Gorgeous Jewel

Gorgeous Jewel
Chapter II Chapter 40

Arriving at the palace, Kevin and Liliana split up. "Please Miss Saintess, I'll take you to your room." Said the maid who then drove Liliana.

Kevin began to head to his study, looking for the motive and truth behind Alice's attack. Based on the information she received, Alice had managed to defeat two people from the demon race at once, but regarding her efforts in killing the Queen was still unclear.

Kevin felt something was wrong. As a high-class noble, Alice should know the consequences of attacking the royal family the most, he thought.

Most of the servants he had questioned had no knowledge of the incident. Even some of them were nervous and panicked as Kevin asked that question.

"Dad must be hiding something." Kevin was suspicious.

After checking the King who was not in his room. Kevin was standing at the door with a vacillating mind.

Shortly after, Reiner came and saw Kevin. He approached and greeted her. Looking at Kevin's slightly tangled countenance made Reiner ask "Prince? Are you having a problem?"

Kevin turned to Reiner "Where's my dad?"

"Baginda is in the Drawing Room. Do you want to see His Majesty?"

Kevin breathed a heavy sigh. "I'm sure you can guess my reason for meeting him."

Reiner placed one of his hands under his chin. Indeed, as expected, however, sooner or later the Prince will definitely find a strange in Alice's actions. "Hm...It's a little difficult, sorry I can't answer your question. You'd better hear it yourself from His Majesty."

After that, the two walked to the Drawing Room. Kevin walked behind Reiner, he stared at the knight's back while thinking about Alice's actions.

From what he remembered, the girl looked so naive. Did he really have the courage to kill the Queen? Even when he saw her, Kevin felt that the girl was not someone who had the courage to hold a sword.

although they had met several times, but it was only limited to passing each other. If you look back on the behavior of Alice who always tried to stick to him, of course Kevin as much as possible to find a reason to avoid it.

When they had entered the drawing room where there was a closet with a pile of books and also beautiful paintings that almost filled the walls of the room, Kevin saw his father reading and checking the piles of papers on his desk.

Hendrick put down the paper he read. Kevin was shocked to see his father's face. More fresh and look healthy even eye bags that like attached to it began to disappear. Has he healed? Her delug.

When Kevin wanted to open his mouth to ask, Hendrick had already raised his question. "How was your expedition in the south?"

Kevin paused his intention earlier and replied to his father. "As Your Majesty had guessed, we had found some suspicious things and when we checked it turned out to be one of the headquarters of the demon race. They gathered some monsters to carry out an attack. I even saw one or two villages abandoned and destroyed by them." Obviously like a soldier who gives a report to his superiors.

Kevin moved closer to Hendrick's table. "I also found a crystal stone containing a collection of polluted Mana." Said slowly.

Hendrick's eyes opened wide at Kevin's words. He then tidied up the documents on his desk. Hendrick massaged both sides of his temple. "It's gonna be a little complicated." Hendrick turned to Reiner and called out to him.

"Yes, Your Majesty."

Hendrick wrote a short letter. Put it in an envelope and seal it with a royal seal. "Take this to the temple." He said while giving the letter to Reiner.

Reiner accepted it, even so he showed a reluctant expression to leave. Seeing Reiner's concern, Hendrick looked confidently into Reiner's eyes "With my current condition, you don't have to worry." He smiled to show that he was okay.

Hendrick again saw Kelvin. "I know what you want to ask." Hendrick stood up from his chair. He walked to the side until he came to a painting and looked at it.

"Before that, I wanted to ask you about your opinion regarding Miss Alicia."

Kelvin's eyes did not budge but his mind could not catch what his father meant. "I can't answer it before I confirm it myself."

Hendrick breathed his long breath. "It's not that I don't like it or like it but for now I'm a little interested in the news that's spread." Both sides of Hendrick's lips lifted slightly hearing Kevin's words. He glanced at the stiff face of his son. "He reminded me of when I was young." His mind.

"Oh yeah, I forgot. You came here to know the certainty of the rumors, right?"

Kevin nodded. "It's not me who planned it, but the girl who set it up." Hendrick looked at Kevin.

Hendrick approached Kevin and placed one of his hands on Kelvin's shoulder. "He was the one who healed my father, he was the one who helped Eliza. Do you know what? That baseless feeling of hate, can finally be resolved."

Kevin clenched both his hands. Hate feelings? Solved? That simple? Kevin looked at his father with the original wrinkled and a little annoyed.

"Don't think I don't know everything, son." With one last pat on Kevin's shoulder, Hendrick said. "The girl is not as simple as people think. If you want to know the truth, go see him." Say it with a shady face.

Kevin's heart was racing. What clarity does he need? With unstable emotions, Kevin turned around and left Hendrick. As his hand held onto the doorknob Hendrick held him back with a sentence. "I hope you'll see Eliza after you know everything."

Elsewhere, Marianne was sitting and taking care of her sword with a piece of cloth in her dorm room. The sound of knocking on the door made his hand stop.

"Mr Princess, you have a guest." Said a maid from behind that door.

Without raising her head, Marianne simply glanced towards the door and asked. "Who?"

"This is my Princess." Answer the green-haired, bespectacled man.

"Come in." He answered and then he wiped his sword.

The man entered, he walked up to Marianne and then suddenly knelt before her. He lowered his head and asked. "Masters. What's your next order?"

Marianne looked at the man with her sharp eyes.

"Change plans. Your job this time is to protect Alicia Lein Strongfort."

"Good Master. Sorry if I was sassy. What made you change your mind?" The man was still kneeling and bowing.

Marianne got up from her chair. He placed his sword on the table and opened the curtain. "You just need to protect her, no matter what. Let's just say this is one of the reasons I shaped you."

Marianne's quiet and sad voice caused curiosity for Andrew. He raised his head. Andrew was shocked to see the look of loneliness and sadness in Marianne's eyes. All these years after they had been trained so hard by Marianne, Andrew had never seen his Master have such a melancholy look.

Many questions began to arise in his mind but one conclusion that he could take. Alicia Lein Strongfort and her change of duty that originally watched and killed became absolute protection. The two must be related.
