The Demon Swordsman 3

The Demon Swordsman 3
Ch. 43 - The Last Hugs

"There's no way I should use that sword ..."

Xin Chen muttered softly. The voices sank in his ears, the gusts of wind from the front grew closer and flew his robe to flutter. On the ground he was the only man standing there. The body of the Dark Dragon was clearly visible in front of him and was heading towards Xin Chen.

The Dark Dragon's head began to barely touch the surface of the earth. His mouth was wide open revealing a bright spot of pure blue. Xin Chen was certain that in a split second, whatever was in front of the dragon would be blown away.

A memory flashed a glimpse in Xin Chen's memories. The last time he saw Xin Fai, before the man left on his last mission, was to protect the Shang Empire from afar. Right in front of Qin Yujin, his mother, Xin Zhan and everyone else who was there.

Seven years ago. Before his departure, Xin Fai hugged Xin Chen so tightly. But the embrace was not just a farewell to them, but something else Qin Yujin did not know.

The sound of echoes in a vacuum that has no hallways or ends. Xin Chen who was so young opened his eyes, tracing around in question marks. Until finally his attention is attracted to a light in front. He walked on a path above a stream of water that was so calm. Xin Chen had no idea where he was, all he did was follow his instincts. Something pulled him into that light so bright and warm.

Then his eyes were locked at one point, a man so similar to him. The man was much different than he had always seen. He may be about 18 years old or older. Xin Chen walked over.

"I'm sorry."

The first sentence that came out of the figure, Xin Chen was shocked. He did feel alien to the figure of his father who looked young. But ... Why, Xin Fai's face was filled with so much sadness? Did the man experience a deep sense of loss that snatched a warm smile from his face.

Xin Fai who herself knew, was a warm and smiling father figure. The young Xin Chen fell silent.

'What is loss?' his inner.

Then Xin Chen recalled what he had just experienced before arriving at this foreign place. He was fighting it out defending his home in Renwu City. And in the end, Xin Fai surrendered herself to protect everyone.

"Dad ...!" Xin Chen's voice choked.

The man looked. Xin Chen was shocked when he saw Xin Fai's face the same as he had always seen. A father with a big smile adorned his face.

"You're going?"

Those brown eyes were glimpsed to bring out a golden complexion. So beautiful. His mother always praised him. Xin Fai's gaze fell on the light in front of him which slowly faded away.

"I'm not leaving you."

"Until I say about leaving me. That means you're gonna leave me, Dad."

"Whatever happens in front of him I will not leave you. Everything is my choice. I'll find my way home to the bottom of the abyss, but can you come and help me when I don't make it?"

Xin Chen's heart was like it was being crushed from the inside, even though no large hammer was hitting him.

"Of course." she replied a little.

And one of his eyes shed tears.

"You don't believe I'm coming back?"

Xin Chen nodded. Both of his hands were clenched. He still could not control his own emotions.

And when he realized, this vacuum was his father's subconscious. That place is so quiet. And he felt safe there. While out there, somehow it seems like time has stopped moving. Xin Chen was able to sense that as his slight awareness was still in the outside world.

"This sword. Even though it only looks like a sword. There are two great swords. Undefeated by anything. Don't let anyone take it. Someday, they'll come back to find you. And through my intermediary. Are you willing when it comes to you? Fight me with that sword. I'm sure ... You can help me."

Xin Fai's light grew dimmer and finally extinguished, until she could see nothing but feel the last hug so warm. Xin Fai's gifting sword seemed to fuse within Xin Chen. Everything that happened to Xin Chen that day, he could not describe with words.

Only one Xin Chen knew. He had no idea who his father was.

"One more thing. Take care of your mother like I'm looking after her. Tell him I've always loved him and I'll be back, he'll have to hold on until then."
