Isekai No Gakusei: Students From Another World
The Jewel that Cracked

A little girl was sitting by the river staring at the setting sun in front of her face. With bare feet, he dipped his feet in the river water until he touched his knees.

In the bright sunlight, her green eyes seemed to glow like elegant emerald gems. Her long green hair was waving in the cool afternoon breeze, like silk thread that had been dipped in an expensive green dye. Above his ears, a flower-shaped pinch was stuck to his hair.

"I don't want to go home..." The girl muttered softly, talking to herself.

"Why?" Suddenly a man stood beside her.

The girl was surprised, yet just looked at him without much reaction. Turning from the light of the sun, his eyes changed from light to dark without light, like without hope.

"It's nothing" he answered.

The man was wearing a black gray uniform. Looks like he's a cop patrolling around here.

"It's almost dark. You must go home, " said the man, crouching beside him. "What if your parents are looking for you? You don't want to worry them, do you?"

The girl kept looking at him, before she replied, "I don't want to."

"Eh, why?"

He turned his eyes away. "No, no, no," she insisted again.

The policeman just silently glanced at him awkwardly. They don't really understand the nature of children. But at least he knows how to interact well.

He broke down and sat down by the little girl's side. The girl was astonished by his behavior, but eventually returned to look at the sun.

"You still want to see the sun, right?" The man smiled at her.

"Yes" answered the girl briefly.

"alright. I'll keep you company until the sun's gone."

Time just passed by. Without notice, the sun had completely set and the moon was beginning to rise. The stars began to sparkle in the middle of the dark blue sky. All this happened without a word coming out of their mouths.

The girl suddenly stood up, cleaned her little skirt, and stepped away. The man just stared at her stepping away while still sitting on the grass.

"Go home, yeah. Don't play everywhere night-night!" The man still had time to advise the girl.

The girl continued walking without turning her head, leaving the man alone by the river.

"The weirdo."

The next day...

The little girl sat by the river while looking at the setting sun in front of her face. On the soft grass, he curled up while immersing his face between his knees.

The clouds filled the sky. Enough to ruin the sunset that afternoon. His hair looks shorter than before. A fierce wind blew his hair and waved like a dull flag. The flower motif is still stuck in her hair.

"You're still here, too?" The man showed up yesterday again.

The little girl only glanced at him a little, then turned her eyes back towards the reddish expanse of clouds. The man approached her and sat down next to her.

"It's a pity that today the view is not good" the man continued. "By the way, did you get a haircut?"

"You're not feeling well?" Ask the man. "What does this have to do with your hair?"

The girl slightly snapped. He did not expect that the person he had met yesterday would notice this.

"T-No," he answered slowly.

The man brought his face closer, but kept his distance from the little girl. He tried to observe her expression while trying not to disturb her. The more thoroughly he noticed, he felt that something was wrong with this child.

Suddenly the girl moved and immediately turned around. "I-I want to go home first" he said with a small sob.

"H-Hey wait-"

He can't stop it. The girl immediately left in a hurry, as if she felt threatened. But without realizing it, he had dropped his flower hairpin. The man moved and picked it up, wondering what the boy was going through.

Krekka... The wooden door opened slowly, as if it was deliberately so as not to cause sound. The green-haired girl slowly stepped her feet in while sneaking around.

"About you just got home?" Without realizing it, his father had been waiting while standing behind the door.

Little akira was surprised. Before he could close the door, his father immediately pushed the wooden door with his feet closed in a loud voice. Such a loud voice frightened Akira. Not finished there, his father immediately pulled his ear and dragged him into a small room.

"This is the second time you've slipped out. Did you know that it was dangerous?!" Shouted father.

Akira was pushed to the ground. The girl started to sob. He wanted to cry, but he tried to hold back the tears.

"I'm-I'm sorry, Dad," Akira spoke softly, but his father didn't seem to listen.

Instead, the old man took a belt and grabbed Akira. The girl tried to defend herself. But what can a child do? All he could do was cover his face from the whip of the belt with his hands. His arms began to fill with bluish patches.

"Basic child does not know himself. You're my source of money. If you're up to anything, I'll lose!" Shouted father. "Your mother has done her job well as a moneymaker. You have to continue the work!"

"But, Dad. I'm just looking at the sights-Akh!"

Akira continued to receive the whip for some time. For children usually, they must have been crying. Akira is too. He was in pain and wanted to cry. To this day, she still holds back her tears.

"Why don't you cry? Hurry crying!" The old man continued to throw physical violence.

For up to half an hour, the blood splashes from Akira's wrist. The little girl almost fainted, or almost died. But still, he did not shed a single tear. The man finally realized, no matter how much he beat him, his son would not cry.

"Currently, I don't want to cry either. Never mind, I better waste my energy on something else," The man folded his belt and left.

Akira sprawled on the floor with swollen hands. His face was full of sadness and pain. He wanted to cry and let it all out, but he continued to resist. He can't cry. If he cried, the old man would win.

"Mother..." Slowly his eyes fell into despair.
