After Story 2: Stop Turning

The sun is approaching the horizon. Orange and reddish lights began to color the sky in Tokyo, signaling that dusk had arrived. Occasionally crows flew across the orange sky and roared. People in the city seem to be busy with their own activities. Modern vehicles pass by on crowded highways.

*ngg*ngg*

The noisy roar of the train engine filled the atmosphere. The next station was in sight. The driver rushed to brake the train. It took a few seconds for the high-speed maglev (magnetic levitation) train that harnessed the magnetic principle to stop.

After the train stopped, passengers paved the way for pregnant women and elderly people to get off first, followed by several passengers. One of them is the main character of this story, Ryugai Yuzumoto. A large synthetic leather bag hung on his shoulder. Yes, in 2078, people are already using synthetic leather to prevent the extinction of animals whose skin is taken as a material for making bags, shoes, belts, and so on.

"Regulating the children is quite tiring as well," he said with a long sigh. "But, it's fun, anyway." A carefree smile began to be etched on his face.

"I'd better be back before dark" Ryugai continued, looking at the Sun, which was almost sinking on the horizon.

The young man also stepped home to his apartment which happened to be located not far from the police station where he was detained first. However, he usually took another route so as not to pass through the police station. Unfortunately, the route he used to pass was closed because the road was large enough and was being repaired, so he had to take the route that passed the police station.

As soon as Ryugai passed the police station, he stopped his steps for a moment and stared at the building. It's been seven years since the last time the young man came here. The police station building in front of him has changed a lot, including the trees around his yard which was small and short now has risen and spread beautiful flowers.

"It's been seven years since I came here, huh?" Ryugai smiled. "The trees have grown up ...."

"So much as I am ...."

"So, I have to keep moving forward. But that doesn't mean forgetting the past. I will always remember my past, but I will not keep glued to the past because it is in vain. Nothing will change by doing that. Everything's changed now and can't go back to how it used to be."

"So ..., I will stop turning .. and focus on building my future ...."

"I will make my dream come true ..., create a world without suffering ...."

Ryugai continued his journey home. However, not far from the police station, he had heard the sound of police patrol car sirens. The young man turned his head and saw a patrol car that was a bit reddish because it was hit by the twilight light stopped right beside him.

The car glass slowly opened. Ryugai's eyes widened. Behind the window was a woman he thought he would never see again. A young woman with golden hair. It was definitely Yuukaru. It's just that his golden hair looks longer than it was seven years ago and is pigtailed in a ponytail style backwards. He was wearing a police uniform.

"Yu-Yukaru?!" ryugai said stammeredly as he was still shocked.

"It's really you, Ryugai!!" A sweet smile was drawn on Yuukaru's face, then the girl did a respectful attitude. "Sergeant Police Yuukaru from the traffic division, ready to uphold justice!!"

To be continued

Who would have thought that Yuukaru who used to always consider justice as rubbish is now instead the enforcer of justice.

(Fun Fact: The nostalgic scene where Ryugai gazes at the trees was inspired by a scene that actually happened in the real world and is completely natural author.)
