The next morning, Darren and his two best friends had made their way to the academy. The distance between the inn and the academy was not too far away. But still, it doesn't change the fact that the road is still very confusing for Darren. Walking in the middle of this great city was like walking in a labyrinth.
Moreover, visibility was very limited because of the number of people passing by. That's not all. Horse carriages and tall buildings also made navigation very difficult. Even Darren thought being lost in the woods had a better chance of survival than being trapped in this ocean of humans.
"Darren-kun, don't let go of my hand," Ravenna said, pulling Darren's hand which also pulled Shiro's hand, running through the crowd.
"I told you. Call me Esema! I don't want the fugitive rumors to spread all over the city" Darren said, tightening his grip.
"Yes, yes."
A few minutes later. They finally managed to escape the crowd, like a canoe that finally pulled over to the beach after days of being tossed in the middle of the sea full of waves.
"We're up." Ravenna's words, pointing to a large, magnificent building.
The three of them stood in front of a large gate, with a road made of concrete blocks connecting them to the main building. Between the gate and the main building, there is a large enough land. In the middle there is a fountain that adds to the beauty of the building.
"This is school?" Darren's eyes stared in disbelief.
"Why do you look surprised?" asked Ravenna, looking at Darren's surprised expression. Actually Shiro also showed the same look. But Ravenna immediately concluded because she had never seen a school before.
Darren rubbed his eyes. "No. I just thought it would look like a haunted hospital."
"Areally as bad as your old school was?!"
Ravenna sighed, while being overwhelmed with Darren's attitude. "Ah, stop. We better get in. Your class is about to begin" he said, then turned to Shiro. "Shiro-chan, you come too. You're a classmate of Darren--Akhem~ I mean Esema-kun."
"All right."

The weather seemed fine that day. As usual, a gentle breeze blew slowly, sneaking in through the open classroom window. Outside - more precisely outside the school gates, it appears the human crowd passed by thinking about their lives. Life in a city is always like this. It always felt like it was full of pressure.
A man with pointy ears sat in his classroom seat, staring out the window framed with shiny sandalwood. His hand held a pen that he kept tapping on the table. His face looked grim, as he looked at the group of humans.
"Huffs... There is still no inspiration" he lamented quietly, without meaning anyone else to hear it.
Classes are very crowded. Many students-or rather, adventurers, were passing by in class. Some seemed to be discussing with their teammates. Some were also seen playing board games in the back seat. But of the many people there, the man chose to sit alone in his chair.
Shortly after, a large man entered, followed by two strangers walking behind him. Then all the adventurers immediately returned to their seats neatly.
"Good morning, everybody. Today we have a new student coming" said the big man, pointing at the two people beside him. "Please introduce yourself, both of you."
"S-Ready!"
The two men were filled with a man and a woman. The introductory session began. The man slowly advanced. Looked a little on his face he was trying his best not to mess this up.
"introduce. I'm Esema. I'm a bronze adventurer" he said. Then he bent his body. "I'll start studying here. So, please cooperate for the future."
Then the woman came forward.
"My name is Shiro, the bronze adventurer" he said. "I am a close family of Esema. It's good to see you guys."
They both backed off. Then the big man said, "Alright. It's nice to meet you both. I am the teacher here. You can call me, Oki-sensei. I am also a gold-level adventurer. So, if there's anything to ask, don't hesitate to ask."
"Thank you, Oki-sensei," they both replied in unison.
But just as they were about to be directed to their seats, it appeared that some people in the class started whispering to each other. What attracted the most attention were the two people sitting in the back seat, near the window.
"Heh, look! There was a human beast," one of them whispered softly.
"Yoi. It could be a new toy, "reply the others.
The pointy-eyed man turned around. He kicked his foot towards the table of the noisy pair of disciples. Pork! Then it makes the whole class quiet and directs their attention to him.
"Hey, you two. You know not that your mouth is like a leaky bucket?" he said with a soft tone. But the look in his eyes said something else. "Ember is a very useful thing. But if it burrows, then in an instant it immediately turns into trash. It makes me want to patch it. Of course until it never leaks again."
