Purity Online - The World For The Fallens
[Season 2] Chapter 58: The Resurrection and Death of the Two Fires of Spirit

It's really like a nightmare. Our parents fought to the point of sacrificing their lives to fight off the wolf pack, only to be killed and let the storage room be broken into by those beasts. So, what exactly is the meaning of their struggle?

Are all their struggles and sacrifices a waste? So, what exactly is the meaning of their lives? What do they feel when they are in the last seconds of their lives? Are they happy ... when they find out that the ending of their lives is that bad? Are they able to accept it? Or did they die in regret and despair from their helplessness?

Are they ... happy in nature there? When you know that even though they have tried their hardest to live optimally, the ending that awaits them is an ending like this?

At that moment, I said: "Destiny must be joking. The gods are also joking. Hey, if my guess is true, let me tell you that YOUR JOKES ARE NOT FUNNY AT ALL!!!"

Yes .... What is so funny about our suffering? What's so funny about all the tragedies that have happened to this family? Does God feel funny while torturing us like this? After all the suffering we had, I wished that at least God would give Happy Ending to the story of our family, but the truth ....

Where is the Happy Ending that people are always talking about? Do we still have to wait? How much longer do we have to wait for that? One more year? Another decade? Another half century?

"Now, the only option I have is to take this cruel and unjust life for granted. Yeah .., I think resignation is the best way. The only path that leads me to 'peace', although I myself do not know whether it can be called peace or not." That was how my mind was at the time.

But then I remembered the message that came from my father and mother's mouths before they went with Senshi to protect the storage room one night. "If something bad happens to the three of us, please continue our fight and try to live your life to the fullest even if you are alone. If Senshi survives, take good care of him as you would care for a treasure chest. Promise me that you will fulfill our request. You are the oldest child in the family. We're counting on you, Yamarashi." That is how their message sounds.

At that very moment, I realized that it was precisely this cruelty and injustice in my life that kept me fighting. If I just keep quiet and ignore these atrocities and disguise them as peace, my life will feel like a lie. I have to use my life as much as possible, no matter what kind of ending I get at the end. This tragedy is not the end of everything. I must keep fighting, for I will never be able to accept this unjust life.

This life is all I have. I cannot forcibly replace him with another happier and more peaceful life. I can't fake my tragic life as a peace. I alone must bring that peace into this life.

The flames of spirit once again filled my soul. I continued the struggle of my parents and tried to live my life to the fullest. However, it seems that Senshi is still unable to recover from the tragedy that night. Every day, she kept herself locked up in her room crying out loud. I've tried various ways to comfort her and persuade her out, but they all failed. Day after day passed and Senshi's state had not improved as well.

Finally, three weeks after the tragedy happened, Senshi stopped crying and walked out of her room. I smiled happily because I thought she was back to being my usual sister. However, when I greeted him, he replied with a tone of voice and a flat face. Both of his eyes also did not give off the slightest hope of life. In that instant, I realized that he was not the Senshi that he used to be. The senshi I knew was dead, and I killed him.

"Oh, yeah ...." Yamamura fingered his chin. "You don't have to blame yourself, Yamarashi. If you hadn't prevented Senshi from returning to the front of the storage room back then, he might not be in this world anymore by then. Your words at the time were harsh and negative, but that was the only way you could save her."

"Yes, but still I feel guilty over-"

"AAAAUUU!!"

The loud howling of the wolf breaks the calm of the night and cuts off Yamarashi's speech, followed by howls from other wolves. The wolf pack must have been near the house.

"The first Dire Wolf's howl was louder than any I've ever heard before" Yamamura said with a cautious and serious look.

"That means the source of the sound is near here .... If the howl was meant to signal a gathering and prepare to attack the herd, then that means .. The herd of wild wolves will be in action again tonight!!" sahut Yamarashi with a face that is no less serious.

"We need to get ready, Yamamura!!"
