The loud bang made the ground tremble, the dust from above falling down as the three of them managed to close the entrance to the underground tunnel.
Still in disbelief, Lian did not let go of her gaze from above. He managed to escape death. That is one surprising thing, although in recent days he has been dealing more and more with this infection.
"I thought we were gonna die ..."
Lian took a deep breath afterwards, but her chest still remained tight.
"Damn it, one of my weapons fell while running," Shuo said at once. Xin Chen immediately walked in front, observing the place they were going through. It doesn't seem so safe. Along the way the muddy was filled with a strange, thick-smelling liquid. They continued walking straight until they arrived at a dead end. Which leads them to the exit.
After a long walk for almost an hour, Lian was finally able to breathe fresh air compared to the underground tunnel air. They reached a large deserted road as it was protected by a high wire fence on the right and left sides. Looking around, only a few infected passed by and were not very aware of their existence.
Xin Chen reached out a hand so that Shuo could go upstairs. Shuo was as curious as the two of them, somehow just coincidentally but indeed this place was much quieter than other chaotic places. Xin Chen looked up when a groaning voice sounded.
As well as Shuo and Lian, the two of them glared half in shock. Xin Chen was still stunned with almost disbelief. Looking up there the living man was hanged, not just one but along the great road every thirty meters away there was a tall pole with the living man hanging on it.
Then the earth felt like it was being shaken by something so devastating, Xin Chen turned to the end of the road with a sinister look. The sound of gunfire roared afterwards along with the fall of the hanged man, one by one and getting closer.
The woman who was hanged near them pleaded very strongly, "To-please ... Rescue ... Me-" Blood spilled from his mouth, "I have three children, they no longer have a father ..."
"Chen, run!!!" shouting Lian out loud, she tried to pull Xin Chen who was about to save the woman. But unfortunately before being able to do it the rope hanging both hands of the woman was cut off.
A tsunami-like human wave of corpses chased after them from behind, Shuo running forward opening the road with a makeshift weapon. While Lian continued running while pulling Xin Chen. "There's nothing you can save there! The one who must be saved now is yourself!"
Shuo let out a frustrated scream, in front of him were too many infected that he could not cope with
"For whatever reason, slow down that terrifying human wave! I can't handle it-"
Xin Chen took out the Steel Phoenix Sword that was fed by the power of the Fire of Eternity, lifting it up made the prison of fire high. Movement slowed down, Lian shuddered in horror when she saw the creatures crawling despite their bodies being burned.
Xin Chen cast a distant glance over the tall building where some people realized that the three of them were still alive. Start attacking them with firearms.
Shuo who was eradicating in the front row continued to attack the infected herd. He yelled, "I won't let you touch me!"
"Shuo, lookout!" xin Chen's shout was muffled by the sound of gunfire. He tried to save Shuo and it made his fire prison weaken. Shuo stopped flicking his guerrilla wooden stick, his shoulder was leaked by the bullet. He moved unsteadily, his body balance weakening instantly.
Shuo's eyes turned watery, "Bu-not a big deal ... We have to find food and, uhkk, fucking bangs*t it ..." As Lian approached, Xin Chen tried to get rid of Lian's body as soon as possible before another bullet killed her friend.
But it was unexpected that Shuo first saved him and made his body as a shield.
"They're getting closer ... Run!"
Xin Chen couldn't say anything, he grabbed Shuo's body and ran as he could, Lian found a place that looked protected from all sides. There was an iron shell that had to be pulled up so they could enter. Besides, there's no safer place.
The shock from behind drew closer, the sound of roars and screams as if to be the death bell for the three of them.
"That's what I said! They spilled the bodies into the wasted city! They're fucking ...! But why go to this place?!" Lian whose body was not as strong as the others pulled the iron upwards until both of her legs shifted. She almost cried, her face flushed red. Shuo who was on the verge of death stood up, helping Xin Chen and Lian pull the iron that would be unable to even weight if transported by dozens of adults.
Xin Chen added his strength, making the door push up quickly.
"Come in! There's no more time!!" Lian walked in first, looking back where she found Shuo had just pushed Xin Chen in forcefully. Before the door fell back to the ground.
"I've been bitten." Shuo's teary eyes made Xin Chen even more unable, they had fought so far and now Shuo wanted to stop.
He fell to the ground, clutching the strong iron barrier. "Tell Yu-"
The infected were right behind his back and started pulling Shuo's body instantly.
"Shuo, no!!" Lian gripped the iron, Shuo's blood splattered all over his face as well as the petrified Xin Chen. Both hands were cold.
"No ... Not again!" Lian was unable to contain her cries, Shuo was her best friend. They had been friends for a long time and fought many things together. Of the many companions he had only Shuo remained, and now he was gone. Lian witnessed the death of her best friend before her own eyes.
"Shuo sacrificed for us." There was sorrow on Xin Chen's face back then, he regretted not being able to do much. Although there was a choice to use his strength, but the enormous risk could be that the three of them were in danger as well.
"What do you want to say to Yu?" Lian tried to grab onto the rest of Shuo's scattered body, crying in a sea of blood that began to flood over. Then the infected hands tried to reach him. Lian pulled out a bomb that had been just in her storage.
He threw the thing in annoyance, "You're all trash!"
Amidst the wrath that engulfed the rest of his sanity, Lian did not care which way he threw the dangerous explosive. Now that the other unfortunate picked them both up, it hit an iron wall and bounced back towards the two of them.
"Lian, run!"
Xin Chen pulled the teenager's collar with all his might, in just the next second a sizable explosion occurred. Destroy the shackles that protect them from getting infected.
"Night again." Xin Chen looked at Lian seriously, "Whatever happens don't get bitten and stay next to me. Shuo had already sacrificed lives for all of this, in order for us to save the people of the Southeast Camp. Youunderstand?"
Lian did not answer. If he made a sound, only a cry could be heard from him. Xin Chen was as open-hearted as Lian was at the moment, but if they did not immediately move to save themselves Shuo's sacrifice would be in vain.
