ACT 6: Chapter 15 - A Little Determination
"Rin! Ren! Awake up!!"
"THE REN!!" the sound of screaming grew louder, inside a small room with several people inside.
There were some small ornaments, but the most numerous were medical equipment, some aids, and most of all, cloth like bandages that looked rough, but were used to bandage wounds.
In the middle of the room was a mattress, and a figure lying on the bed.
It was Ren, who was receiving treatment from the people around him.
His body was covered with wounds, which were already wrapped in cloth that looked like bandages. But, the wound looked extremely severe, when even healing magic could only heal Ren's body bit by bit. After all, it could still heal Ren, so it seemed like it was progress.
"Dad! What happened to Ren? You said you'd explain later!!" edna shouted with worry.
Previously, they managed to find Ren, who was lying like a piece of trash in the middle of a magic circle that seemed to imprint on the ground of the city square.
The people who saw him were fixated, staring at Ren in disbelief, because they already knew, what happened to Ren just by looking at him. But, Edna who did not understand could only get angry, and asked her father and the others to help Ren immediately.
As a result, now Ren is being treated by healing magic while being surrounded by people.
"Uhm. Alright. I've never told you that, have I? This is a sign when a person uses too much magic on his or her body. It made his body not strong, and eventually the magic hurt itself." Roy explained.
"It's impossible...." Edna shut her mouth, not believing.
Edna had known all along that Ren had extraordinary abilities. But he did not know, that Ren had been suffering like that all along.
"So all this time Ren felt like that?" just imagining it, makes Edna feel guilty for not being able to help what.
"That's how it is. That is usually a very rare case, because our bodies are used to the usual amount of magic. But, this seems different."
"The amount of magic in Ren's body is incredible, it can't even be compared to the amount of magic we all have. Not only that, he just released magic power that many times folds his own magic power. Plus, he's a Human."
"The human body from the beginning was unable to manage magic with such immense power, making his body unable to survive. He can still breathe is a miracle." Roy explained at length.
Edna heard it was just silence, unable to say anything.
Likewise with people who are around, looking down with frustrated facial expressions, knowing the people they usually scorn actually save them in a way that they might not even achieve.
"Mr Roy!!" a small cry sounded from behind them, as the figure lying there began to slowly move his hands and mouth.
"Rin?! Are you that? Are you awake?!" roy asked with a face that looked very worried. Not only that, Edna also immediately followed Roy to meet Ren in another part.
"Hmmmmhh.." there was a slow growl from Ren who gradually opened his eyes.
"OH!!" Ren coughed loudly, spitting out blood when he first woke up, making everyone surprised to see him. But, Ren himself immediately shook his head, and wiped the blood that came out of his mouth using his own hands.
"Ma?!!" Edna again called out to Ren, who still looked confused.
Ren himself, just looking around, tried to understand what had happened. But after a few seconds, he took a breath, and seemed to give up.
"Ahh so. I passed out and you saved me, didn't you? Seems like. How else, no matter how strong my intention is, my body will not be able to withstand all that magic power. Then...." Ren started to stand up, and walked slowly towards the window.
He left the person gaping, seeing Ren just saying flat like he didn't feel anything.
All were stunned, unable to say a word. In fact, his body looks really badly injured. Edna can also only look back and forth between Ren and her already abandoned mattress.
Until Edna's consciousness returns....
"HEY!! THE REN!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?! You're still sick, aren't you?! What did you do to dare to walk the street so easily like that?!!" edna cries hysterically, while trying to drag Ren back.But, Edna is confused because Ren's body is full of bandages, how she must hold on to Ren so as not to hurt Ren herself.
As a result, Edna could only hinder Ren from carefully touching her. It looked funny when Edna did it, so Ren didn't stop her.
Ren was silent, looking at the window. He saw that barrier he made, and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Yeah, however the barrier is already formed, so I can calm down a bit now." said Ren slowly, looking around, smiling.
Great desire to see Childe and Syila to make sure they are okay, but Ren knows that the state of the city is still not a hundred percent safe.
"Hey, Ren.." after a moment of silence, Roy spoke.
"Whatis that? What attacked us? And why are you insisting like that to make such an enormous barrier, no..." Roy shook his head, then looked towards Ren.
"What is all this?!" ask Roy.
As a Guild Master, or someone most powerful in the city, not knowing anything really bothered Roy. Moreover, this concerns the security of his city, and the security of his family. Obviously, Roy can't just shut up and look at Ren for granted.
Meanwhile, Ren looks into Roy's eyes, which show a strong desire and determination and anger buried within.
("Huh... My father was an adventurer, right? I wanted to honor her wishes, but this was a matter concerning cults.") Ren's heart was having a debate.
("I already know, and feel that being related to a cult, or even just knowing its existence is already very dangerous. And to be honest, I don't want to tell anyone else.") thought Ren again.
He was really afraid to tell Roy, because Roy was reluctant or others involved in something so dark.
"Sorry, but..." Ren started to open his mouth, making everyone hold their breath.
"It's good if you don't know what's going on." said Ren, looking down miserably. He doesn't know what to do. Disappointed faces soon formed, but not with Roy. Determination still radiated in his eyes, showing no sign of giving up.
"Why, Ren?!! Don't you trust us? Are our powers so weak that you can't believe it?!!" ask Roy to press Ren.
"I-that's.." whispered Ren slowly.
In terms of strength, Ren is at least sure Roy will be able to defeat Gordo if along with Childe. Merely, he remembered with Dela, the female figure that could make him retreat evens when Ren was in a strong condition.
From there Ren understood, that "Apostle of Demon God" was a cult that could not be underestimated.
Moreover, Ren did not want them to feel such deep suffering as he felt just from knowing about the cult.
"There are many reasons, but I find it hard to say." Ren replied at last.
"Huffa..." Roy sighed, not believing.
"You're very stubborn, aren't you? In that case, I can only fight them without a plan" Roy said as he ruffled his waist, with a face that said "want how else."
"Did?!" instantly, Ren's face changed.
"You're still going to fight them?" asked Ren astonished.
"Well, of course, anyway, this is our town, right? We will defend it as best we can. And also, the person who attacked this city we cannot forgive. Where's our pride if we're just silent when attacked?" roy asked with a confident smile. He patted the person next to him, who was holding the arrow with a faint smile.
"Y-well, it's scary indeed, but I'll tell them that they were wrong to have attacked a city that contained the majority of Elves!" he said after taking a breath.
"Yes! Right!"
"I am also me too!!"
"Well so am I, though I am only a healer....."
The three others who were in the room also responded, expressing their spirit.
"You know what, Ren? Our souls are adventurers. It's impossible for you to tell us to keep quiet not knowing what! We will fight, no matter what!" roy said with certainty.
("No, you don't know what you're up against..") Ren thought. But he knew that stopping them would be useless.
"Huff. Alright."
"I'll tell you."
