The Demon Swordsman 3

The Demon Swordsman 3
Ch. 142 - Buried Hope

The sound of a twig being devoured by fire became the only source of sound in the middle of the night that was so quiet, a cold wind came greeting, gently caressing the cheeks of a young man who was sitting on a rock while pondering. Many things he had not understood since setting foot in the Wei Empire. Everything raged in his head. And the goals that once filled his whole head seemed to be forced to pull over, by the chaotic circumstances in this Empire.

In his silence, someone came carrying the freshly burnt venison elsewhere, thrusting it at the young man. He slightly lowered his head for the sake of looking at Xin Chen's face.

"You okay?"

Xin Chen had known of Yu's presence since earlier, without turning his head he replied.

"Looks."

"Alright," he concluded. Then Yu spoke again, "I thank you for your water source we can still secure. Facing them all alone, I'm not sure how you did it."

There's no answer. True to his expectations, Xin Chen was in a state of turmoil with his own thoughts. The woman snorted, a little laughing. "Is there a problem that's bothering you?"

"I lost someone, the one who brought me here." Xin Chen started thinking to be honest, because in the end he needed a reason to get to his destination.

"You're not this Imperial guy?"

There was a moment of silence, but Yu seemed not surprised anymore, he immediately said quietly. "No need to doubt, tell me. You are now my family, I will help you when you are difficult and vice versa."

Yu stressed once again, "I won't tell anyone about this."

He downed the drink inside the bottle, throwing his gaze at the bonfire as he waited for Xin Chen to speak. There was no sound for long, so small beside him.

"I came here to find a cure, for my mother's illness. Red Crystal. A young healer said that his teacher in this Empire could create medicine for him. But he's gone, and I'm losing my way."

"Tabit ... Hm, it seems that if he strongly believes his teacher can cure Red Crystals, it is certain that his teacher is not an arbitrary person. Eighty percent, a person like his teacher must have been taken to the central center and empowered by the government."

Xin Chen turned to her, one thought as the Three said. Xin Chen showed the wooden inlay that Luo Li had given him for the last time.

Yu looked at the goal, "I've seen it somewhere. But trust me, if there's one safest place to keep useful people like his teacher, it must be Central."

But Yu hesitated when answering the rest. "It's not easy to get in there. I wanted to get there, but the access road was strictly guarded. The last time my men came forward, they were shot dead without warning. That instant."

Disappointed for sure. Xin Chen kept the carving back. Heavy breathing was heard afterwards.

"But Three said he'd be there too."

Yu smiled bitterly. He woke up suddenly, trying to look ordinary.

"The man you're talking about is probably in a day and ruined. Follow me."

The woman left without letting Xin Chen ask, inevitably she came along. Yu said nothing about Three. Until they got out of the Southeast Campground and entered the pine forest path. Xin Chen sensed another presence in this forest, around five people.

The roar of tears followed interspersed with desperate cries that were so painful, not just once twice, even dozens of times. A man who is struck by the reality that appears before his eyes. That man, Three.

Xin Chen stared in disbelief. The two infected in front of Three were being tied up at a large milestone, roaring in doom about to bite Tiga. But what made silence fixated was not that, but rather his conjecture.

A woman with cloud-white skin and a dark-skinned child and curly hair. They're like starving undead trying to infect Tiga. The roar of his wife's son was drowned by the cry of Three, he was completely crushed. To throw a log and anything around it.

"Anj1ng military! They don't even look after my wife's children, they've said they'll look after them before I stop working, all this time I've devoted myself to the pointless and now dead is useless?! Fuck, Central Military Faction bia*ab!" The three continued to cuss, his eyes were red and his sad tears had turned into tears of anger.

"I will not let the demons live quietly, I swear I will kill them! Including anyone who sided with them!"

Xin Chen spoke a thousand languages. Subjugate head. Before long the two men next to Tiga forced the man to end the suffering of his wife's son, Tiga wept as he beheaded the two. Blood poured down the trees and grass leaves.

The three carrying a huge axe in his hand, came to a standstill when he saw Xin Chen had just seen what had happened. The look in his eyes was so saddened with intense muted anger. He patted Xin Chen on the shoulder, holding her tightly.

"I'm sorry, man. Looks like I won't be with you to Central. I'll avenge myself against the Central Military Faction. I'll stay here until I meet my old partner who dumped my son and wife into the sea of infection."

Three passed without looking at him once more. Letting Xin Chen stand sculpting. Realizing the current situation in front of him is increasingly impossible. A bitter smile appeared on his face.

"How's it?"

Yu folded his hands, waiting for the young man's response.

"I'm used to standing on my own feet. No need to worry."

The middle of the night was so late that it made the situation so quiet. Yu and the others had already returned first to the encampment, but Xin Chen decided to leave at the very last. While thinking about everything that had arisen was drowning in his mind.

The leaves on the path that had dewy from the secondhand rain earlier this afternoon withered when stepped on by him, Xin Chen lit the Fire of Immortality and set fire to the infected one that roamed the middle of the forest. It should be safe, not so much of a threat. Xin Chen was ascertaining how long the Fire of Eternity burned one infected and was trying to raise the temperature of the flame. So that he can kill them quickly.

Busy with the experiment, Xin Chen was unaware a threat was lurking behind him.

Yu was back in shock when almost a quarter of the way, he had yet to tell Xin Chen anything. About the top tier infected who was a stealth man roaming the pine forest, he left no trace and moved in silence the night. Movement fast. And unlike most infected who move only on weak instincts, they have abnormal behavior that is difficult to explain.

The second when Yu found Xin Chen in the middle of the forest, he was surprised instead of playing. The beast had been stalking the young man and attacking him right on the shoulder, Xin Chen gasped in shock. He felt no presence or sound, the overwhelming shock was met by a painful bite that penetrated all the way to his shoulder.

"RUN FAST!!!"

Yu slashed out in all directions, against the violent creature and clawed at its face. Xin Chen held back the blood that kept seeping out from his shoulders, his breathing falling apart.

"Run fast!" yu shouted until his voice was almost gone.

Yu managed to escape from the creature, throwing a firecracker that disturbed his sense of hearing. Pulling Xin Chen as fast as possible in order for them to get to the Southeast Campground immediately.