The two men then fell silent without a word. The man's gaze was intimidating enough that it almost made the two men wet their bed in fear.
The man returned to his position with crossed hands on the table. He just smiled, while looking at Darren and Shiro who were standing in front of the— class who were also glued silent because of the incident just now.
"I guess who. It turned out that they were both the people I had seen before the gate" Ronald said. "But if it's not wrong. They should have been three. And one of them was a diamond-level adventurer. But the interesting thing is, I had a chance to hear the name-"
"alright. Esema, Shiro, you can sit down at the table." Oki pointed to two empty benches scattered in every corner of the room. "The two seats were unused. In the right corner, the chair had been empty for a long time. And at that table by the window..."
Next to the table, was Ronald's seat. He just waved from a distance with— of course, a smiling face.
"yeah. That bench is quite problematic. Maybe not the bench. But the neighbors," continued Oki slowly.
"It's okay. I'll sit there" Darren said. He looked at Shiro. "You just sit in that chair over there" he said, pointing to the other end of the room.
"All right."
They both sat in their seats. So far, everything seems to be going well for Darren. But he felt anxious towards Shiro, after hearing the two disciples talk earlier.
"Not to think about it." Ronald suddenly patted Darren on the shoulder, as if this was his first step to building familiarity.
Darren only smiled awkwardly while nodding. "E-Eh, yes you're right." I don't know why talking at school is harder than anywhere else.
"By the way, introduce. My name is Ronald Sanguis" said Ronald, "You can call me Ronald. No need to use honorifics."
"Oh, uh— My name is Esema Aswan. You can call me Esema" Darren replied.
"If you may know, why did you join this academy? You know, like motivation or maybe purpose."
Darren paused for a moment, thinking of a good answer. It was clearly impossible for him to answer: I am investigating the evil plans of the demon lord of darkness to prevent a war from happening.
"I'm..." He began to string together his words, "I joined together to become stronger!"
"Oh, really?!" Ronald seemed enthusiastic.
"E-Eh? Yeah, really!" sahut Darren again. "My brother is a diamond-level adventurer. Her name... R-ravenna. My mother always thought of myself as useless and compared myself to her. So...!"
Darren became more confident in bringing out his beautiful lies. "So I decided to become stronger and prove to her that I deserve to be a famous adventurer."
Ronald smiled. "That's the obvious reason." he said, "Very inspiring!"
Then he began to pose dramatically with a radiant look. At that very instant, Darren instantly realized that the person beside him was a strange person.
"Maybe the reason this chair is empty is because of this human behavior-" He stopped mumbling when he saw the long ears that Ronald had.
"He's an Elf?" Her thought. "I heard, elves are an arrogant race and have high self-esteem. But, this elf seems to behave the opposite."
As Darren was thinking, Ronald suddenly pulled a small book out of his pocket. The book looked like a memo, and he began writing with his pen.
"Eh, what is it?" Ask Darren.
"This is my author's notebook," Ronald replies, "I wrote down all the good ideas I found and made them great themes for my novel."
"W-Wow. Did you just write my story?"
"of course! Who hasn't been touched by such an inspiring story? Readers can be made to cry happily because they are proud of the achievements made by the main character. Especially with such pressure. Then I can add other things to it. Like the trials that block the main character and slowly change his character. It can be called, this is the main spice to make character development. Then I can override the main character with more suffering for even more character development. That way, the main character will be the strongest character. Not just physically, but mentally. And at the end of the story, he will fight against his own brother. However, even with all his strength, he still could not win. Then his brother said: 'Your enemy is not me. But yourself.' Then with some flashback scenes, the main character also gets the power of motivation. He overcame the flaws in himself and finally managed to win. Then he was named as the strongest adventurer in the world."
"Oh, okay."
Hearing the convoluted explanation just now made Darren's head dizzy. Still mending if the explanation just now related to his mission to find the undead factory. But it's nothing more than Ronald's excess.
"Maybe I made a mistake sitting here."
