Chapter 56. King Alec's Lunch

Queen Roseline sat pensively staring out the window of her room.

"Your Majesty, I beg you to eat a little. Your Majesty's fever just came down." Persuade Marie while carrying a bowl of warm porridge in her hand.

"Let's put it on the table, Marie. I'll eat it." Answer Queen Roseline.

"Do you still not want to eat, if your father pleads?"

Queen Roseline was shocked and stared at the door. Duke Sullivan was standing there.

"Dad." Queen Roseline exclaimed with a smile and stood up straight away.

Duke Sullivan walked up to him.

"Yes my dear daughter, your father has come. I heard that my daughter is sick and does not want to eat. My heart is so sad to hear it." Duke Sullivan.

"I'm sorry for making you sad." Said Queen Roseline.

Duke Sullivan immediately hugged his daughter while holding back a cry.

"Sit. I'll bribe you. Poor Marie's been working hard on making this porridge for you."

Duke Sullivan took the porridge from Marie's hand and fed it to Queen Roseline's mouth. Marie left father and son both. Queen Roseline ate the porridge until it ran out, then drank the medicine.

"This is dad's daughter."

"Thank you very much, Dad." Queen Roseline said with a happy smile.

"How is your relationship with His Majesty?" Duke Sullivan's question made the smile on Queen Roseline's face disappear.

Queen Roseline was silent for a moment. "It looks like His Majesty still can't accept all this, Father."

Queen Roseline was grateful that the clothes she was wearing today covered all the bruises left by King Alec last night. Queen Roseline doesn't want to make Duke Sullivan sad.

Duke Sullivan let out a long sigh. "Dad heard today His Majesty invited all the daughters of the high-titled nobility to have lunch with His Majesty. In addition, His Majesty also invited Miss Julia Arnof, the daughter of the noble Arnof as well as the son of the good friend of Queen Mother Helene who had arrived at the palace since yesterday."

"The King invited me to come, but I refused him on the grounds of illness. It seems like His Majesty will choose a new future Queen, perhaps even with her concubines." Said Queen Roseline with a bland smile.

The pain and suffering in the eyes of Queen Roseline.

"Dad's gonna try to get you out of here, Alice. I will not let His Majesty hurt you again. It is inappropriate for His Majesty to bestow all this upon you, for you are innocent. It has all become the fate."

"Why do you call her Alice, Duke Sullivan?"

Queen Roseline and Duke Sullivan flinched listening to the voice of Empress Dowager Helene who had been standing in the doorway. The two immediately stood up and saluted.

"Mother Suri."

Empress Dowager Helene immediately headed for the Queen's palace after hearing that her beloved daughter-in-law had fallen ill.

"You haven't answered my question, Duke. Why do you call Seline Alice?" Read Queen Helene's Mother.

Queen Roseline and Duke Sullivan looked at each other.

"Please sit down, Your Majesty. I'll explain everything." Queen Roseline.

Queen Roseline tells her true identity to Queen Mother Helene, that her body does belong to Queen Roseline but her true soul is Alice who comes from another world. At first Queen Mother Helene could not believe it. But after Duke Sullivan convinced him himself, Empress Dowager Helene only believed. After gaining recognition from Queen Roseline (Alice), Queen Mother Helene leaves the Queen's palace with a slightly limp step.

"Honor, Your Majesty."

Marquess Andry faced King Alec who was busy in his study.

"Say Marquess Andry, what news do you have." King Alec said as he continued to write.

"Her Majesty the Queen refused to have lunch with Her Majesty, because the Queen was ill. Last night the Queen had a fever and fell unconscious." Report Marquess Andry.

"Right now Duke Sullivan is at the Queen's palace. Lord Duke immediately came, after hearing the news of Her pain Her Majesty the Queen." The Marquess Andry.

Marquess Filan looked towards King Alec to find out the reaction of his lord.

"If the Queen can't come, that's fine. Just make sure all the princesses of the nobles come to lunch with me." Answer King Alec.

Marquess Filan and Marquess Andry widened their eyes, then looked at each other. There was not the slightest worry from the look on King Alec's face.

"Good, Sire. I'll make sure they come to lunch with you."

Marquess Andry immediately withdrew and left King Alec's room.

"Have you done everything I told you to do, Filan?" Ask King Alec.

"She's Sire. Everything will go according to His will." Answer Marquess Filan.

The princesses of nobility already filled the palace dining room, not least Miss Julia Arnof. They dressed up as beautifully as possible to attract the attention of King Alec. News of the estrangement of King Alec and Queen Roseline has spread widely. They were sure, if at this time His Majesty invited them to lunch together to choose the King's new wife.

King Alec entered the dining room with his dashing and charismatic aura. All the women immediately stood up and saluted. King Alec occupied his seat and followed the noble princesses sitting back in his place. Julia presumptuously sat on the chair commonly occupied by Queen Roseline while smiling arrogantly making the other noble princesses feel annoyed.

The waiters immediately served food on the table.

"Allow the servant who serves His Majesty." Julia said as she spread her smile.

King Alec did not reply, only nodding. With a happy heart, Julia immediately filled King Alec's plate with food while smiling cynically towards the women who were there. The princesses of the nobility grew increasingly furious, not the least of them squeezing her own dress and swearing in their hearts to vent their irritation.

"Please curse me. But don't expect you to be in a higher position than me. The highest position beside His Majesty will be mine. Anyone I'll get rid of, including the useless queen." Julia's inner voice while pursing her lips.

King Alec did not make a sound at the lunch banquet, even King Alec ate his food reluctantly. His appetite evaporated when he saw the women trying to be as elegant as possible when eating their food. After he finished eating, King Alec immediately stood up. However, before leaving King Alec said something.

"I'd like to invite Miss Julia and Mr. Arnof to dinner at the King's palace." Said King Alec flat.

"Really Sire? I am honored to receive an invitation from your Majesty. Servant and father of servant thank you immeasurably, Sire." Julia said with a glowing face.

King Alec nodded, then stepped away leaving the dining room. The noble princesses whispered to each other. They were very jealous of Julia.

"It's very clear, no, if His Majesty is only interested in me. The proof is that His Majesty invited me and my father specifically to have dinner with him. It's best to throw away your hopes of being with His Majesty, because you're not worth me." Julia said with her pomp.
