"Fire Elemental: Fire Charge," Darren said as he turned his hand over the pile of wood.
"The fire is done. This way I don't have to be afraid of freezing to death."
The northern region of the Erfroren mountain range was extremely cold. Snow and ice were everywhere and the blowing wind seemed to freeze the pulse.
Darren will soon arrive in the outermost city of Friedlich. But before entering, he decided to camp far enough from there.
"I'd better fill up my energy before I get in there. Just in case something bad happens."
Loaded with foliage and a thick tree branch, Darren tries to sleep in the middle of the cold night.
The cold air that was inhaled sometimes made his lungs hurt. But the presence of a nearby campfire makes Darren can overcome the problem.
"How many days, yes, I'm dead?" Darren said as he stared at the stars in the night sky.
"How are my parents? Are they okay?"
"I feel bad for leaving them without permission."
As Darren mourned his life, a voice suddenly emerged from the direction of the big road. Main road to enter Friedlich.
Darren quickly closed the head covering of his jacket and took a standby position. He looked over from behind the tree carefully.
There was a man carrying a chariot with a cage tied behind him, surrounded by a band of robbers.
"Looks like you brought a good item this time," said one of the robbers. "May we bring one."
"Of course not. These things belong to me! You can't touch him!" Reply to the Man.
"Eh... fight, huh?"
The robbers started pointing their guns at the man. "Leave just choose. Life or treasure?"
The man replied while raising his hand. "Guards!" He said, "Hit these robbers!"
A young man got out of the car. He looks lethargic and pale.
"Is he really a bodyguard?" Darren muttered looking at the man. "It's like not eating a week!"
"Hurry and attack them!" Keep the guy.
The young man took out a book and chanted some spells.
"Wind Elemental: Wind Bl-" He suddenly falls down before completing his spell.
"Hey, wake up stupid!" The man's protest. "How are you gonna protect me if you're like that!"
The robbers laughed too. "Ha! Ha! Ha! Never mind. Just leave that stuff to us. That's if you don't want to get hurt."
The man snarled. But he finally resigned.
"Alright" he answered.
He opened the cage he was carrying and took out the contents.
"What!?" How surprised Darren was when he saw the contents of the cage. "M-human Animal!? That's plenty!"
The animal humans seemed to be slaves to be traded. It was obvious how the man treated them.
"Hey, boss," said one of the robbers. "How about we just take this one?"
"Which one?"
The robber pointed to a human female animal with bluish silver hair and fair skin.
"Woah, good is your taste, too" replied the other robber. "In this case, we can have fun every night."
The robber looked at the man.
"Oy, Mr. Stupid. I'll take this one," he said, pulling the woman's hand violently.
The man went on his way and left the place. And so do the robbers.
"What should I do?" Darren asked himself. "I can't fight for now, considering my energy hasn't recovered yet."
"I can't meditate on this ice-cold pedestal! I have to find another way."
Seeing the robbers who were starting to move away, Darren finally decided to follow them secretly.
"It would be great if I knew them more deeply."
After a long walk, the robbers stopped at a small house outside the city. The house looks like an abandoned house and also seedy.
The moment Darren was waiting for began. The robbers started to open the door lock of the house.
"Watchpad? Ah, that means there's something precious in that house," Guess Darren. "But what is it? Silver? Gold?"
A loud noise suddenly sounded quite loud as soon as the door opened.
"Eh? What the hell is that noise?"
"It seems that the contents of the house were neither gold nor money, but something alive."
"What don't-don't... Satan!?"
Darren blinked his eyes. His childish thoughts began to appear.
"Definitely! It must be the devil!"
"The robbers may have a sacrifice, and the woman will be made into a fall."
Then there was another sound from the house.
"Sir, please give me a meal. I'm so hungry."
"That's right. That must be a demon prank! Proof he's asking for food!"
"Whisper all of you!" Shouted one of the robbers.
"They? Does that mean there's more than one demon?"
"I beg you, I'm so hungry" the voice began to sound resigned.
"Whispering knows!" Shouted the robber. "You're good at getting money, not spending money! You lowly animal man!"
"Eh? Human animals?"
"You're all just stuff! We won't care about your situation!" Connect the robber. "You are just a tool to make money. As long as you can fulfill that, then we'll let you live."
The animal humans were silent.
Then the robbers threw the woman into the house.
"Welcome to join," said the robbers with a laugh.
They locked the door and left the house.
"So there's a lot of animal people in there?" Darren Mumbled. "But what was the purpose of them gathering that much? Do they want to sell it again?"
After confirming that the robber was gone, Darren slowly stepped into the house.
He stood right beside a wall and activated his spell.
"Non-elemental Spell: Thermography!" Darren said slowly.
"It turns out quite crowded inside. And it seems like everything is just animal humans."
Darren focused his gaze on the entrance and found something.
"Magic?"
"I felt Protection magic on the surface of the door and the padlock. That way, breaking into the door would be difficult."
"I could have destroyed this wall with a single strike. But it'll endanger everyone inside."
"The safest way is to break into the door, but the magic gets in my way. I have to think of another way!"
Darren got the idea.
"The keys!"
"The robbers have the key to unlock it. Looks like that key is the only way to open this door."
"Then now, how am I gonna get that key?"
"This little house is just a shelter. They must have another base to stay in. Maybe if I go there, then I can steal the key."
Darren had seen the direction the robbers had left.
"It seems that following them is a good idea."
With his thermography, Darren manages to trace back the robbers' positions and follow them to his main base.
