Ch. 125 - The Extinguishment of the Sea of Fire
In the middle of a quiet night Xin Chen woke up from his sleep. The candle on the wall of his room died for no reason. He sat on the edge of the bed, rekindling the fire in the candle with the Fire of Eternity. Blue coloring his room.
The blue light revealed the form of a demon that was asleep by folding its body, Xin Chen initially thought it was Ye Long but the golden feathers all over the demon's body made his forehead wrinkle. In addition, he saw Ye Long's tail hanging from the top of the closet. The rubber belly dragon last night feasted on meat until his belly was distended. As he remembered Ye Long was sleeping on the floor next to him, but now it was just that another demon had taken Ye Long's place until the dragon was sleeping on top of the cupboard that was about to collapse.
Xin Chen lit more blue flames, seeing very clearly a wolf was sleeping soundly in his room. And a frightened dragon in the closet.
"Ye Long ...?" As Xin Chen spoke the dragon was like wanting to cry. He had not slept the night because of another demon who had trespassed into Xin Chen's room.
Xin Chen woke up, approaching the wolf slowly. The wolf's ears moved. Making Xin Chen's move stop. The demon is awake. He did not want to get close before making sure his guess was correct.
"Lang?"
"Rnrh ..." The demon folded its tail, looking more like a millipede.
"Hey, anywhere you've never seen. I'm looking for you"
"He'll be here soon"
The sound of the door buzzing made Xin Chen's heart jump. It could have been midnight her father made a fuss.
"Lang's? Are you that?"
The wolf muttered. No one knew where and what the Golden Hairy Wolf was doing. He disappeared. It occurred to me that the wolf was gone. But the growing scars all over Lang's body are enough to explain that the wolf has gone through a lot of terrible fights out there.
"Lang, what's going on? Why are you hurt. Hey this wolf, your mouth's been moved up your ass until you can't answer me?" annoyed Xin Fai, every time he met his Innate Lang his blood rose continuously. Though he misses the wolf very much, but Lang does not really care about choosing to sleep.
"Oh, now you're ignoring me?"
"Stop babbling, I want to heal my wounds."
"What was in the forest was you, right?" Xin Fai directly threw a question, Lang grumbled. The night is very late. Xin Fai should have known better about it this morning.
"Xin Chen, you might be able to explain what's going on here. I'm glad he's home, but why is he so cute than before?"
"You don't even care if my body gets hurt." Lang nagged annoyed.
"Well, just answered." Xin Fai was excited himself.
"We better talk about it tomorrow, Dad. Lang might be exhausted, he needs rest." Xin Chen mediated, he stared up at the top of the closet where his dragon was already teary wanted to go down.
"Oh yeah, maybe Lang can sleep in my dad's place."
"There's no place in the room anymore. Your room is the most spacious, Chen'er."
Xin Chen pointed at Ye Long who was now staring at Xin Fai in fear.
"The dragon told me to sleep on the roof. It sucks," grumbled Lang. Xin Chen almost laughed looking at her pet face. Lang was indeed stronger than Ye Long, making the dragon fear the wolf.
"You two share a place there. Lang, we're talking about this in the morning. I also want to celebrate your return."
"Tell dad I'll be back the day after tomorrow. After that, this room will be yours."
Lang woke.
"You just got home, want to go again?"
"Yes." Yeah." Xin Chen continued. "I'm going to Renwu City, maybe a little while. Tonight I don't feel the storm from there, if I leave tomorrow I'm afraid the weather won't support."
"There is something I want to talk about." Lang folded his tail back, asleep.
"What?"
"Forget over. We'll talk about it when you get back."
Xin Chen furrowed his brows. I agreed after that. Xin Chen and Ye Long walked out of the house quietly, flying high above the sky. Ye Long's voice rang out loud.
"We're finally home, but the employer doesn't seem to want to linger with the family." Ye Long opened his voice. "It's more fun with family."
Xin Chen knew what Ye Long felt. Desire to live in a warm and comfortable place, with family and sharing stories. Ren Yuan treated Ye Long like his own son, making the dragon even more at home. The place he wanted to be since long ago.
Sure enough, discussing it only made Ye Long moody.
"Happiness can be taken away in one night." Xin Chen uttered it while recalling the times where his house was destroyed in a war.
"I'd rather fight to make sure the house is safe, so that when I have time I can go back there and share all the adventures I've had with mom. Rather than continue to be there, while disaster will come sweeping the house to the ground."
Ye Long did not quite catch what Xin Chen said. "You mean adventure's more fun?"
"Adventure is always fun. Instead of sitting in a chair and receiving a mission, go back and earn a wage. Then every day I have to repeat it to my breath."
Xin Chen laughed blandly. I can't imagine such a life. Becoming an Imperial Pillar was not a suitable occupation for a creature like him.
From a distance Xin Chen could see an urban light that was very different from what he encountered. That place, Renwu City had turned pitch-black. The fire of Eternity that enveloped him had been extinguished with the Dark Dragon. Ye Long landed onto the ground, that place was simply not worth living in anymore.
Xin Chen had a chance to doubt whether there were still plants living in a place like this. The Fire Mushroom that Luo Li said was nowhere to be seen.
If the name is Fire Fungus, surely the plant has a light color. But no plant was found anywhere. Two hours of searching, Ye Long who was monitoring from above had already said he saw nothing either.
Early dawn the sky began to show a dark blue color. Ye Long was exhausted, Xin Chen no longer knew where to look. The two sat on a statue that was still intact in Renwu City. The first Imperial Pillar statue that had lost its head.
The sight before them was only the only entertainment. The ocean in front looks sparkling like a diamond, making the place at the end of the city look bright even though there is no lighting.
Xin Chen laid down his body, looking up at the barely starry sky.
"There are no stars?" Xin Chen re-awakened, feeling a sense of incongruity as he stared ahead there.
