The Demon Swordsman 3

The Demon Swordsman 3
Ch. 170 - Return

The treatment that was done for Xin Chen lasted more than seven days, it was not an easy matter to deal with his illness. Xin Chen was unconscious until the second where he had been successfully rescued. However Luo Mei gave him some advice, if one day the illness came back again then it was best for Xin Chen to return to the Rain Shrine.

Looking at the materials lying on the table, Lang was able to suppose the price Luo Mei put out was not a bit. He thanked her as much as possible, at least not coming home with his best friend's child in a bad state. The wolf was now just sitting by the fountain, looking at the bustle at the Rain Temple.

The place is always cloudy, if it rains it can be up to days. The peace in that place made him able to catch his breath even if only for a moment. Xin Chen was already allowed to go out to meet with Lang.

Lang turned around, seeing Xin Chen wearing all-white clothes like his brother, Xin Zhan. It was so different that he stayed silent for a long time. Usually the big boy was obsessed with his black clothes, until one could not tell the difference between a swordsman or a shaman. Xin Chen frowned.

"Well, why see me like that? In love?"

Lang threw away his face in disgust. "White clothes, pale face like a brooding chicken. Satan jumped in shock when he saw you."

It seemed that Xin Chen could not expect a hint of soothing words from that razor mouth, at least the wolf said something about his recovery. Xin Chen sat on one of the wooden chairs directly opposite the pond as well as the fountain.

"It's probably been almost two months since we left. I don't know why ... I feel-" Xin Chen fell silent, unable to describe what she felt herself.

"It's like something bad is lurking deep in my house there."

Lang just kept quiet. Did not answer a word other than enjoying the cold wind of the rainstorm in the Temple. Xin Chen looked at his hand, maybe now he was indeed better than before. If it's in the Shang Empire he doesn't have to worry about this disease. But now he had to make sure he could return safely to Fanlu City. Bringing the Red Crystal antidote to his mother.

He could not let the woman who had loved and cared for him from birth suffer.

"You feel it often?" Lang finally let out a sound, though did not glance at him in the slightest.

"Sometimes," he answered.

"Sometimes Brother Zhan said when he felt unnatural unrest, I was in trouble at the same time. And vice versa."

"Worrying about a lot of things just makes you unable to think clearly" Lang said as he continued, "Let's just say he misses you."

"Maybe ..."

"This journey home, let me take you. I know the safest path to go home-"

Lang's speech was cut off when the commotion mushroomed from the gate of the Rain Temple to the inside, pounding on the temple gate which was very loud as a warning. At first they thought it was just the actions of a group of infected, but in fact the arrival of soldiers with red armor brought anxiety.

Moreover Xin Chen, he could not do much. Luo Mei might not have known that she was a fugitive who was being hotly targeted. He would bring disaster to this peaceful place - or even create bloodshed.

Worst of all, the sacred Rain Temple became a place of slaughter.

Reading the complexities on Xin Chen's face, Lang calmed down. "We retreat for a moment, if possible out of this Temple until they leave?"

"Without telling Great Master Luo Mei?"

Lang was about to block, his gaze locked on an old man with high charisma walking on the bridge connecting between the rivers, only to return from some interest in the Sixth Temple.

The man walked towards them after knowing what was going on ahead there. The door has not been opened, the soldier is still not allowed to enter because he did not bring an invitation. It was just that they were insistent and started breaking into the gate while showing the paper containing the command.

Luo Mei stopped right in front of Xin Chen.

"Follow me."

The two were confused, but still followed Luo Mei's steps into the library. Luo Mei opened a secret room located behind a high bookshelf, before the two entered she said, "Don't come out until I get back."

"You know-"

Luo Mei told him to shut up, shutting the place back down until all Xin Chen could hear was the sound of the footsteps moving away.

Lang took a place to rest as Luo Mei overcame the commotion outside. Xin Chen could not calm down. He recalled that in the Southeast Campground, those who wanted to protect him would probably fall victim to the government's slave abominations. He sharpened his hearing, made sure there wasn't any bloodshed out there.

Until late afternoon, Xin Chen could not figure out what was happening outside. But every now and then he heard the sound of the footprints being so rough, going through the library and scattering things.

That night Luo Mei again opened the entrance, the first time she saw was a face full of anxiety. He was immediately asked a question.

"Everything okay? No one was hurt? And how did you know I was targeted by them?"

"Calm down, young man. Your breath. Your face doesn't breathe for four hours."

Xin Chen paused the question he wanted to ask again. Luo Mei replied with calmness, "Everything is fine. That man wouldn't dare to commit an act of violence here. They've made sure there's nothing in our temple."

"But ... Don't you hate someone who killed your leader?"

While walking in the temple hallway, Luo Mei replied. "The "Emperor is the one who guarantees the life of his people, not his people as a guarantee for his life. To me and everyone who's been a victim, he's not a leader."

Luo Mei smiled for a moment, "I hope her son Shi Long Xu stays on his ideology to change this Empire better. He studied here for a few years. A few days before your arrival I got a letter from him, about you. He said you were looking for a cure, you'd be looking for me."

Xin Chen finally understood where Luo Mei could tell this.

To Shi Long Xu, the people outside the central no matter the small, wealthy, defector or military organization were his brothers. The pain they felt was a disease that gnawed at his conscience. Xin Chen had never regretted helping the man, although now he had to become a fugitive of one Empire.

"Trust me, even if you say this secret thing to everyone outside the center, none of us will let you be arrested." Luo Mei said it while looking into Xin Chen's eyes, like it had long been wrapped in despair and helplessness. Until now, a speck of hope has returned to the Wei Empire.

"The payment of billions will not be able to pay for the peace of this land. The money doesn't make us happy. We need a safe and comfortable place. Like a few years before this happened ..."

Xin Chen heaved a sigh of relief.

"Master Shi left me a few things. I've prepared your return, it's safer than passing through the secret passage. But you have to leave tomorrow morning."

"What about the Red Crystal antidote?" Lang immediately asked the point.

"No need to worry about that. Since researching this doesn't take much time, I'll prepare it tomorrow. Go sleep. Prepare for tomorrow. Maybe some guests will come here."
