Chapter 40. Punishment

King Alec and Queen Roseline enter the courtroom. The guards brought in Countess Sarah and Baron Joseph with their hands tied. Baron Joseph stiffened his jaw. In his heart he lamented his foolishness which slipped into the king's palace and took the wine of King Alec.

"Br*ngs! Had I not drunk Alec's wine, I wouldn't have gotten drunk and lost control." The curse in the heart.

"Baron Joseph and Countess Sarah, both of you are charged with committing a grave mistake by engaging in illicit relations in the King's chambers." Said Marquess Filan loudly.

"That's not true, Sire. I swear I was framed. The servant begged His Majesty to believe in the servant. A servant cannot do such a bad thing." Countess Sarah said with a face that was soft and tearful.

"That's right, Sire. The servant was also framed. The servant does not know how the servant could be in the chamber of the Sire. I beg for justice, Sire." Baron Joseph pleaded.

"What the son of the servant said is true, Sire. The son of a servant cannot do such a despicable thing." Baroness Yolanda defended her son.

"How could you two be framed? And who did it?" Asked King Alec coldly.

Countess Sarah and Baron Joseph looked at each other.

"Do you want to slander my Queen again?" Added.

Count Donovan came forward and knelt before the King and Queen.

"Hamba beg your Majesty, release the daughter of the servant. I promised I'd find out who framed him."

"Are you sure?" King Alec asked with his sharp gaze made Count Donovan's body tremble.

Marquess Andry and General Azel brought in two soldiers as well as a man dressed and a black mask. They immediately saluted. Countess Sarah and Baron Joseph were shocked and looked unsettled.

"They are soldiers who stand guard in the king's palace, Your Majesty. And both were found unconscious last night. They'll testify." Report Marquess Andry.

"Sincerely, Sire."

"Tell me what you know about last night and why you two passed out?" Ask King Alec.

"At our vigil last night, Countess Sarah came to the king's palace and forced her to go inside. But we forbid and detain him, according to His commandment that no one wants to disturb."

"When we were still fighting with Countess Sarah, suddenly someone hit us on the nape of our back neck so we were unconscious."

Countess Sarah squeezed her dress firmly with cold sweat that began to drench her paled face. Countess Sarah was really afraid that King Alec would punish her. So did Baron Joseph. If his men give honest testimony, then his life is also in danger.

"And it was this man who had made these two soldiers faint, Your Majesty. The shadow warrior who had managed to catch him last night." General Azel said as he opened the man's face.

The man stared at Baron Joseph, but Baron Joseph turned his gaze. King Alec and Queen Roseline smiled faintly.

"Who are you? And what's your relationship with Countess Sarah?" Ask King Alec.

"I am a nobody and I have nothing to do with Countess Sarah. I just helped him get inside the king's palace so he could meet the King of this kingdom." Answer the man casually.

"How dare you be disrespectful to His Majesty!" The Marquess Filan.

The man looked at Marquess Filan while pursing his lips. The same was done by Baron Joseph and Baroness Yolanda.

"Is it really just like that?" Ask King Alec.

The man did not answer and just shrugged his shoulders.

"It seems you're not afraid of death." King Alec. "But what if they're dead?"

Felix brought in a woman with two twin boys who were in her arms. The man in black clothes instantly widened his eyes.

"Damn! How could they be found? Didn't my men kidnap them before." Inner Baron Joseph while clenching his hands.

"Now swear on their lives, if what you said was true." Challenge King Alec.

The man immediately knelt before King Alec.

"Please don't hurt them, Sire." Said the man.

King Alec laughed softly. "Where did your arrogance go?"

"Baginda may execute the servant, but I beg you to release the servant's family." Please that man.

"I will punish you or not depending on your answer, including their freedom. I gave you one chance to tell you the truth, Isak."

The man named Isaac raised his face, and set his eyes on Baron Joseph.

"Hamba was one of the hired men of Baron Joseph and Baroness Yolanda. They paid the servants to do everything they commanded, including helping Countess Sarah to enter the king's palace. They teamed up to trap His Majesty to sleep with Countess Sarah." Speak Isak.

"Take it easy, Baroness Yolanda. You should not raise your voice before His Majesty the King and Queen." Tegur Suri Helene's.

Baroness Yolanda was instantly silent as her hands squeezed her dress very tightly.

"What's the evidence that you're Baroness Yolanda and Baron Joseph's man?" Ask Queen Roseline.

Isak took out a bag of gold coins and a plaque symbolizing the House of Baron Joseph. Baroness Yolanda and Baron Joseph could not dwell anymore.

"Do you really not know this man?" King Alec asked Baron Joseph and Baroness Yolanda who looked puzzled.

"What is your real purpose?" King Alec's Jerk.

Baroness Yolanda looked at King Alec and smiled cynically. "We just want to get our rights back."

"Which are you?" Ask Queen Mother Helene.

"Our rights as members of the royal family. The late King Arthur raised me to be a son and gave me the same rights as the rest of the kingdom. But ever since the throne of the kingdom was taken over by King Uther, you have taken all that is rightfully mine that King Arthur has given." Baroness Yolanda replied with a hateful look.

"We have never taken away the rights that have been given to you. But you yourself have abused all the good of King Arthur all this time. You're just an adopted son, but you're expecting the same rights as the successor to this kingdom. Even though you and your family do not live in the palace, we still meet all the needs and well-being of your lives. You should look back and remember where you came from. You're like a dick pining for the moon. You're too greedy, Yolanda." Read Queen Helene's Mother.

"You!" Hardik Baroness Yolanda's.

"How dare you yell at the Queen Mother!"

"Then, what will the King do to me?" Baroness Yolanda asked with a cynical smile.

"Doing the accusation you've been saying." King Alec answered making Baroness Yolanda's smile fade away.

"You guys proved to be working together to set me up. But you have entered into your own trap. From now on I revoke the titles of nobility of Baroness Yolanda, Baron Joseph, Count Donovan and Countess Sarah. All your property and assets in the Kingdom of Cardania will be taken over and will be distributed to the people of Cardania who are still in short supply. I will not execute you, but I will send you out of my kingdom and throw you into exile."

The four of them immediately widened their eyes. Baroness Yolanda's body instantly slumped to the floor. Likewise, Count Donovan immediately drowned, knowing all the treasures he had collected would be confiscated and distributed to the commoners.

"And before you come out of this kingdom, you will get a reward of 100 lashes." Firmly King Alec while grinning.

King Alec's decision is inviolable. Duke Darian did not dare to speak up and give a defense to his brother-in-law and nephew. Duke Darian was afraid that he would be dragged along so that his peerage would be revoked and thrown into exile.

The four prisoners were immediately taken to the dungeon to get 100 lashes. Isak, who has been honest and admitted his guilt, received a sentence of 50 lashes and a prison sentence of 1 month.
