mother first and go to the King's palace to visit His Majesty the King." Queen Roseline.
"We understand Your Majesty, and we are also glad that Her Majesty the Queen can be present at today's meeting." Viscount August said as he forced his smile.
"Indeed what had happened until the Viscount thought the Queen would not attend this meeting?" Ask Queen Mother Helene.
Viscount August fluttered right away, yet he tried to remain calm.
"I mean Your Majesty?" Viscount August was slightly stammered.
Queen Roseline pursed her lips at Viscount August's expression.
"Suri's mother just asked Viscount August, you don't have to be nervous like that." The Queen of Roseline.
"Today the prisoners convicted of wrongdoing and fraud will be taken to the royal court for trial." Queen Roseline.
"Although Your Majesty, can not the new royal court be carried out with the permission and will of His Majesty the King?" Ask one of the nobles.
"Wouldn't the Queen be His Majesty's successor during the King's illness. All the King's rights and duties will be bestowed into the Queen's hands, as the current ruler of the Kingdom of Cardania and holder of the King's seal." Said Suri Helene's Mother.
"But still Her Majesty the Queen Mother, the Queen cannot make a decision at will. The Queen must obtain a recommendation or mandate directly from His Majesty the King." Sahut other nobles and had the support of the palace officials.
Empress Dowager Helene was visibly infuriated as they attempted to resist Queen Roseline's orders.
"What do you think, Duke Sullivan? Duke Sullivan is one of the nobles who is above our position." Viscount August asked with a cynical smile.
"Please, Your Majesty the Queen Mother, what the nobles and court officials have said is true. Although the Queen is currently taking over the King's position, it is temporary. The Queen must obtain a mandate from Her Majesty the King first if she is to open a court of court." Duke Sullivan.
Queen Roseline smiled faintly. He knew that the nobles deliberately used his father to resist the opening of the palace court. Marquess Filan entered the room carrying a scroll of paper.
"Honor the servants of Her Majesty the Queen and Her Majesty the Queen Mother. I came here to deliver a message from His Majesty the King." The Marquess Filan.
Everything was shocked and widened their eyes, except for Queen Roseline and Queen Mother Helene.
"Has the condition of His Majesty the King improved, Marquess?" Ask Count Isak, Duke Sullivan's best friend.
"True Count Isak. His Majesty the King has already begun to improve and can speak again." Answer Marquess Filan.
The nobles and palace officials thanked him with happy faces. However there were some people who showed their fake smiles upon hearing this happy news, especially Viscount August who was seen trying to hide his annoyance.
"And I have come here to convey the command of His Majesty the King."
Marquess Filan opened the scroll in her hand.
"I give my mandate to the Queen as my temporary successor to open a court of law and try the nobles and officials who have been found guilty. All the orders given by the Queen are the same orders from me. If anyone refuses the Queen's orders, it is the same as refusing the King's orders and will be considered a traitor."
The nobles and palace officials immediately exclaimed. "We accept all the orders of His Majesty the King."
The court of the palace was soon held. The royal prisoners were immediately tried and given punishments that amounted to their crimes. The Minister of Commerce received a 30-year prison sentence and was removed from office and stripped of the royal title he had been given. His property was confiscated and his family exiled to exile in a remote area located in the northern region of the Kingdom of Cardania.
Baroness Yolanda who heard the news of King Alec's recovery grew angry and upset. Again and again the plans he had devised failed miserably. Unlike the Baroness Yolanda, Countess Sarah was very happy when she heard the happy news about the recovery of King Alec. Without a second thought, Countess Sarah ran straight to the king's palace and hoped to meet King Alec whom she longed for so much.
The arrival of Countess Sarah to the king's court received the attention of the nobles who saw it. The nobles were impressed by Countess Sarah's attitude which showed her concern for King Alec. However, Countess Sarah must swallow the disappointment because the guards still forbid her to meet with King Alec.
"Look how attentive Countess Sarah is to Her Majesty the King. He always showed his care and affection for the King." Praise one of the nobles, Count Emilio.
"I am grateful Your Majesty the King is as healthy as ever. And I also hope that His Majesty the King will soon marry Countess Sarah. Countess Sarah was a good and qualified noblewoman. His Majesty the King will later be able to obtain the descendants and successors of the royal throne from him." Added.
"Duke Sullivan." The King of Alec.
"Sincerely Your Majesty. May Your Majesty always be healthy and given a long life." Said Duke Sullivan while saluting.
"Sit down Duke."
Duke Sullivan instead sat down at King Alec's command, but immediately knelt down.
"What are you doing, Duke Sullivan?" King Alec did not understand.
"Slamb please forgive Your Majesty. I came here as a father. I beg Your Majesty the King to release my servant's daughter, Roseline from your marriage." Please Duke Sullivan.
"Please!"
"How dare you ask for such a thing. Your daughter has become my wife and queen of this kingdom. Forever she will be my wife and you can't just break our sacred relationship."
King Alec was shocked and furious.
"But His Majesty the King does not love the servant's daughter. And soon, His Majesty will marry Countess Sarah. Servant knows if Countess Sarah has a heart for Her Majesty the King. The nobles are also very supportive of your wedding plans. The servant will not be able to see the suffering of the servant's daughter who has to share her husband with another woman."
"Duke Sullivan!" King Alec's face turned red.
"Hamba willingly lost the title and treasure of the servant. The servant will take the servant's family away from this kingdom." Duke Sullivan said in tears.
"Enough Duke Sullivan. Awake." Pinta King Alec in a lower tone.
Duke Sullivan remained silent.
"Well if you don't want to get up, then I'll kneel before you."
Duke Sullivan flinched and looked at King Alec. Duke Sullivan immediately woke up when he saw King Alec was about to descend from his place.
"Servant please don't do that, Your Majesty."
King Alec let out a long breath.
"Listen to my good words, Duke Sullivan. Roseline is my wife and will forever be my wife. And I will never remarry, be it Countess Sarah or any woman. Fuck those nobles. I am the ruler of the kingdom of Cardania, and they have no right to rule my life. Only your daughter, Roseline, will be my only companion."
Duke Sullivan looked at King Alec in disbelief.
"I admit I was not nice to him and could not be a good husband to him. But I promise from now on I will try to make your daughter happy. I will treat your daughter as the wife she should be. I will always give my heart to your daughter, Roseline." King Alec.
"But Roseline's love for Her Majesty has disappeared from my daughter's heart." Duke Sullivan.
"I knew. And I'll grow it again, no matter how long it takes me. Therefore, I beg you not to ask me to return Roseline to you Duke. I love your daughter and I don't want to lose your daughter."
Duke Sullivan saw sincerity in King Alec's eyes. Duke Sullivan could only hope that King Alec would fulfill all his words to make his daughter happy. But Duke Sullivan promised himself that if King Alec reneged on his words, Duke Sullivan would take Queen Roseline away from King Alec despite his life being at stake.
