Dave's Mother's Warning

“Tok...Tok...” There was a knock at the door in Jeslyn's room.

“Included,” shouted Jeslyn.

A nurse came in a hurry. “Sorry to interrupt, Doc,” said Mia with a panicked face.

Jeslyn raised his head. “What's up?”

“That Doc, the owner of this hospital wants to meet with Doctor.”

Jeslyn's forehead shriveled. During his time at the hospital, Jeslyn never met the owner of the hospital because no one knew who the owner was. “What problems are there?”

“I don't know Doc either. Mr. Adnan asked me to tell the doctor. Doctor Jeslyn asked to see them in his room.” Adnan is the head of the hospital where Jeslyn works.

Jeslyn nodded. “Good. Thank you Mia. I'll be gone in a minute.” Jeslyn began tidying up her desk before going to see the owner of the hospital.

“Good Doc, I'll excuse you.” Mia walked out after seeing Jeslyn nod.

Jeslyn put on her doctor's suit and walked into the hospital's headroom. He knocked on Adnan's door before entering. “Log.” Sound from within.

Jeslyn opened the door slowly, Jeslyn saw that the Head of the Hospital was talking to a middle-aged woman. Jeslyn could not see it because the woman was turning her back. Seeing Jeslyn enter and standing not far from the door, the Head of the Hospital immediately greeted him.

“You've arrived?” ask Adnan. Head of the Hospital where Jeslyn works.

The middle-aged woman immediately turned her head. “Mama,” said Jeslyn quietly without being heard by them. She was very surprised to learn that her mother-in-law was in the room.

“Sit,” said Adnan let Jeslyn sit down. Jeslyn nodded and sat down at her mother-in-law. “This is Mrs Westi, the mother of the owner of this hospital,” Adnan said introducing Westi to Jeslyn.

Jeslyn is shocked to hear that the owner of the hospital is Dave, her husband. Dave never said anything. Secretly, Jeslyn smiled. In his heart he felt like a fool. She doesn't even know anything about her husband.

“Good afternoon Madam, I'm Jeslyn.” Jeslyn knew that her identity should not be known to the public so she pretended not to know her mother-in-law.

Westi just nodded. He then glanced at Adnan. “Adnan, please leave us both.”

Adnan nodded. “I'm sorry.” He then walked out of his room.

“Are you busy?” ask Dave's mom when Adnan's out.

“No, what's Mama looking for me?”

“What did you do to my son that he dared to fight me?" Dave's mother immediately shot Jeslyn with the core question.

“I don't understand Mama.”

“Dave ignored Felicia. He wouldn't even touch his own wife. When I rebuked him, he ignored my words and ignored my words. He dared to threaten me just to protect and defend you. Have you brainwashed my son so he can be rude to me?”

Jeslyn was silent for a moment. He didn't think Dave could do that. He thought Dave didn't care about him all this time. “Maa.. I never told Dave to do it all. I didn't even know that Dave was acting that way towards Mama.”

Dave's mother laughed cynically. “If you didn't do it then who else? Dave always obeyed my words. He never defied me.”

“I don't know Ma either. My relationship with Dave lately has been bad. Mama should know what caused it.”

“Do you now blame me for me telling Dave to remarry?”

“That's not what I mean, Ma. I've accepted that Dave is remarried. I never interfere with their problems either. The reason why Dave changed, Mama can directly ask Dave.”

Jeslyn was trying to quell his anger. He's not done thinking with Dave's mom. She may have asked him to talk to her husband to touch another woman, even if it was his wife.

“Ma, if Dave doesn't listen to my mom, how could he listen to me? My contact with Dave is not good, Ma. I think Mama also knows, how Dave's attitude towards me first.”

Jeslyn thinks Dave's mother's current request doesn't make sense. He felt that Dave's mother deliberately wanted to make him quarrel with Dave. “Sorry I can't help Mama. Better mama asks Felicia to try herself to melt Dave's heart,” continued Jeslyn again.

“Are you afraid that Dave will divorce you if Dave has a child with Felicia? Is that why you don't want to help mama?”

Jeslyn exhaled his breath violently. “Ma..with me agreeing to Dave remarry Felicia, that means I'm ready until they have a child. I don't mind Dave divorcing me, Ma. This time, it's not me who won't divorce, but Dave who won't.”

Jeslyn tries to speak politely to Dave, even though he is currently angry.

“Then don't let Dave sleep with you. Let her sleep in Felicia's room so they have plenty of time for the two.”

“Ma, Dave is my husband too. I can't possibly ban her if she wants to sleep with me. I can't possibly ignore it.”

“Why are you so stubborn? It's free for me to talk to you," Dave's mother said angrily.

"I'm sorry, Ma. I don't want to help Mom. I just can't interfere with Dave and Felicia. Let them solve their own problems."

"You are a useless son-in-law. You don't get a big head 'cause Dave's on your side now. You'll be kicked out by Dave when Felicia manages to deliver a child for him" Dave's mother said loudly.

"Ma, what is my fault with you that you hate me so much? I've never denied Mama before. I've never made a mistake either, but why do you keep cornering and always blaming me?"

Jeslyn had wanted to ask Dave's mother this question for a long time, but had no courage at all. Seeing the attitude of Dave's mother who continues to blame him, Jeslyn begins to feel tired.

"Your fault is that you accepted the marriage arranged by papa Dave. You should have refused to marry my son. You've ruined a plan I've been putting together for Dave for a long time."

"Ma, I accepted it because I love Dave. I love her so much. Can't you accept me as your daughter-in-law too?"

"Didn't I say I'd accept you if you managed to give me a grandchild, but it doesn't happen anymore. Felicia can give it to me."

"I'm sorry Ma can't give you what you want. If you don't want me anymore, you can ask Dave to divorce me" Jeslyn said with a sad face.

"I've tried to talk to Dave before, but he refused. He said he'd never divorce you."

"If Mama can't convince Dave to divorce me. There is no other way but to accept me. If Dave wants to fight for me, there's no reason for me to divorce him."

"You don't dream. I won't accept you until anytime. You better stay away from Dave. Otherwise, I'll separate you in my own way."

Dave's mother immediately left Jeslyn with a face full of anger.

"If you don't want me to fight with Dave. Don't ever tell him I came to see you. She would have been so mad at me if she had known it" Dave's mother said before closing the door.

Dave's mother was afraid that Dave would be furious if he knew he was coming to see Jeslyn, especially Dave had also warned him not to disturb Jeslyn.

Dave's mother was forced to meet Jeslyn out of desperation. Felicia told me all about Dave's treatment of her. Dave's mother begins to worry about her son and Felicia's relationship not going well.

After the departure of Dave's mother, Jeslyn tries to calm her feelings. He doesn't think Dave's mother will come to him immediately to warn him without Dave's knowledge.
