Purity Online - The World For The Fallens
[Season 2] Chapter 67: Nobody's Perfect

The atmosphere turned silent. Even the nocturnal sounds of animals and the sound of the night wind were not heard. It was as if nature was being silenced to honor the sacrifice of Yamarashi. Moments later, the leader of the dire wolves threw the brown-haired teenager's body to the side with his jaw and walked over to him, intending to vent his anger. So did the members of the herd who seemed to be waiting their turn.

However, a fiery arrow quickly entered through the mouth and stuck it in the throat of the leader wolf. Very quickly, the fire erodes the ice sheet in the throat and spreads, causing burns to the internal organs as well as clogging the respiratory tract. Panicking from the suffocation and the inside of his body burning, the leader of the herd thrashed out while letting out stifled growls. He died in just minutes. The wolf cubs then retreated after witnessing the death of their 'US card.

"Ignian... Arrow...," Inner Senshi. He turned his head towards Yamamura who was panting. The golden-haired adventurer seemed to be struggling with the pain of the wound he used to activate emergency mode as well as the side effects of skill incorporation when emergency mode was active. His hand was still holding his bow.

"No.., it's a new type of Ignis Arrow that can be controlled remotely. So the reason you sacrificed is not just to protect me, but also to give Yamamura some time so that he can create that new type of skill?"

Senshi smiled wryly, as if laughing at himself. What he thought would be a 'show show' for him turned out to actually fall into the hands of others. Tears now began to flow through her cheeks. He can't hold it anymore.

"In the end, I'm not the hero."

(Like the previous chapter, please play the song above so that the damage is more pronounced.)

A simple gravestone sits quietly at the end of the mound of the last resting place of Yamarashi, shaded by dense tree leaves and illuminated by the distinctive reddish glow of the dim and soft dawn. In front of the tombstone, Senshi and Yamamura were standing side by side. There was no sobbing coming from the mouths of the two. They could only stare at the tomb silently.

"In the end, I failed again" Senshi said. The expression on his face that did not reflect the spirit of life was exactly the same as what Yamamura had seen when they first became acquainted.

"Even if you give yourself a chance to fight once again, the hero is your brother and you, Yamamura."

The black-haired boy with golden irises lowered his head deeply, then continued his speech.

"Everything repeats. First my parents, and now Brother Yamarashi. They fight hard for abstract things that sound beautiful like hope, dreams, justice, and peace, but then do not without having the opportunity to see what they are fighting for come true. They did leave with no regrets, but...."

The boy's words were broken. He downed his own saliva and clenched his hands tightly together, but then relaxed them. The surge of anger within him was quickly swallowed up by the submission.

"It seems not to dream high, give up, and accept reality is indeed the most appropriate way to live life. Reliance on ideal and utopian things will only lead to eternal suffering. If dreaming is too high, even if falling is indeed a fall among the stars, but it will not change the intense pain received when the body hits the ground surface."

"Not really."

"Eh?"

Right after the response was thrown from Yamamura's mouth, Senshi raised his head and turned his head to the side. Both of his eyebrows were bent, signifying a sense of wonder. Immediately, he responded:

"What do you mean?"

"Receiving reality does not mean we have to give up and stop fighting. Precisely after making peace with reality, we must be able to challenge and defeat it. Peace with reality is only necessary so that you can 'fight sportively' with the reality of your life now" Yamamura explained.

"That does not apply to the weak and unendowed lower classes like me and my family. Let alone the power to fight back, we were not even given magic power like the rest of the people in this world." Senshi replied, bowing his head once more.

"Nobody's Perfect."

"Eh?"

The dark-black-haired boy raised his head once more when he heard Yamamura's words.

"No man is perfect, Senshi. Every human — even that looks perfect — has its own flaws and problems. Although the intensity is different, anyway."

"So, you too.. have experienced situations where you feel weak, helpless, and doubt yourself?" Senshi widened her pupils.

"Of course," Yamamura said with a big smile. "At the moment, I am fighting for a goal that I can either achieve or not. But I kept fighting."

"Why?" ask Senshi. "You do realize that you could die before you could reach that goal, right?"

"Of course I was aware and I couldn't possibly ignore it by saying: 'That's about later, don't think about it now' or anything like that" Yamamura chuckled. "But even if I fall in the middle of the road like Yamarashi and your parents, at least I have fought as much as I can and know the result. Thus, I can go proudly in the glorious death."

"Go with pride... Even if you do not achieve results equal to your efforts? It's completely irrational...."

"so. But that irrationality is our hallmark. Arguably, it was something that made a human being completely human."

Senshi turned her eyes. Now, he looked straight at the elder brother's tombstone. A wry smile was etched once again on his face. His golden sliced eyes that had looked like dead fish eyes were now glittering in the bright light of the fully rising sun.

"I still have a long way to go before I can become fully human" Senshi said.

"Yes...." Yamamura nodded while patting his partner's back. "Enhance, man."

To be continued

For some reason, the author's eye is 'more leaking' than the time of the death scene of Yamarashi, jir:"(Well, maybe because the author seemed to see himself in the character of Senshi.
